I don't know why I have to state this on tumblr of all places, like the place that converted me to feminisim and made me realise my internalised misogyny towards female characters, but mocking a female character's appearance when she has exposed skin or cleavage or is well endowed isn't as progressive as people think. Women have boobs. Some women have big boobs. You think you're just mocking a fictional character for having boobs but if you stop to think about it plenty of women in the world may choose to dress similarly because they might actually LIKE showing off their cleavage, their dobonhonkeroes if you will, like they want to feel comfortable with their bodies, express their femininity or sexuality in a way that gives them confidence. You think people put time, money and effort into cosplays because they don't want to look the character they cosplay just a little?

There's a difference between observing and critiquing character design for the obvious purpose of appealing to a certain demographic and then there's just making mocking statements about outfits and appearances that irl women find pretty and might enjoy wearing for themselves. It's not progressive to mock the fictional women for their appearance, try aiming for the actual issue of men thinking they know how to write and design their fictional women but are just horny on main instead.
