secco   knew   doctors   were   loaded   ,   but   -   it   wasn’t   something   that   he   had   considered   in   his   agreement   with   salvatore.    it   wasn’t   until   ,   he   had   arrived   at   the   mans   house   that   the   reality   set   in   ..    everything   ,   stark   ,   clean   white.    meticulous   perfection   ,      almost   ,   like   he   never   -   really   left   the   hospital   in   which   they   met.   the   first   few   days   ,   were   spent   tip   toeing   around   the   place   –   afraid   to   touch   anything   ,   worried   that   his   unsteady   hands   would   result   ..   in   some   ,   expense.   or   anger   –   from   the   other.      but   his   worries   ,   were   proved   moot   –   with   how   ,   welcoming   salvatore   had   been   ..   secco   felt   more   welcome   here   ..   more   welcome   ,      than   he’d   likely   felt   –   anywhere   else   before.   

the   first   few   mornings   ,   he’d   been   thrown   –   waking   up   ,   in   a   unfamiliar   place.   skittish.      but   he   was   beginning   to   settle   ..   learning   slowly   ,   the   things   he’d   need   to   know   to   help   salavtore   in   the   way   he   wanted.      how   to   turn   on   the   video   camera   ..   making   sure   it   was   charged   ,   the   red   light   meant   it   was   recording   ..   what   buttons   would   zoom   ,   and   retract   the   image.      training   his   hands   to   remain   steady   enough   –   was   the   biggest   issue   thus   far.   

the   man   had   made   himself   comfortable   on   the   floor   ;   beside   the   doctors   feet   ,   a   medical   journal   lay   open   –   pages   ,   filled   with   illustrations.   common   medical   instruments.      scalpel   ..      forceps   ..   hypod-   uh   ,   needle   ?      why   did   these   things   need   such   long   names   ?      and   why   were   there   so   many   types   of   scissors   !   was   one   not   enough   ?         it   was   an   ongoing   struggling   to   link   names   to   the   objects   in   question.
