Shiro had met you in only a couple ticks between meeting Allura and Coran, being the royal Court Physician and a close friend to King Alfor. The barriers the King had just put up lowered once more, but the battlefield them was gone.

You had caught sight of him first, the inner turmoil of the battle in the deep recess of your memory. The Princess stood at her controls and Coran telling a young, strange-looking boy how they would fight each other, rather than doing so. You sat inside the sleep chamber, your legs hanging over the edge as Princess Allura told you and Coran that it had been ten thousand years you had been asleep.

It was all very strange and terrifying, to think, ten thousand years has gone and past, their lives meaningless enough for it to continue on in a universe-wide terror that is the Galra.

That all was only a few months ago and so many other things have taken place since then. That momentary glance towards Shiro, the leader, and Paladin of the Black Lion had turned into many more of those. On Altea, there was always the smallest crush on the kitchen girls or the Knights but this was different.

You enjoyed Shiro’s company, his stories, and his faults. Your hand would brush over his skin when going to ask him a question and your whole body would churn. This had never happened and it seemed to continue to fluster you as the weeks came and went.

“Shiro?” you called out to him, he turned to you with a soft smile. He was dressed in his suit, ready for battle within the lions.

The group had decided to infiltrate the Galra fleet by starting with a small outside fleet to drawn in their fleet and then get the big guys by surprise. With Hunk and Lance the only ones really fighting; Pidge, Shiro and Keith would move inside and get the files needed to find Matt, Pidge’s brother, and other ones that would explain the Galra’s plan.

You weren’t in on this plan, though. You never were, being the Court Physician led to little knowledge on how to fight, they all believed, so whenever it came to team meetings you were usually excluded.

“What is it, _____?” Shiro asked, walking over to you. He set his helmet on his hip and smiled so sweetly your knees almost buckled.

Caressing a strand of (H/C) hair behind your pointed ear, you turned to look away from him and muttered a few words he was unable to catch. He quirked an eyebrow and asked you to repeat, “I want to go with you,” You stated firmly.

Shiro looked at you in surprise, the amount of determination in your voice. He regained himself and leaned forward with a slightly confused look, “Wh-What?”

Shiro had come to taking a liking to you as well. You were quite beautiful for a Court Physician. Usually, medics for the Royal Guard were old and fumbling messes with strange concoctions going on in the lab. Only one of those things were true, and he’s had a look around your lab that only had a flimsy sheet separating the room for patients to stay in. He found you curious and intriguing, he wanted to hold your hand and caress your face where the (P/B) mark sat along your cheekbone.

“I want to come with you. I’m tired of staying behind and doing nothing until everything’s over. I’m a fighter, I can help. Please, let me not feel useless.”

He looked down at you with a sad look before turning to Allura whose eyes were wide in fright. She had come to think of you as a sibling and could almost not allow you to go; but that look, that want. It’s what they all had. The will to fight and save. She nodded slightly, and Shiro warily agreed.

“Okay,” he whispered. “You don’t have a lion of your own so I’m going to take you with me in mine. We’re infiltrating the inside of the ship with Pidge and Keith so suit yourself up and grab a weapon. Alright?” he asked softly.

You nodded, a grin full blown across your cheeks as you rushed off and went to suit up.

“Do you think this is a good idea?” he asked Allura. Neither thought you to be weak, but they had not seen you fight either. There was a slight worry in their guts that this could go terribly wrong.

“I don’t know, but she seemed so sure. Just… keep her safe, Shiro,” Allura asked of him, setting her hand on his shoulder.

“Of course,” he nodded.

Shiro and you sat in his lion, waiting for the go-ahead from Lance and Hunk who would be attacking from the inside while you four would attack the inside. A seat had appeared for you from the floor, and you strapped yourself in, a knife on your waist and butterflies in your stomach.

“Ready?” Shiro asked, his hands thrumming against the steering wheel.

“Ready as I’ll ever be,” you muttered, as Pidge and Keith replied. You blushed in realization he wasn’t talking to you since you were in the same lion. He turned back and smiled kindly before you dived into the blind spot of the Galra base.

The four of you jumped out of the lions and met in the middle, discussing what to do.

“Alright, Pidge, Keith you're going to make your way to the control room and find those files. _____ and I will try and knock out all the sentries and find the commander of this fleet. Scare him until he contacts Zarkon, then our real plan will go into action.”

The three of you nodded and quickly rushed down the corridors. The first set of sentries appeared, at the sight of the two of you, the alarms began to blare. Shiro activated his blade arm while you stood back slightly until you devised just when was a good time to hit. Taking out your own blade, you moved over and knocked the feet of the sentry over and cut its neck.

The sentries were down and you were back to running down the hallways, now trying to avoid the sentries that the alarms were sounded.

The schematics for the ship were simple, the control deck was in the front of the ship while the commander was stationed in the middle of the ship. If the ship was attacked, per se today, the commander would be safely away from the shots but still be able to command his troops.

Shiro had taken your hand without thinking, the consistent stops and goes made you vaguely aware of your body hitting into Shiro’s hard back continuously. You grew a tad bit dizzy before you were able to make it to the commander's room.

Shiro didn’t know how to get in and you, raising an eyebrow, tried knocking. Shiro laughed slightly at the mundane task but it worked. The commander, a squatty purple man, appeared behind it with beads of sweat trickling down his neck as he stammered his words.

He continued to fumble about until he brought out a sword of his own, a devilish smirk on his face having caught you two by surprise. Sentries then entered the room as well and it was one hell of a battle between you and everything.

“How much longer Pidge?!” Shiro shouted into his mic and his voice reverberated between him shouting and inside your helmet. Knocking down another sentry, you didn’t realize the commander had snuck behind you and shoved his blade into your side.

Shuddering as the blade withdrew, you shouted out, falling to the floor while sentries came and plucked at your frazzled skin. Shiro looked in your direction noticing your fall and a pained look came across his face. Your writhing body was held between the metallic fingers of the sentries and he shouted to Pidge to help him. He cut the sentries on top of him before making his way towards you.

The doors closed on his face as the sentries were able to take your limp body out of the room and Shiro was trapped with the commander.

“Pidge, Pidge! They’ve taken (him/her) and I’m locked in with the commander. I don’t know what to do!” he shouted into his mic as he twirled in battle around the commander who stared at him with a terrifying grin.

“Alright, I’m on it. I think I can take down the sentries but if she’s hurt we can’t do much more than that. Keith, you’ll have to go out and get her,” Pidge demanded, typing away quickly at the computer.

“Okay,” he agreed, nodding his head as he ran over to the door that locked them away from the prying sentries they had to face as well.

“Go!” Pidge shouted, Keith, running out of the room and into the hallway, the opposite way he and Pidge came.

He stumbled over his feet and had to push himself off the floor to regain his steps. He soon found the sentries that were turned off on the ground with you between them. He sighed in relief, quickly and carefully raising you into his arms.

“Hurry Keith! They’ll come back on in any second, you’ll have to go back to your lion. We need to retreat before any more damage comes,” Pidge explained, Keith nodding even though she couldn’t see them. “Shiro, I can’t get the doors open from here. They’ll only open inside,” Pidge explained to Shiro as Keith took off to his lion.

You squirmed in his arms as he set you down on the floor of the red lion as he powered the lion up, hurrying out of the ship and to his own. The Galra shot at Keith and he had to maneuver around the shots to get to the castle. You slid across the floor, uncomfortably bumping into things and groaning softly as you curled into yourself.

Passed out as you were, Keith still felt terrible for what he had been unintentionally been doing. “Sorry, _____,” he muttered before he was able to make it into the castle’s interior.

Allura was the first to meet them, taking you from Keith’s arms.

“Out of all that, we got nothing done. We need the others to move so we can move,” Allura stated, Keith, nodding in his tiredness and joined Coran on the main deck while Allura took you to the healing pods.

Even though the ship had healing pods, they did take up a lot of energy and were useless for minor injuries. Small scratches still appeared and scars were a tad bit more prominent if used in the machine. The meaning of you on the ship was for these things, even if sometimes you felt useless.

“How is she?!” Shiro shouted, running down the hallway towards your pod. The rest of the team followed behind him, unable to answer as he stopped in front of you. You were asleep, you looked peaceful and he was thankful for that.

“She’s resting now, but all we can do is wait,” Coran told him, the group leaving the room after a few minutes when they realized it would be like when Shiro or Lance was cooped up in the pods.

Shiro stayed, the whole time, his hand on the shield of your pod as he looked down in his guilt. “It’s all my fault,” he whispered. “I should’ve said no, you should’ve trained first before you came along with us.” He stood there a moment before his knees weakened and he sat on the ground. “Please, please, be alright. I can’t lose you. Not yet,” he whispered, placing a chastise kiss on your pod.

When his lips left the pod opened and there you stood, six hours later feeling better than before. “Wow, this thing does a better job than I do,” you muttered, looking around the unit. “How long have I been out?”

“S-Six hours,” Shiro replied, almost unable to do anything.

“Really? Way better than me,” you responded with a laugh. You looked down a Shiro who had a tear falling down his cheek, you squatted to be in front of him smiling softly at him as your hand moved to his face.

“I heard you in there,” you whispered, setting your thumb over his tear before wiping it away. Shiro took in a deep breath before pulling you in tight, his embrace warm and comforting but shaking with fear. You pet his back in caution, hoping he’d understand that you were alright.

“I’m not going to say you can’t fight with us, but after this, you at least need some formal training,” he muttered in your ear.

LIKE i was expecting this album to be SUPER INCREDIBLE COME ON ITS DREAMCATCHER YKNOW but i didnt think itd be THIS incredible this group is just so full of surprises and are just the MOST HIDDEN GEMS its unfortunate they really arent very known trying to be a little critical ofc there are SOME things that could be different theres nothing absolutely and truly perfect ever- personally i am IN LOVE with this album theyve topped themselves from their last comeback which like HOLY S HIT however will this be the comeback that will get them their first win? ..................... to be honest its hard to tell i was so hopeful last comeback and yknow stuff happened OFC I DO HOPE AND WISH THEYLL WIN but whats most important (at least to me) is that i enjoy their music and enjoy all the content they give and appreciate their work and their voices
