First Lines Meme
I am very grateful to be tagged by @swimmingfoxsticks and @bobparkhurst both of whose fanfics I’ve greatly enjoyed!
Rules: post the first lines of your 10 most recent fanfics.
 1. By request of the grass (SAS Rogue Heroes, Paddy/Eoin)
Paddy holds, in a vised grip, Eoin’s striped jersey, cloud white and sea blue, now all grey brown.
2. Desert swimmers and upside-down sinners (SAS Rogue Heroes, Paddy/Eoin)
‘Stirling’s got a place in Cairo,’ says Eoin, driving carefully over a soft patch of sand that looks like the rest that is not soft.
3. To the burned mountain over Sicily (SAS Rogue Heroes, Reg/Johnny)
The town of Augusta was alive with the din of post-battle procedures.
4. Sunder and Surrender (Band of Brothers, Ron Speirs/Eugene Roe)
There was an ancient authority to the mountains of Austria that only poems could reflect.
5. Gathering Storms (Dunkirk, Collins/Peter Dawson, HP!au)
“It’s for the greater good.”
“Whose greater good? Certainly not any of us.”
“Mine!”
6. Oasis Reverie (Dunkirk, Collins & Farrier)
Somewhere above the Western Desert, Collins chases Farrier’s Spitfire.
7. Desolate and Solace (Dunkirk, Collins/Farrier)
The sand is so grey, it doesn’t resemble sand. Ash—the old world burned layers back to expose rotten flesh upon which the kingdom come’s foundations are built.
8. When the sun dismisses the fog (of war) (Dunkirk, Collins/Farrier)
"Frequency check, Fortis Two. What’s the plan after this mission?"
“We’ll grab a pint when we get back. I’ll even watch the sunset with you,” Farrier promised.
9. Letters for a golden home (Dunkirk, Collins/Peter Dawson)
It takes Collins a few more months after the end of the war to leave the airbase and go home—home, for him, is the endless stretches of the sky, the gasoline slick belly of a Spitfire [...]
10. 'Cause there's a blue sky waiting for us tomorrow (Dunkirk, Collins/Farrier)
Collins and Farrier had a ritual before every mission—their own lucky charm, they called it, a tradition of sorts for only the two of them.

Would you answer anything from the SASRH ask meme that you didn't answer yet?
sorry this took me a while!
2. When did you first start watching?
I watched the first episode on Halloween morning last year and immediately posted about it in the Thomas Barrow discord complaining that there was no Dominic West in it lmao
Tumblr media
7. Favorite song from the soundtrack?
I enjoy the entire soundtrack and listen to it regularly! I really love how they used music on the show to emphasize the difference between the SAS and the rest of the army
anything AC/DC fucking slaps but if I had to pick a favorite it’s probably Motörhead’s Overkill or The Stooges' 1970!
11. Is there an actor you would like to see make an appearance on the show? Do you have a specific character in mind for them?
not necessarily tbh! also the casting department on this show has been doing a stellar job so far so I trust them to nail it lol. would love to see Parachute Padre make an appearance though 👀
14. Would you rather jump off the back of a moving jeep SAS style, or off some scaffolding like the Free French?
jeep please, that would at least feel like I’d have a tiny bit of control over how I land as opposed to jumping off such a great height……

Anything from the SASRH ask meme that nobody asked you yet and you fancy to answer?
7. Favorite song from the soundtrack?
I'm a huge lover of AC/DC in general, but my favorite in the series is without questions "Thunderstruck". Side story: this song was used as a ringtone on my father's phone (he passed away in late 2021). So SAS:RH was the first time I heard this song in a year. And it was very emotional and bittersweet for me and somehow matched the mood of the series itself (that moment after Jock's death).
8.Do you have a favorite ship? What drew you to them?
*dozens of Paddy x Eoin edits spill from my pockets* Guess I have a favorite ship in this series. The first thing I made for this fandom is Paddy x Eoin gifset - made after watching first three episodes in a dead of the night in November.
Full disclosure: I'm still trying to understand, why I fell for them that hard. Usually I'm your local enemies/rivals to lovers girlie (gn), so following this logic I should fall into gay desert sex (affectionate) category. BUT the tragedy of Paddy and Eoin's relationship (the main conflict is not between them, but them vs. the inevitable narrative), the unsaid feelings, that shimmering on the surface of casual conversations and innocent touches, the haunting narrative bit and real history backdrop (I firmly divide real life and the series and choose to extrapolate on real life counterpart selective facts) made me just LOSE my mind. I don't need star-crossed lovers in my WWII funny romp television series. Also I think Jack and Dónal squeezed literally everything from so few scenes they had together.
So in short, I love them, they make me sad, happy and inspire me to do things I normally don't even attempt to try in my fandom experience (writing, drawing).
