It’s nothing like Club Nyra; Hera’s castle is forged by smooth jazz and fine wine and it’s all so gosh darn fancy it makes Cecelia’s skin-crawl. Funny how she’s grown more comfortable dancing for strangers in a club than she is sitting at the bar of a high class speakeasy. Cecelia couldn’t help but be acutely aware of the dangers lurking within all the opulence, and knew that she should have her guard up while gathering intel ( especially on enemy turf ). Nothing could distract her from her mission. Not Russell’s kind disposition, or The Warehouse’s glamour.

And yet... the jazz singer’s voice was so lovely, her soft Christmas carols blanketing Cecelia into a false sense of complacency. Sleep was hard to come by, ever since she started taking longer shifts and had to keep her flu-ridden daughter home from school. Silent Night was practically a lullaby in her years, and Cecelia couldn’t help but grow drowsier the longer she waited for Russell to make his way to her. Sweet boy, would he mind if she rested her head on his bar for a few minutes?

Cecelia dozed off before she could come up with an answer to her own question. And she would have slept longer than three minutes, had it not been for that voice breaking through her slumber. ❝ Five more minutes? ❞ she murmured, burying her face further into the soft sleeve of her faux-fur coat.

Summer Beginner Poi Combo Challenge

Building a beginner poi combo around repetition rather than transitions for a change! This beginner poi routine was inspired by a guy who teaches basic dance steps at my local drum circle in Malcolm X Park here in DC. My hope is that by repeating a few basic poi tricks for a few reps that it'll be an easy entry point for people wanting to learn the basics of poi dancing.
