Top 5 Benefits of Using Bluetooth Access Control Systems for Your Business
In today’s fast-paced and increasingly digitized business environment, security is a top priority for every organization. As businesses evolve, so do their access control needs. The traditional lock-and-key systems are gradually being replaced by more advanced and flexible solutions like Bluetooth access control systems. These systems utilize Bluetooth technology to manage access points, offering numerous benefits for businesses of all sizes.
In this blog, we will explore the top five benefits of implementing Bluetooth access control systems in your organization and why they are an excellent choice for modern businesses.
1. Enhanced Convenience and Flexibility
One of the most significant advantages of Bluetooth access control systems is the convenience they offer. With Bluetooth technology, employees, visitors, and contractors can use their smartphones as digital keys to access secured areas. This eliminates the need for physical keycards or badges, which can be easily lost or damaged.
Using Bluetooth-enabled mobile devices for access control is also highly flexible. Administrators can manage user credentials remotely and in real time, granting or revoking access as needed. For instance, if a new employee joins the company or a contractor requires temporary access, their credentials can be sent directly to their phone, allowing them immediate access to the necessary areas. This streamlined process significantly reduces the administrative burden of managing physical keys or cards.
Additionally, Bluetooth access systems often come with multi-device compatibility, meaning they work across different types of smartphones, tablets, and other Bluetooth-enabled devices, making them ideal for businesses with a diverse workforce.
2. Increased Security
Bluetooth access control systems provide enhanced security features compared to traditional access systems. These systems use encrypted Bluetooth signals, making it much more difficult for unauthorized individuals to hack or spoof the system. Many systems also use multi-factor authentication, requiring not just the Bluetooth-enabled device but also additional credentials like a PIN or biometric data to grant access.
Moreover, businesses can monitor and track access logs in real time, allowing administrators to receive alerts about suspicious activities, such as multiple failed access attempts or entry outside of normal working hours. This data-driven approach helps identify potential security risks before they escalate, enabling proactive management.
Bluetooth access control systems also offer temporary or limited access for visitors or contractors. Administrators can set specific time windows or areas that are accessible to certain individuals, ensuring tighter control over who can enter sensitive areas of the building.
3. Cost-Effective and Scalable
Cost is always a consideration for businesses when deciding on a security solution. Fortunately, Bluetooth access control systems are highly cost-effective in the long run. While the initial setup cost may be higher than traditional lock-and-key or card-based systems, Bluetooth solutions offer significant savings over time.
For one, businesses no longer need to invest in producing, distributing, or replacing physical keys or cards. Employees simply download an app to their smartphones, reducing material costs and administrative work.
Furthermore, Bluetooth access systems are scalable, making them suitable for businesses of all sizes. Whether you have a small office or a large enterprise, these systems can easily grow with your organization. Adding new users, access points, or additional security features can be done seamlessly through the management software without requiring any hardware upgrades. This scalability allows businesses to adjust their security measures as they expand, without incurring significant costs or system disruptions.
4. Touchless and Hygienic Access
The COVID-19 pandemic brought health and hygiene into the spotlight, especially in workplaces where shared surfaces could become points of transmission. Bluetooth access control systems offer a touchless solution, significantly reducing the need for employees to physically interact with shared devices like keypads or card readers.
Users can gain access to secure areas simply by having their smartphone in proximity to the access point, with the Bluetooth signal granting entry. This reduces contact with common surfaces, thereby helping to maintain a more hygienic environment.
In addition to being beneficial for health reasons, touchless access control is also more convenient. Employees don’t need to fumble for their keys or cards — access is seamless, efficient, and automated. This creates a smoother entry experience while also enhancing workplace safety and hygiene.
5. Remote Management and Real-Time Monitoring
One of the standout features of Bluetooth access control systems is the ability to manage and monitor the system remotely. Through cloud-based platforms, administrators can oversee access control from anywhere in the world, using an internet connection. Whether it’s a large corporate building or multiple sites spread across different locations, all access points can be managed from a centralized dashboard.
Real-time monitoring allows businesses to track who is accessing which areas and when, offering invaluable insights into employee movement and access patterns. If there is a security breach or an unauthorized entry attempt, administrators can receive immediate alerts and take action, such as locking doors or revoking access privileges. This level of real-time visibility provides greater control over business premises and enhances overall security.
In case of emergencies, remote access control systems allow for quick and effective responses, such as granting emergency personnel access to secure areas or locking down certain sections of the building.

Visitor Management System
How Can Businesses Control Overstay Guests With VMS? A effective visitor management system enables businesses to specify a visitor's maximum stay time. The length of a visitor's stay at a specific place can be calculated starting from the time they checked in. Depending on the causes of the overstay, you can then send notifications to all the stakeholders and take appropriate action.
What Compliance Conditions Ought a Decent VMS to Offer? A good VMS ought to enable you to:
Store visitor information in the cloud and use it to alter the check-in process. Take their picture, pull reports, and decide whether to approve or reject a guest check-in. Limit access to the visitor's data by confirming the validity of their ID. Amass signatures
How Can a VMS Assist with COVID-19 Compliance in Offices? The following options are provided by a visitor management system for businesses: Users do not need to touch a kiosk for the touchless QR code-based visitor check-in to work. They can utilise their smartphones in its place. Health statement: Visitors are questioned appropriately to determine their current state of health. Checking in by invitation only gives the host the option of continuing the invitation or not.
What Is the Price of a Visitor Management System? The features supplied determine the typical cost of VMS. When invoiced annually, the "Premium" edition of Quest's enterprise visitor management system is available for USD 79 per month per site. Advanced integrations, OTP verification, digital badges, single sign-on, personalised SLA, on-site support, and more services are available.

The Role of Wireless Access Control Systems in Facilitating Remote Work and Flexible Office Spaces
In the post-pandemic world, remote work and flexible office spaces have become the new norm. As businesses adapt to these changes, the demand for modern, adaptable security solutions has risen sharply. One such solution is the wireless access control system, which offers the flexibility, scalability, and security that today’s workplaces need. This blog explores how wireless access control systems are facilitating remote work and flexible office environments, enhancing both convenience and security.
The Shift to Remote Work and Flexible Office Spaces
The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the transition to remote work, forcing companies to rethink traditional office setups. As a result, hybrid work models and flexible office spaces have gained popularity. These new work environments demand dynamic security solutions that can adapt to the fluid nature of where and how people work. Wireless access control systems are uniquely positioned to meet these needs by offering the flexibility to manage access remotely while maintaining a high level of security.
What Are Wireless Access Control Systems?
Wireless access control systems are security solutions that allow users to control entry to a building or specific areas within it without the need for physical wiring. These systems use wireless communication technologies, such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, or RFID, to manage access permissions. Unlike traditional wired systems, wireless access control is easier to install, more cost-effective, and can be managed remotely.
By eliminating the need for complex wiring infrastructure, wireless access control systems are ideal for businesses looking to implement security solutions in dynamic and flexible work environments.
How Wireless Access Control Systems Facilitate Remote Work
Remote Access Management One of the biggest challenges of remote work is managing access to office spaces without being physically present. Wireless access control systems solve this problem by allowing administrators to manage access rights remotely. Whether it's granting temporary access to a visiting contractor or revoking access for an employee who has left the company, these tasks can be handled from anywhere using a cloud-based platform. This remote management capability ensures that businesses can maintain control over who has access to their premises, even if the security team is working from a different location.
Mobile Credentials Wireless access control systems often come with mobile credentialing features, which allow employees to use their smartphones to gain access to buildings or specific areas. This not only eliminates the need for physical keycards but also makes it easier for remote workers who may not regularly visit the office to access the building when needed. Mobile credentials can be issued, revoked, or modified in real-time, making it easy for businesses to manage access rights in a fluid work environment. Additionally, this touchless access solution is particularly relevant in the post-pandemic world, where minimizing physical contact is a priority.
Integration with Other Systems Wireless access control systems can integrate with other security and workplace management systems, such as video surveillance, visitor management, and employee attendance tracking. This integration allows businesses to create a comprehensive security ecosystem that supports the unique needs of a remote and hybrid workforce. For example, access control data can be linked with attendance management systems to monitor employee presence, even if they are working from multiple locations. This seamless integration ensures that businesses have a complete overview of their security and operations.
Supporting Flexible Office Spaces
Scalability Flexible office spaces require scalable security solutions that can adapt as the business grows or changes. Wireless access control systems are easily scalable, allowing businesses to add or remove access points as needed. Whether a company is expanding into new office spaces or downsizing to a smaller footprint, the system can be adjusted accordingly without the need for extensive rewiring. This scalability is particularly beneficial for co-working spaces, where the number of users and access requirements can change frequently. Wireless access control systems make it easy to adjust access permissions based on the needs of the space and its occupants.
Hot Desking and Shared Spaces In flexible office environments, hot desking and shared spaces are common. Wireless access control systems can be used to manage access to these shared areas, ensuring that only authorized employees can use certain desks or rooms. This helps prevent overcrowding and ensures that spaces are used efficiently. Additionally, businesses can use the system to monitor space utilization, providing valuable insights into how often certain areas are used and helping to optimize the layout of the office.
Cost-Effectiveness Installing a traditional wired access control system in a flexible office space can be costly and time-consuming. Wireless access control systems, on the other hand, are more cost-effective to install and maintain. Without the need for extensive cabling, installation is quicker, less disruptive, and requires less labor. This cost-effectiveness is especially important for businesses that are experimenting with new office layouts or planning for future growth. Wireless systems provide the flexibility to adapt to changes without incurring significant additional costs.
Enhancing Security in a Dynamic Work Environment
Real-Time Monitoring Wireless access control systems provide real-time monitoring of access points, allowing security teams to respond quickly to any unauthorized attempts to enter the premises. This is particularly important in a flexible work environment, where the security landscape can change frequently. With real-time monitoring, businesses can ensure that their office spaces remain secure, even if they are not fully occupied at all times.
Audit Trails and Reporting Wireless access control systems generate detailed audit trails and reports, providing businesses with valuable insights into access patterns and security incidents. These reports can be used to improve security protocols, identify potential vulnerabilities, and ensure compliance with industry regulations. For businesses with remote workers and flexible office spaces, having access to this data is crucial for maintaining a high level of security and ensuring that all access points are properly managed.

Doors for Buildings: Why they Matter & How They Work
Tumblr media
Picture this: After you have finished your checkout, at the grocery shop with four heavy bags in your hand, the cashier has neatly bagged your groceries. Nothing happens as you approach the large, glass door. Is it possible that the door didn't open automatically? You probably don't know what it would be like not to have an automatic door. Automated doors were created over many decades to allow for hands-free entry and exit.
Multifamily and commercial building owners, managers, developers, and/or owners are always looking for ways to improve their property. Automated doors are safer, more convenient, and offer a seamless, hands-free access experience for tenants, visitors, as well as building staff. Continue reading to find out more about the importance of automatic doors in buildings.
Tumblr media
How do automatic doors work? An automatic door requires a sensor to determine when it needs to be opened. Once the sensor has detected a cue, it sends a signal to the door operator mechanism. The mechanism then opens the door after receiving the signal. These are the three most commonly used types of automatic doors sensors:
Pressure sensors
Motion detection and optical sensor
Access control or video intercom system
1. Pressure sensors were first introduced in 1960. They detect changes in pressure or weight and tell when the door must be opened. Pressure sensors are typically installed as mats on the ground or pads. A pressure sensor detects when a person approaches the door and opens it when the person steps on the mat.
2. Motion detection and optical sensor. Many automatic doors now have motion-detecting sensor technology. Motion detectors rely on either passive infrared (PIR), or microwave pulses to detect movement. Microwave beam motion detectors emit pulses off microwaves which measure the reflections of moving objects. A passive infrared sensor, however, measures temperature changes to detect heat. Infrared sensors are more costly than microwave sensors, as they cover a wider area. They can also be subject to interference from electrical currents.
3. An access control system or video intercom system can be used to detect when automatic doors should be opened. Instead of sensing pressure or motion, the door opens by receiving a signal from an Access Control System. This signal can come from a keycard (or fob), a smartphone or any other device programmed with the access controller system.
Multifamily and commercial buildings with limited access requirements can have their doors controlled remotely by cloud-based access controls systems or smart video intercoms. A video intercom or access control system is required for most commercial and multifamily buildings.
Smart video intercoms and access control systems can also improve the tenant experience. The cloud connects the access control system and video intercom to allow building staff the additional convenience of remotely managing access permissions from a web browser. This means that staff don't need to physically visit the building to upgrade their system.
Tumblr media
How does a sensor open the door?
Once the sensor has determined that an individual needs to enter the building's premises, it will send a signal to activate the door opening mechanism. The electric motor that powers the door opens it will be used to open the door depending on the type of door. Automatic doors come in many forms:
Sliding doors: These doors can be fixed to overhead tracks or attached with tracks and rollers.
Swinging doors for one-way traffic: Automatic swinging doors can open in or outside.
Folding doors: Perfect for small entrances, where space is limited, automatic folding doors fold into themselves to create a passageway.
Revolving doors: Ideal in high-traffic areas, automatic doors allow simultaneous entry or exit.
The right door to fit your building's needs depends on how pedestrians use your property, and the space available.
Tumblr media
Let's now understand how automatic doors operate. Why should you care and what are the benefits of automatic doors? Automated doors have many benefits:
Energy savings: Automatic doors can preserve conditioned air, which in turn will reduce heating and cooling costs.
Touchless entry: No one needs to touch any shared surfaces, such as handles or doors, with an automated door. This helps to prevent germ spread.
Convenience. People appreciate the ease of hand-free entry to their building, especially when it comes to carrying grocery bags, waving their kids or bringing home a new piece of heavy furniture.
How does an automatic door allow for touchless entry?
Automated doors allow for touchless entry. This allows people to walk through the entryway and not have to touch the door. The touchless entry makes apartments safer and more convenient for residents. An automatic door and access control system are required to provide touchless access for commercial properties with restricted access or multifamily buildings.

Resources for Keeping Current on Emerging Technology
Technology is constantly advancing, and inventors are always coming out with the next big thing! It’s exciting but can also be overwhelming. In a world run by tech, it’s important to keep up to date on the latest news in emerging technology, especially when choosing to enter any field of work that deals with technology. I’ve provided a list of resources that you can access in order to stay current on emerging technology.
Digital Trends | https://www.digitaltrends.com/
Digital Trends is an online media website that provides articles, reviews, and breaking news on the latest in technology. Users can navigate to their site for product reviews by category, ranging from the best TVs to the best home security systems. This site is also great for tech news and following along to see the latest innovations.
One article on Digital Trends talks about the Mobile World Congress and Microsoft’s presentation of their new “mixed reality headset” – the HoloLens2 (Bacchus, 2019). The HoloLens headset projects virtual reality into the real world. The new generation is predicted to incorporate artificial intelligence as well. The HoloLens2 will be showcased at the Mobile World Congress, which users can find the livestream link on Digital Trend’s website as well.
Flipboard | https://flipboard.com/
Flipboard is an aggregate of social sites that curates articles for users to catch up on the latest news all at one location. As a website visitor, Flipboard displays snippets of trending articles from the most popular news sites based on various categories. If a user signs up for a Flipboard account, they can customize settings to display more articles about their topics of interest and even follow certain keywords. By simply selecting the “Technology” tab, users can find all of the latest and greatest in tech.
Apple and Samsung battle back and forth for the best mobile phone. Recent iPhones have been underwhelming, but Flipboard highlighted an article from CNet that introduced a new feature on the Samsung Galaxy S10, which Apple has yet to offer – battery sharing between devices (Azizi, 2019).
New York Times | https://www.nytimes.com/section/technology
The New York Times is one of the most popular news outlets in America. Some of history’s greatest headlines were published by the New York Times. Users can access articles about almost any topic, but it’s also a great resource for keeping up to date with the latest in emerging technology.
An article published Friday introduces the implementation of virtual and augmented reality in the travel industry. Hotels are taking advantage of VR by providing “360-degree ‘look-arounds’ of their properties” so that hotel guests can get a better idea of the features and amenities during their visit. Airlines are using AR to help passengers determine if their luggage meet certain sizing requirements and to “entertain passengers at the airport while they wait for departure” with animated characters and landscapes to explore from their mobile devices (Sablich, 2019).
The Conversation | https://theconversation.com/us/technology
The Conversation is another media site, but their main idea is that they provided journalism with academic and scholarly sources. The Conversation US team identified a problem that public discourse is diminishing due to the lack of confidence in the media, so their solution was to provide journalism with an academic background to ensure that they are reporting clear facts (The Conversation US, 2019). The Conversation provides articles on a range of topics, and their “Science + Technology” category offers exciting news about the latest in science, tech, and the mashup between the two. This resource is great for learning about emerging tech, but also getting a broader perspective of what it means in the world we live in today.
Schaefer (2018) joins the conversation about one “rogue” Chinese scientist, He Jiankui, who announced the birth of gene-edited twin babies. Against scientific protocol and ethical standards, Jiankui performed gene-editing research on volunteer couples who feared the risk of contracting HIV to their children. This article points out a few ethical issues with the matter of gene-editing and various perspectives on why Jiankui’s actions were right or wrong. Gene augmentation is an emerging technology of particular concern because there are so many ethical questions and unanswered questions about the long-term impacts.
CNet | https://www.cnet.com/
Similar to Digital Trends, CNet also offers countless information and articles for everything tech. They are most known for their “Best of” articles, which many users trust their analysis to advise on the best products to purchase. CNet also provides a ton of reviews for various products which also helps consumers to make wise decisions on their purchases. CNet is a perfect resource for learning about emerging technology in consumer products and comparing it to other products on various characteristics and features.
Another anticipated topic at the Mobile World Congress is the “touchless UI” on the new LG phones. A short teaser video showed a hand controlling a mobile device solely by waving their hand above the device. The screen changed while no physical contact was made between the user and the device (Musil, 2019).
