wait actually that would be so fun: assigning flowers to people
#I say this as if I would actually be able to *decide on specific flowers by any stretch* - but the idea is still nice#does anyone already have a flower they associate with themselves in some way? if so I would love to hear which one and why!~#heart of the void#not strictly about selfshipping#but it nevertheless feels appropriate for here#given my icon and URL and everything#I suppose I could also try and assign flowers to my F/Os like how I already have ones for my final fantasy OCs (and self-inserts)#plus some of my other self-inserts are either named after flowers or associated with specific ones already#(for example: aria is of course associated with cherry blossoms because her true form as a heartless - my icon - is made of them)#(and - while linaria is itself a genus of flowering plants - i also associate her with lily-of-the-valley. to me they mean ''perfection'')#self‑insert: darkness' champion (aria)#self‑insert: world's last vestige (linaria)#those are just some examples#I have more#I can talk about more if people want me to

part of me is tempted to start making flowers more significant to all of my self-inserts, not just some of them. Maybe by putting a flower in each one’s design somewhere? Or just assigning a flower for its symbolism/meaning in flower language, like I did for my FFXIV OCs
For some self-inserts, there is already a flower assignment or association in place - this either stems from that self-insert's name, like Calanthe and Telanthera/Aline/Citri (via surnames), or it stems from specific themes that pop up in the storyline, like for Aria (cherry blossom) and Linaria (lily-of-the-valley). So it could perhaps be fun to try and come up with a different one for each self-insert~

sometimes you just have to space out in the shower about names for a few minutes
#heart of the void#this isn’t really about selfshipping but it still feels right to put on this blog instead of my other primary one so here it is#I just really like picking fitting and/or meaningful names for my self-inserts#because it helps me establish each one as her own self within the context of the given setting#and also sometimes they can be really symbolic (Linaria’s stands out as an example to me. I’m so proud of having landed on that for her)#but I was also thinking about names and nicknames that people use for me too#like for example - I like being called aria but only if it’s by friends I know well and interact with a lot/for a long time#otherwise it doesn’t feel right. but when it *does* feel right it feels *so right* and it just makes me really happy#and it’s just nice that something so simple - something not given much thought by the person using it - can make me feel so happy!#is that odd? perhaps it is. but it doesn’t change the fact I smile when it happens#and if all of this is rambly and nonsensical you can blame the fact that I should have gone to bed over an hour ago#I will now attempt to rest#but I hope people here can have a good rest of their day#self-inserts#self‑insert: world's last vestige (linaria)#..a bit#I’m still counting it

..The Observatory theme from DQIX came on while I was looking back through Linaria's tag, and yet somehow I started thinking of L'nahrii upon hearing it, not Linaria herself
What sort of overflow error is this?? /lh
#to explain the difference (because I know the two names might look a bit similar at first glance):#self‑insert: world's last vestige (linaria)#is one of my dragon quest self-inserts whom I also put into kingdom hearts. she's the one aria uses as a vessel during KHUX#I also have a version of her appear in FFXIV in the world unsundered; she's the ancient of lorenza and all of her counterpart shards#one of those counterpart shards - specifically the one on the source itself (since lorenza is the one on the thirteenth) - is#self‑insert: out‑of‑reach aristeia (l'nahrii)#who as can be determined from her name is a seeker of the sun miqo'te. she gets used by lorenza as a vessel after dying atop syrcus tower#neither is to be confused with either lin (from reborn) or linariyn (from fatebreakers). though linariyn is also sort of a half-self-insert#heart of the void#selfshipping#self‑inserts#I love making a mess like this =P#in trying to explain i think i made things more tangled but oh well#the thing to remember is that - regardless of version - linaria always meets with a lamented fate but her heart is one of light/an angel's#^-^#I should go to bed now

I finally figured out how to add the flower ❀ symbol I use in my tags on my other blog to my phone keyboard! And I’ve put a replacement in to swap the normal phone hyphen to the non-breaking one I use so my tags with hyphens in them show up properly, AND I figured out how to type the desktop apostrophe - ' - instead of the phone apostrophe ‑ ‘ ‑ by holding the key down!
#this is a very exciting time for me#heart of the void#not strictly about selfshipping#but it means that for example if I start typing#love: power of another world (KOS‑MOS)#or#self‑insert: world's last vestige (linaria)#I can *actually* type those tags on my phone without having to copy and paste anything now#and I have to type KOS‑MOS’ tag out anyway because the capital letters don’t save and I don’t know how to get around that#but still#being able to type the flower symbol on my phone does make me consider overhauling my tag system to add it in#but.. mio already does that so maybe I shouldn’t be a copycat >w<#but it would make things more consistent with my showcase blog

I have woken up this morning with emotions about Meteion. That is my baby sister and I care about her so so much.
I have a fair bit of lore for how she fits in to my version of the FFXIV plot, but not a lot of illustrative images. Suffice it to say.. my self-insert Linaria (yes, same name as my DQIX one) was an inspiration for Meteion’s appearance before she was created by Hermes, and shares a few traits with her, leading to Meteion (and thus all the Meteia) seeing her as a big sister after meeting her.
Even 12,000 years later - when Linaria has been sundered into Lorenza and the universe faces an end to all new life driven by the Meteia’s collective song - they all still see her as the same being she was before upon encountering her when the party reach their nest, and they never forgot the kindness she showed them all.. even if Lorenza isn’t actually that same kind person anymore. This ends up nearly killing her, but she’s thankfully rescued in time by Clio and the others - and after everything is over and the universe is saved, it’s Lorenza who then brings a Meteion back to the world she first took flight from, to live amongst life and determine her own answer.
It’s a bit complicated, but it does all work out in the end. Sort of tragic siblings.

today is Ephemer’s birthday!! happy birthday to Ephemer!! he is a treasured friend~
at this point I think I still only have the ruby AU so I can say one of my self-inserts actually gets to interact with him, haha (in this case it’s Linaria). But, since Clio takes the role of KHUX’s Player, she also gets to meet him and interact with him! which is fun
May his story finally be further told once Missing Link stops being missing..

aHA I found the stained glass descriptions!!!
I’ve written out the text from the images under the readmore with a couple of extra details if that’s easier, but!! This is what I mean by stained glass stations from dives to the heart being something that is really fun to play with as a characterisation device~
Arc 1 heart station: (NB: this is probably going to be the most accurate for her outside of the RP context this was originally written for)
image of Aria flying on black wings, with an empty black silhouette of Ves (Linaria) at her back.
The stained glass is entirely dark pink, with the Heartless symbol going around the edges.
The circles are filled as follows: Clio at the top, Livi and a star of Lux next to each other below her, the Heartless emblem in the centre, Aria's initial mask and a silhouette of a feather next to each other below that, and a blue heart-shaped sapphire at the bottom.
A tangle of darkness and cherry blossoms obscures much of the right half of the circle.
Arc 2 heart station:
Same image of Aria flying on mottled black-and-white wings, but the image of Ves is no longer in silhouette; she is facing away (her head is in profile) and she has her eyes closed; she is wearing the blue scarfed outfit she was drawn in alongside The Voice. [NB: picture attached below]
The stained glass is dark pink on the left and becomes a more dull pale green on the right, with the Heartless emblem repeating around the left half and silhouettes of the astral plume repeating around the right half (the changes to the right become more obvious as more petals fall from Aria’s hairpin in the real world).
The circles are filled as follows: Clio at the top, Livi and a star of Lux next to each other below her, a five-petalled cherry blossom flower in the centre (the petals disappear from it as they fall from her hairpiece), Nyx and an astral plume next to each other below that, and.. something to represent the Fatebreakers overall at the bottom, maybe?
The tangle from before still persists, but it recedes as petals fall.
Current heart station: [NB: “current” here refers to Aria’s personal chapter of the story, which was the last one we played/before the final one. Aria herself is currently out of commission.]
The image of Aria is in black silhouette, leaving Linaria and her white wings visible; she is wearing her original (Celestrian) attire and her eyes are now open, and look sad.
The stained glass is half-obscured on the left, showing a light green on the right; benevolessence repeats around what is visible of the edge of the circle.
The circles still visible show a silhouette of Clio at the top, the next below it is not visible but a piece of benevolessence is next to it (where the Lux was previously), a silhouette of the Celestrian emblem in the centre, the next below this is not visible but a lily-of-the-valley is next to it, and the silhouette of a spider lily at the bottom.
Any still-visible plant life appears dead.
