Prefacing this by saying i don’t hate Eddie or buddie in any way, im only tagging this as anti buddie so people can filter out criticism on a ship that they enjoy ❤️

This post doesnt really have a specific theme, I’m just kinda rambling here so bear with me lol

Something that has been bothering me for a while about the gay eddie hc, is that at least the canon basis/evidence for it, is honestly a little homophobic? Most often people claim he’s gay because of how he treats women poorly and how many failed relationships he’s been in and I just.. first off have you MET a straight man?? 😭 thats how they are..(For the most part). Secondly it’s a negative stereotype that gay men dont treat women well, so having that be one of your main points to make Eddie gay rubs me the wrong way, especially when it comes from non queer men. The other main point I see is the quote “it feels like a performance” but the thing about that quote is , its taken extremely out of context.

He was literally talking about being set up on dates, being FORCED to date instead of letting it happen naturally. Thats what feels like a performance.

I have never understood why Eddie also cant be bisexual if queer at all. he has been clearly shown to enjoy having sex with women.

And another thing that bothers me is that buddie fans shout all the time about wanting whats best for Buck, and then want him shoved in a relationship with a man that has never treated a romantic partner fairly. Again, this isnt Eddie hate but the guy needs serious therapy. He’s a good friend and a good dad, ultimately hes a good person too but he’s not a good partner and that wouldnt change just because he dates Buck.

Bob’s are constantly forcing a heteronormative role onto Buck, especially when it comes to taking care of Christopher and it just, thats not going to solve anything? Like at all? It really makes me feel like they dont understand mlm relationships at all, and what they look like and how they work, especially based on their reactions to how Tommy and Buck interact.

People probably arent going to like this take, but I see fics or posts that constantly put Christopher as Buck’s 1 priority and I just dont think its true. Dont get me wrong I really enjoy the relationship they have, but if any kid on the show has his highest priority, its Jee. Buck spends so much time with Chris because Eddie needs help, if Henren needed help or babysitting more often Buck would seem close to Denny and Mara as well. Im not saying Buck doesnt care or want to hang out with Chris of course, but I feel like people definitely overplay their relationship to an extreme extent. The same goes for buddie in general, especially these last few seasons I dont see buck and Eddie being any closer than eddie and hen or buck and hen or something. Especially considering in 704 Eddie literally didnt invite him to trivia which he knows (or should know) Buck likes lol

And another thing about Christopher is that they turn him into this buddie love child who is SO obsessed with his dad’s sexuality and its just so weird to me. They completely strip him of any independence and personality and turn him into this buddie advocate, and then put him away when he’s no longer useful or needed. Its ableism. Chris is his own character and his story shouldnt focus around Buddie or his dads romantic endeavors AT ALL.

thinking so hard about charlies character in frank shoots every member of the gang. its like after his breakdown in s15 finale he's kind of putting pieces together in his head and letting himself acknowledge that his family is fucked up and their lives being tied together in the destructive way they are is dangerous, the end scene in the bar, he says i cant hold onto it. he's already lost his dad, and i keep looping back in my head the scene with bonnie where hurts herself as a sort of repentance to going behind charlies back. she tries so hard to keep up this image of herself as a perfect mother that she repeatedly hurts charlie in the process by not treating him like an actual person. he gets pissed and sure hes gotten mad at his mom in the show before, but the slamming of the phone and macs reaction makes me sooo. like it paints such a picture of his childhood home and continuous cycle of anger and violence to apologize for things nobody can fix. he takes his sisters vase, the ones who still call him dirtgrub like thats all he'll ever be, a way he can make his own 'family legacy'. the first thing he does is ask mac to contribute. mac is the only one who was there for him, genuinely, in times of need throughout his life and he says he should be charlies legacy. frank shoots the vase as he enters, a literal and figurative shattering of what couldve been charlies future. hes getting older and they're going to be in this bar for the rest of their life together and charlies jokes fall away. hes the straightman in these last few episodes and theres no laugh when dennis says their legacy is getting wasted in their stupid alcoholic business, just a sort of resigned look of halfhearted acceptance and a broken family heirloom on the floor

Showbitz and Heartbreaker stuff (+ a bit of their creator) ↓

Lets start off with their creator (🙄) Their creator is a young, sad, lonely man named Dennis who spends most of his time indoors working on his own projects and lounging about. He had originally gone to school to become a doctor but instead took more interest in robotics. After graduation, he found a place and experimented with his newfound passion. Bitz would be the first of his bots to be considered a success.

as mentioned in the reference, Bitz was built with the purpose of dealing with heavyweight items and disposing of useless things/trash (crushing with his teeth). During his free time (when not having any orders given to him) he would watch tv or browse the Internet. He learned about the outside world and everything it had to offer this way, and soon he realized he wanted to see it for himself. However, his creator would not allow this in fear that he would get damaged or cause harm in some way. But of course, this wouldn't stop him from trying!

At some point, Dennis ends up building a housekeeper bot to help keep the place tidy and such. Soon enough she and Bitz became acquainted with eachother, and would hang out with eachother more and more on their breaks 😁 with Bitz showing her his favorite things to watch and look at.

Ok ok Fast forward a bit. The two bots both decide they want to run away to see the outside world. They pack up some supplies (including money they had stolen from Dennis lol) and find a way to leave while he was out for errands, it was the perfect opportunity!. They trainhop a few times till they finally reach close to the big city (very far from their home).

Here, they would try their best to figure themselves out and what they want to do (along with trying to get a roof over their heads of course). Days pass and their hopes start to dwindle, until suddenly out of the blue, they get asked to be apart of an ongoing tv show, and immediately take up the offer as long as it provided them with a safe place to stay. Bitz would end up becoming the new host for a popular game show (the show having a robot host as it's main gimmick) with the housekeeper bot (now known as Heartbreaker) as his assistant.

Now, you must be wondering "wow Mari this doesn't really explain why Bitz is the way he is now!" "Why is he passive aggressive nowadays?" "Does Bitz kill people" bear with me Ok.

At some point early into his career he ends up having his trust broken by a Certain Someone. This ordeal causes him to snap and hold a huge grudge towards them. Overtime he would start experiencing hatred for literally anyone he finds even the slightest bit of irritating, including a few of his own contestants or audience members (essentially he becomes corrupt, a Huge Hater, and develops anger issues LOL. You know the "are you tired of being nice don't you just want to go ape shit" meme yea thats basically what's happening).

One day he thought to himself "well why don't I just get rid of these people?" (which would be just. ya know. killing them. crazy i know. but at this point he really doesn't care!). He uses Heartbreaker to do the dirty work for him (hunting them down hitman style) while they're not on the air. She does not mind doing the job, as she does not feel much empathy towards people she doesn't know personally Especially humans (not to mention she also knows how to clean up once its done haha).

Anyways the fame from his show starts getting to Bitz's dumb robot head, which leads to him becoming more egotistical, to the point where he's practically obsessed with himself! He wants everyone to focus on him and him only, it's what he craves most. He would do anything to be the center of attention.

and that's kinda all I have left to say for now. I do plan to draw a few things I purposely left out + things i mentioned here in the future. I also want to make another post about the other bots at some point. Kudos to anyone that was cool enough to read through this dumb thing. thanks

anyone upset abt macdennis not being canon confuses me.

the whole point of this ship is that its already canon just not in an explicit way - and thats where the comedy of macden moments comes from.

the absolute insanity of frank v russia is funny. dennis convincing himself and mac that remote controlling anal beads up his ass is not gay and for a trivial thing such as getting mac out of the apartment is absurd. the viewer sees this absurdity and finds it funny.

thats been the gist of macden throughout all these seasons. every moment with them is romantic or sexual in some way but its not acknowledged by themselves and thats whats humorous about their dynamic.

not to say that them going farther with it would be wrong or unfunny, i mean we literally know that dennis put his balls in macs mouth ehile he slept and practically controlled his masturbation with anal beans whoch is all objectively gay but played off because these are insane people and its funny that way. them having sex wouldnt even be a shock to me and it could for sure just be played off in a funny way and not ruin any dynamic or the comedy of the show.

explorations of their dynamic and their respective mentalities regarding each other without the goal of making a funny show can be easily found in fanfiction or headcannon posts. and to me that is much more cathartic to read than a relationship on screen. i mean the waitress and charlie sleeping together wasnt funny to me and i dont want a repeat of that. i do think that a kiss could be done without humourous intent like in gang tends bar with the rocket launcher, but i dont see macden kissing as the same as making them be in an explicit relationship like maureen and dennis were for example.

the most boring ppl are the ones who say macdennis could never happen bc dennis is a narcissist who wants to be in control of mac, thats just another reddit dudebro take for me. bc thats basically ignoring macs place in dennis' life and all the contradictions about dennis. control is important to dennis bc its his safe place, thats the way he finds to hide his insecurities and traumas and yet mac is the only person he ever let take control over his life. instead of gaslighting mac into believing he needs dennis, dennis is the one who depends on him and needs him. its literally canon that despite them being codependent, dennis is still highly more depended on him. their relationship is at their best when mac takes control and puts dennis is his place, and is in shambles when mac takes shit from dennis and gets needy for his validation. dennis never used macs obvious attraction for dennis in order to get something out of it or for his own benefit. like what do ppl think his endgame is? keeping mac around for what exactly when he could find anyone else to manipulate? dennis needs mac way more than mac needs him bc he brings balance to dennis' life. mac is not some innocent man being played by dennis, he knows exactly how dennis is and he makes it his mission to make him worse subverting any other ship where one of them fixes the other. But literally nothing happened. It was just a run of the mill boring-ass episode.

And if this was pre-MFHP then I wouldnt care as much, because i'd be lile "oh hahah yeah well its the peepeepoopoo show so what'd you expect!!" But. Now? Now theyve set those expectations. They've demonstrated their ability to delve into deeper issues and display them seriously on screen. Which is why this fucking sucks so much. They teased us with the idea tjat this would be Dennis's big emotional moment and then juzt pulled the rug out from under us like NOPE! Even tho we did that in the past, doesnt mean we are gonna do it again. Even if we all post about it like thats what happening!!!!

Pleass rcg, sunny marketing team, God Jesus and whoever is listening......if it's a standard epiaode please just Say So. Don't make us think its gonna be Dennis Finds His Pride if its not. Because.... Like.......as a queer neurodivergent person whom has seen that happen COUNTLESS TIMES........it fucking sucks every single time and never stops feeling like a betrayal. something we have discussed is how dennis was the only one who could understand mac and that's great but can we also discuss how it must feel for mac that no one can understand him

this seems to be accentuated by how off he keeps being about things (offering of war/dennis being shot being "awesome"/being unable to read subtext both with dennis ["figure of speech"] and donald) and how much he's looking for a sense of meaning that he used to find in his identity until s15 made him realize how pointless it was (in a way that reminds me of his crisis in goes to hell 2...), but legacy, history, money and prizes are worth nothing if your heart is not in it.

and in a way I think dennis is coming to the same conclusion which is why he's the only one who can understand mac.

dennis "you're just being honest about how you feel" reynolds, so concerned with authenticity and upset by the perceived lies when it's just his own denial making it that way. that's building the biggest lie of all.

if we're looking for the Point, then the point is to have fun and embrace feelings. Big Mo already showed this.

it's interesting to me how it seems that mac and dennis are working off of each other in the way sunny works as a whole. because if mac is the structure and the text, and dennis is the subtext and the jokes (it's how he's trying to communicate in inflates but it's also the whole reason he comes with mac in madbu), they kinda NEED to be working together for the show to work... they need to find their harmonies, they can't just one or the other lead, they gotta have each other's back.

and also like, a small coda. this season deals so much with nostalgia vs how the past really was, there's so many flashbacks.

becoming aware of denial and reality can feel really upsetting but ultimately it's a positive development.

if "the hair is a lie" chopping off the head isn't the answer, that was the old way of doing things (in times of war... murder, betrayal, beheadings... "we figured out what works a long time ago"), but now we're looking for peace. basically, death isn't the answer. building your legacy doesn't have to be like pulling teeth. "this doesn't have to be a scam"

it's a good thing if we start seeing things for what they actually are, because it means less denial.
