as i've mentioned before i'm still keeping an eye out for wakui releasing more htni backstory info but personally i'm really fond of the idea that ran and rindou had a rags to riches story (which is what arph and i default to) bc tr already tackled the neglected wealthy kids storyline and i didn't wanna repeat lol. i also think this would explain why ran and rindou had the whole "we don't need anyone else but each other" attitude at 13 since they grew up in crime-filled streets, and why ran came to respect both izana and kakucho so much. they reminded him of rindou and himself, so it'd make sense if the htnis were orphans left to fend off by themselves too, and ran admired that despite this fact, kakucho still managed to come out of it with a good heart unlike him LOL.

a lil self-indulgent headcanon of mine is that by forming tenjiku, izana unknowingly already fulfilled his childhood dream bc all these guys possibly come from broken homes/have a bad relationship with their family/do not have a family at all, so tenjiku is their home, and that's a reason why they were so attached to it (or specifically, to izana himself lol).
