Taylor Swift Songs as Enneagram Personality Types
The Enneagram is a personality test that classifies your personality in one of nine categories, each with different traits. Most of Taylor Swift's songs fall into two of the personality types: type 4 (the individualist) and type 9 (the peacemaker). The songs on these lists are mostly in album order - however, there are a few added onto the ends of a few of the lists that took me a little longer to place that come out of order.
TYPE 1: THE REFORMER
The reformer tends to be rational. This person is idealistic and principled - they live by their values. They are purposeful and self-controlled, and tend to be perfectionists. The songs I classified as Type 1's are songs that focus on the ideals in relationships and life. They're songs where Taylor has a purpose, and some of them tend to have more rational thoughts behind them.

TYPE 2: THE HELPER
The helper is a caring person who genuinely cares about other people. They tend to be interpersonal and generous. These people are people-pleasing, and can be possessive. The songs I classified as Type 2's are ones where she clearly shows caring for other people, sometimes to the extent of people-pleasing. She tends to be possessive in some of these songs, too.

TYPE 3: THE ACHIEVER
The achiever is a success-oriented, pragmatic, and hard working person. This person is very driven and adaptive, and is very image-conscious. The songs classified under this category show how conscious Taylor is of her own image. They're the songs where she's trying to show herself in a positive light. These are the songs where she shows herself as a hard worker and just how successful she is, without caring about those who try to bring her down.

TYPE 4: THE INDIVIDUALIST
The individualist tends to be withdrawn and sensitive. This person is self-absorbed and dramatic, and tends to be temperamental. This person is very expressive. These songs are dramatic and temperamental, the ones where Taylor is bolder about herself - she is in the right in all of these songs, even when she isn't.

The loyalist is committed and security-oriented. They tend to be anxious and suspicious of those around them. They are responsible and engaging. Taylor tends to be anxious and suspicious in a lot of the songs I classified as Type 6's. They're the songs where she's seeking security and comfort, but may not always be receiving it. Things are going wrong in many of these songs.

These are the dance songs, the ones that make you want to move. This is the smallest list of the nine personality types. While a lot of Taylor Swift songs could fall under this personality type, most of them tend to fall under another type better, hence why this list is so small.

🐨 Okay, I have a burning question—what’s your Enneagram? You know Sleeping at Last, their number songs? One through Nine? That’s the Enneagram! It’s a personality test with nine different types and subsets of various combinations of types. I’m a Three! My church does some stuff with it—mostly they make all of us “leaders” take it and then we make nerdy jokes at each other about ‘typical Seven behavior’ and whatnot. But yeah, the songs are based on each type, and they are scarily accurate.
I discovered their songs…well via a fanfiction (a GLORIOUS one, I will say, for a smaller fandom I went through a phase with) that used it for a chapter title and excerpted a song. It was called Eight, for some reason. And then I realized that holy crap, there are more of these, and they’re GOOD, and they’re based on that personality test I’d had to take literally a week before! So I listened to the Three one, and literally cried it was so beautiful. I then listened to the whole album and made multiple friends take the Enneagram test before showing them the respective song. That’s how I got into SaL.
I was rereading that fic today and remembered you like SaL, too, so, I figured I’d ask! If you don’t know your type off hand (not everyone is as nerdy as I, haha), it’s just a free online quiz. I predict you’re a Nine, Eight, or Two. But I could also be very wrong. I’m bad at predicting.
Putting it all below the keep reading :)
I love a good burning question!
I'm actually a type Four lol. So... yeah not your guesses, but it's nice that you tried! Funny story: when I read the description for Four I was like: I don't want to be like that- ohh that's why...
Although it has been a while since I've done the quiz and a lot has changed in my life over the past three years so maybe I should redo it...
I love the enneagram album, even though I've never listened to it the whole way through (only Four and maybe a few of the others? I'm not sure)
I read the thing for a type three and I can see that! Your church sounds great- me and my sister (when we were in that phase) would just go to the other: that's such a type *number* thing to do (even if it wasn't lol) Also, I love hearing about your church please send all the funny stories!
Ahh I love Sleeping At Last and I'm so glad you found their songs because all of them are just so good
Four is just <3
The first song of theirs I listened to was Saturn and it was honestly the best thing I'd ever heard. Light is also amazing- I wanted to do so many Hotch and Jack fics based off of that song, never did, but the ideas are in my brain!
I love that people remember me liking SaL, it's very sweet! I think I might redo the test now, but at the moment, I'm a Four!
