#manga covers#not manga#not even japanese actually#the japanese translations of Arkady Martine's debut book series#break each book into two smaller books#a pretty common practice with Japanese publishing#it keeps books at the familiar and more portable size they already print in#incidentally they had someone do new cover art#although funny enough they recreated the same basic scenes as the originals#almost begs the question of why they needed new art at all#but these are certainly gorgeously done
