my favorite thing about writing ethan pov in general has to be the way he censors his own mind. catholic guilt boy im obsessed with you
#ethan hunt#mission impossible#classical music au#ethan is one of my favorite characters to write pov from. it's possible when you're in his head to maintain a mystery#that he knows the answer to and the reader doesn't#specifically because he Will Not Let Himself Think about certain things and he's so good at it#this is especially true for MI1 Ethan and his corresponding era in the AU where he's living in an intricate system of#guilt and subconscious fear for such a long period of time that it becomes mundane.#but it's true also later because the mi1 experience impacts so directly his ability to Want things#to get angry#to allow himself to be impure anywhere where the people who love him can see/anywhere near his role as an action hero and team leader#etc#he sees these things as Unacceptable#and if anything he’s thinking or experiencing threatens that he just. puts it away.#there’s so much misdirection going on it’s so fun
