"Even from where he stood, Vash choked on the growing smell of death. Wolfwood looked like he should be dead, too.
After all, any normal human would be."
one of my pieces for the vw reverse bang :P the linked text leads to the fic that the wonderful Umbr_el_on wrote for this that i had tons of fun reading and rereading :D (don't worry it has a happy ending <3)

Big Bitch
Fucking Giant
He's so cool tho. Look at him .
His arm is translucent under the light 🥺🥺
He is Serving Cunt, as the kids may say
And he is now in jail with my other Vash
Very satisfied with my purchase 😌

Wolfwood has a small collection of lighters that the group keeps stealing/hiding on him. They thinks it’s absolutely hilarious and it sort of turns into a game.
Milly will always stick them in different pockets of his spare clothes, she thinks it’s really funny but will always give away where she hid them if he’s frustrated enough.
Meryl doesn’t hide Wolfwood’s lighters too often (mainly when she’s just mad at him, though she does do it just for fun sometimes) but when she does she hides them extremely well. And she doesn’t just hide one or two at a time, she hides all of them. Nobody knows how she’s able to get them all or how she hides them so well, but it pisses Wolfwood off, especially when she refuses to tell him where they are until he apologizes for whatever he did that upset her. She won’t even tell or show him where she put the lighters, they’ll just start randomly appearing again and it kind of freaks Wolfwood out a bit.
When Vash takes them he normally just pockets them, waiting until Wolfwood is trying to find his lighter to smoke to pull it out, a dumb smirk on his face as he lights Wolfwoods cigarette for him. Wolfwood always yells at him after he does this but everyone else, including Vash, thinks it’s hilarious.
Them all hiding his lighters doesn’t actually piss Wolfwood off that much (except for when Meryl hides them when she’s mad) and he gets little rushes of happiness when he finds one in an odd spot. He even starts trying to hide them from the others so they’re harder to get too. It gets to a point where almost constantly Vash, Meryl, and Milly have at least one of Wolfwoods lighters on them at all times. At another point they start keeping tally’s on who’s hiding spot is more creative/takes Wolfwood longer to find. Meryl’s obviously winning but they all have fun with it regardless.

my hugest pet peeve in trigun fanfic is when wolfwood gets called a mutt or a stray or otherwise treated as animalistic in a demeaning sense. i can handle it maybe if it's by a character who is meant to be comically evil but when it comes from someone who is supposed to be nuanced/morally grey/someone wolfwood doesn't like but isn't a bad person, or god FORBID coming from his romantic interest.... it immediately takes me out no matter how good the fic is otherwise. it also bothers me when people write vash just standing there while it happens. not vash's white ass letting his brown boyfriend get demeaned by his white brother

Also, considering that they had films ( or media files ) of various historical moments, Vash likely knows more than he puts on. ( Of course, this isn't Vash in the manga panel. That's Knives, but you can still imagine that Vash has had consumed certain media. )
