I feel like i read this fic. I think Megatron got pounced by the Elite Trine to sireing their bits. One of the Waves calculated the seeker's needed higher energon amounts to be effective and not get shot down and die from runing on fumes. The suden switch from starvation to enough fuel kicked all the seekers into immediate heat.

That'd make sense on why now , especially since in g1 they're almost always having a thing regarding energon and have a tendency to overdo it when they actually get some, which. Well. We see the effects here but there's probably other ones too.

Starscream, Thundercracker, and Skywarp may not always get along but they do agree on some stuff
