Wish to elaborate on the wing situation, I'd genuinely love to hear it. This entire world you talk about, is... SO good. A mix between space, time and people with wings?? I LOVE that!

(be warned, though, it does get... a little convoluted, lmao) (I used to tell my brother this story bit by bit every night over the course of 2 years)

Our story starts about 200 hundred years from now, in the throes of an absolute mess of an intergalactic war between the W (i can never remember the name for them, lmao. they're a letter now) and the Alliance (also shortened from their real name). The W used to be a solar system civilization with a rapidly growing population - and the only way to sustain it was to take invade other planets, other star systems, and absorb them into its empire. This continued on until they'd amassed a good third of the entire galaxy, and a hefty chunk of the other civilizations in the galaxy fought back against their growth (this is the Alliance)

Now, after about a century of expansion and increasing corruption, W had a huge internal conflict because of his absolutely bonkers massive and diverse it was, and the people rose up to overthrow their shitty government and instate a new one. This was all fine and dandy,, except that the W's people encompassed so many star systems that it was damn near impossible to create any sort of political coherence.

With the fall of the W, the Alliance took this opportunity to fill the power vacuum it had left behind (it stopped expanding), qnd essentially tried to take the land back by force. This entire conflict -with people wanting to leave the W, people wanting to stay, and people wanting to split the W into a million pieces and take it for thier own (thanks Alliance) - splintered hundreds of factions off of the Big Two, each with their own agenda

This is where our story really starts (yeah, i know) (It gets worse, don't worry)

Decades after the Fall of the W, the conflict had come to a bloody standstill. The Alliance was sick of this. Everyone was sick of this. The Alliance decided to consult their council of their greatest scientists and 'magic' users (call them the Sorcerers. they're basically the Alliance's secret ace card up their sleeve) and told them "hey, we need you to build a really big, stupidly powerful weapon so we can settle this whole mess."

Naturally, the Sorcerers, who were barely restrained from actually just overthrowing the Alliance and more than a little unhinged, went "sure, why not lmao"

So, they all rolled up their sleeves and collected a bunch of the most ancient objects with still-traceable signatures they could procure from some dingy little planet, which was more of a dumping ground for the Alliance than anything, (Aerth? Oarth? Something like that) and pulled whatever/whoever had the most contact with it the longest time ago, through the time stream.

It didn't matter what, or who came through. What mattered, was that when something was pulled through time like this, it collected residual energy while slipping through the tunnel from one time to the next. The more time between the jump, the more energy (imagine this like... a really glowy rainbow waterslide. the longer the slide, the more soaked you will likely become as you go through it)

... this was more of an art than a science, they had to admit.

They'd only managed to get one of the two initial trials to even work -

(somewhere, a million miles away, a young girl found herself on what seemed to be an abandoned fight jet, floating in the dead of space) (when she found the pilots chair, it was covered in blood)

-and they couldn't even manage to extract the damn energy from the Earth boy they'd caught properly. It refused to listen to them, inextricably intertwined with his soul - whatever that was to them - as it was, and whatever cracks they'd managed to make in the spiritual vessel only manifested in a pair of strange appendages on his back (the wings), and a incredible unstable energy core.

So they figured, as one does, that if they couldn't take the energy out of him to make a weapon, they might as well train him to harness the energy and become the weapon they need

My OUAT Rewatch -- S6E6 -- Dark Waters

You know, you learn LOTS of things when you’re not angrily blogging and screaming while watching a show that you used to love and now hate watch because the writers are hack asshats.

For example . . . . . did you know that Killybunny used to just go around murdering and killing people for shits and giggles?  Did you know that he’s still punching people and putting them in the hospital and doing exactly what his snuggle boo Emma tells him NOT to do?  And did you know it takes all of FIVE SECONDS for all of that to just be totes forgiven by both Emma AND Henry because he’s that awesome and wonderful? 

Okay, you probably DID know all of this shit but . . . . . paralleled against a backdrop of Belle debating whether or not Rumple is permitted to see their child’s ultrasound because he’s soooooooooooooooo eeeeeeeeeeviiiiiiiiiiiiiillllllllllll when the only time he’s bothered her since they returned is when a literal madman wanted to murder her . . . . . . . . yeah.  

Rumple reading the script like “Who writes this shit?” 

Well, Brigitte Hales for one but . . . . more on that later . . . 

First of all, before more snark begins, I do want to comment on Belle’s dress in this episode because it is beautiful.  SHE is beautiful.

I love this dress, and wow, what a nice improvement from the frumpy thing she was wearing two episodes ago.  

But then there’s our continuing game show . . . . . 

WHAT THE FUCK IS EMMA WEARING??????

They just get worse every episode, don’t they?  

So . . . . . where to begin?

This was a Hook propping episode, and the basic summary of any Hook propping episode is:  “Hook does something really shitty, probably murder or at the bare minimum physical assault, lies about something, and in the end all is forgiven because reasons and he’s SPESHUL!” Also sub-plot of every Hook propping episode:  “Rumple is an evil evil that evils even though whatever he’s doing is either a) nothing or b) nowhere near as bad as whatever Hook was doing in this episode, but he’s still the evilest evil of all evils who should be shunned forever and ever amen.”  

Is that an accurate summary?  

So that’s the gist of this one, but other stand-out moments:

Henry telling the EQ that “Hook would never hurt their family” -- dude, he LITERALLY just tried to kill ALL OF YOU like what, a month ago?  Two months?  I don’t know, I’m as done with trying to make sense of this timeline as the writers are.  But seriously -- there was a trip to HELL and everything because he tried to hurt all of you.  You know, you were THERE.  You wrote about it in your fucking book.  JFC, this show, I swear.

The Snow/Belle scene in the hospital . . . . I mean, I just . . . . . seriously????

So we’re just flat out ignoring the fact that Snow sold out Belle to Hyde a couple of weeks ago and pretending that they’re bestest buddies now?  Of course, Belle doesn’t KNOW THAT.

Okay, let’s piggyback on that post I just linked.  Because there IS some serious bullshit going on in the writers room at this point.

Y’all know how we dragged on Brigitte Hales from S6 onward as being a shitty, Rumple-hating writer.  And how we dragged on her being up Hook’s ass on TWITTER and dragging Rumple ON TWITTER.

Well here’s the thing that you notice when you deep dive into the series and pay attention to shit.

Hales has been on staff since the START of SEASON FIVE.  She was supposedly there to “replace” Kalinda, who left abruptly after S4 ended, literally after the Out of the Past graphic novel came out, which was the summer IN BETWEEN S4 & S5, when she gushed on social media about the beautiful Rumbelle story she wrote for it.

Well here’s the things boys and girls -- this is only Brigitte’s SECOND EPISODE as a writer.  She only wrote ONE episode in S5, and it was way toward the end, and now it’s 6 episodes in before she gets to pen another one.  Kitsowitiz have already penned TWO episodes this season, which also isn’t the norm in the writing pattern, and the last time they penned an episode at an odd point in a season was the end of S2 when they wanted to steer into a “different direction” because of the Neverland shit.  

I have theories . . . . but I’m hesitant to post them because they’re NOT nice and there’s a 50/50 chance I’m right or wrong, but . . . . if you’re nosy . . . . shoot me a message (NOT on anon though cause I’m not posting it here, if you ask on anon I’m not answering) and I’ll gladly share privately, providing that you’ll keep it to yourself.   

BTW, I was rooting for this to be the first episode to dip below the 1.0 ratings number . . . .

Also, the GQ stuff . . . . didn’t bother me.  Because watching it . . . . Rumple had ZERO reaction.  ZERO.  He didn’t want it, he didn’t kiss back.  And I can’t help but wonder if Lana and Bobby played this scene that way on purpose, ignoring whatever stupid shit the script said.  If so good for them -- at least someone gives a fuck about these characters.

The thing that bugged me about that scene was Rumple referring to Hook and Henry as “The Pirate and his Son.”

I’m sorry, WHAT?????  What kind of fucked up shit is that????

THIS is Neal’s Dad, BRIGITTE HALES, not the fucking Pirate Fuckboy!  I know you weren’t there when Neal was on the show, and you and Goodman were probably in the corner of the writers room wanking on the Hook Standee when Souls of the Departed was being written and missed the Neal part, but please learn the show’s HISTORY and also Rumple would NEVER refer to his GRANDSON as the son of that STD-ridden douche canoe!

THAT was probably the most angering moment of this episode.

Belle was in character ISH at the end so 2 points for that I guess (I’m being generous here because I liked her dress and I’m that shallow)

20 points deducted for Hook centric

Only 1 point deducted for Zee because she was basically insignificant in this episode, as she always should be

3 points deducted for OOC Rumple for the “Pirate and his son” line cause NO fuck that noise

10 points deducted for Hales

Cant really justify adding or deducting anything else.  I mean -- there are worse episodes out there and the fuckery in this one is pretty much par for the course so, whatever.

CISFEMALE — ever hear people say AZURE “ZEE” O'HARA looks a lot like JESSICA SULA? I think SHE is about 23, so it doesn’t really work. The DRIFTER is here because PERSONAL REASONS and they are from ???. They can be +RESOURCEFUL, but they can also be -SNARKY. I think ZEE might be TIER 3 SHEPARD. ( Lo. 24. est. she/her. )

○ azure is not who she says she is. her real name is rose rydell and she is originally from livingstone. though, this is her first time home in about five years. 

○  rose was born into the illustrious rydell family. the patriarch, elliot, was a high class defense attorney whose main clients were political figures (senators, governors, ect.)  the matriarch, colette, a pristine head of household who also served on the country club committee and ran debutante balls. needless to say, rose was expected to uphold the rydell name the moment she entered the world. 

○  in the beginning, rose was fine to be the little doll her family wanted her to be. she enrolled in dance classes, extra language courses, etiquette lessons, and debate club. she was always at the top of her class and was the president of almost every club she joined. the epitome of an over achiever right here.  

○ her parents controlled everything about her life. who she was friends with, who she was to avoid, and even who she dated. all of her relationships from her teen years were controlled by her parents as they chose who was worthy of her time. that was one of the biggest blows to her complete lack of sense of self.

○  one of the boys they had chosen for her seemed to be the perfect social match. ethan fairchild. he was everything upperclass parents wanted their daughter to find in a man. he came from an amazingly respectful family, he had a trustfund, he was equipped with a full ride to harvard, and he knew how to play parents like a fiddle. rose didn’t mind him. at first. 

○   a few months into the relationship, the boy started putting kit down for everything. what she wore, what she said, what she did: it was all scrutinized. then, after she tried to end things one night, he became physical. of course, as so many do, rose accepted her apology and entered into an abusive relationship for over a year. during that year, the abuse not only escalated but her life was threatened almost every week. and he had the means to act on it. meanwhile, her parents sat back and smiled and even accepted when he asked for her hand in marriage. she meekly accepted too.

○  when she was eighteen, behind the scenes, things were falling apart. the fbi was on her father’s trail when someone tipped them off to his shady dealings.  elliot was taking bribes for years to hide or even destroy evidence to make sure his clients got off scott free. the rydell family was about to be erased. that’s when rose saw her out. her out from her family, her out from ethan. one night, she emptied her bank account, shut off her phone, and fled seemingly into the night. there was a search for her but the police declared her a willing runaway and let the matter go.

○  while her family went into hiding as the countless news stories dropped, rose was on a flight to the uk. she decided she would reinvent herself there with the help of the lump sum of money she had acquired from her accounts and her intelligence. thus, azure o’hara was born.

○  azure lived for a while in the uk. she got by with menial jobs, renting a crappy apartment downtown and making friends with a few nomadic hippies and artistic types. they taught her the street smarts she needed to continue on for a while.

○  she trekked across england, france and spain by living this way. never staying somewhere for long. after three years had passed since the incident, zee felt comfortable enough to return to the us and did so. though not yet back to livingstone. 

○ the city of new york became her new home. harlem, specifically. she felt right there. even while working some really quirky and odd job couldn’t hinder her time in the city of dreams. zee suddenly found a place she could call home.

○  that was until she got wind of the watershed app. when the epicenter seemed to be livingstone itself, zee knew what she had to do. a few train hops later, she stepped foot back in the town she swore she’d never come back to. the girl quickly applied to be a shepard. she knew that keeping her information safe was the number one priority in case her family or ethan’s family found out that she was found again. zee despises being a shepard but knows this is her only defense in the secret purge.
