the problem with this au is that it's fucking complicated is what it is. like to get to the actual point where the au happens you need like eight pages of explanation of hcs about cyllene backstory and the general state of the world during pla. none of which i have ever actually posted prior to this. so much upfront time investment and for what

#the nemesis speaks #waugh.#this is also one of those aus ive been sort of. idly toying with for A While Now #but it never really managed to grab my interest properly before now #the basic idea is that the whole riftnapping thing happens when they're much younger #and emmet also gets got #buuut they don't wind up in the same place. ingo still ends up with the pearl clan but emmet's actually in blackthorn in johto #where he's sort of taken as a ward of the state and becomes a stablehand and much later a stablemaster for the draconian guard #(he is too good with pokemon for them to waste him in any non-pokemon-related role)#and that's when he also meets cyllene in the beginning of her career as a zuijin. and they get to Be Friends.#like i said. setup investment.#meanwhile being a member of the pearl clan from a much earlier age means ingo is more or less 100% just a clan member #ppl lowkey forget he wasn't born there sometimes #aaand this is also part of the initial what-if born out of the discussions abt ingo being sort of a mentor/guardian for irida #and taking the role of sneasler's warden specifically for her in some capacity #which is to say. ingo irida swap au where he's the one who becomes the pearl clan's leader.#which i feel like really ONLY works if he's there from childhood #hey what's the tag limit on posts again
