Vampires and Catholicism
I keep mentioning the sect of Catholicism Audrey’s mother belonged to, but haven’t really elaborated on it much, so I’ll tack down some of the details here.
First...they call themselves Januarians, after St. Januarius, the patron saint of blood donors (lol). This saint has two major shrines: one in Naples, Italy (he is also a patron saint of that city) and one in Manhattan called the Church of the Most Precious Blood. Both are run by Januarian vampires, though they are also open to unsuspecting mortals. The shrine in Naples is known for a miracle involving the liquefaction of St. Januarius’ blood, which was supposedly collected after his beheading in the 1300′s. The thrice-yearly miracle attracts  thousands of mortals who hope to witness this event on September 19 (Saint Januarius's Day, commemorating his martyrdom), on December 16 (celebrating his patronage of Naples and its archdiocese), and on the Saturday before the first Sunday of May (commemorating the reunification of his relics). These events provide a huge amount of funding to the Januarians. Despite the strong mortal attendance to these events (which also includes St. Januarius Day festival on Sept. 19 in Little Italy, NYC), they’re very secretive and only verified members of the sect are allowed to attend their Mass rituals. Januarians take blood miracles and transubstantiation very, very literally; while mortal Roman Catholics generally also believe in the miracle of transubstantiation during the Holy Mass, they’re using wine during their Mass. Januarians get rid of that middle step all together and drink blood during mass, with the “transubstantiation” happening being the blood of a mortal transforning into the blood of Christ. The death of mortals and drinking blood is, obviously, part and parcel of vampire life, but Januarians ritualize it and participate in a human sacrifice every Sunday night (often, their victims are pulled from daytime mortal Mass). Januarian Mass looks pretty much the same as a mortal one, besides happening at night (which, tbh, isn’t all that unusual for Catholics, either) and including ritualized murder, with a lot of the same traditional costuming worn by priests and very similar (maybe more lavish, given how much money vampires generally have to give as tithe) decor within their churches.
I like to imagine the Catholic church is heavily infiltrated with vampires and has been for hundreds of years, even non-Januarians, for the sake of being able to pull strings within a very powerful organization (surely, even a few of the more infamously debauched popes were actually vampires). There’s definitely a question in regards to how much mortal Catholic officials in the Vatican, as well as in the two Januarian churches, know about what goes on. I think it’s generally a thing where “the Pope personally said stfu about this so we leave at night and don’t question the priest that shows up with his congregation at sundown, and if there’s a stain on the altar the next day, we just assume some wine got spilled.” And that’s the end of it. Priests who do have questions are “relocated to other parishes.”    Januarians are a small sect and pretty roundly rejected by most vampires for being pretty militantly religious, but they do have fairly significant numbers (in at least the hundreds, split between two locations) located near the above mentioned shrines; Lavinia would travel weekly to attend Mass in NYC from Boston and then from her home near Phersipnai’s outside of Naples when she was living there (Unlike her daughter, Lavinia was not prone to travel or moving around much). Generally, Phersipnai just rolled her eyes at her daughter’s participation; she’d stopped bothering to argue with her about it centuries ago.
Like I’ve mentioned before, Audrey’s upbringing is pretty devoutly Catholic, though Audrey was never allowed to attend Mass and ended up feeling similarly to Phersipnai about it. She definitely has some odd views about sex and marriage due to her upbringing, though, given both the time period and her mother. Audrey mostly refers to the Januarians as a cult if her mother isn’t around. After Lavinia dies in the early 1980s of an HIV infection she contracted from blood she drank during Mass (Januarians refused to use blood bank blood in their rituals, which made them particularly susceptible), Audrey is very unfriendly with Januarians and will openly deride them and their beliefs; when she meets them at Coalition events, she can be extremely rude. However, as a consequence of their refusal to use blood bank blood during the 80′s and 90′s, HIV wiped out a huge number of followers, and by the 2000′s Januarians are fairly rare; Audrey doesn’t encounter them very often anymore.

Yeah Bumblebee was good. While the plot was nothing special it was just nice to have A Transformer movie with focus, The human characters weren't just the worst thing imaginable, & The Transformers (for most of them) were just Upgrade versions of the cartoons & not the overly complicated mess of metal from the previous films.
Yeah.. that’s what I didn’t like about the Transforners movies I have seen. Why’d they take away their faces? They were already robots who turn into cars and planes and whatever... what, did they think human-like faces was going to be inplausible??

So like I said a bit ago, I like to use this toy of Backtrack as a #cheap Transformers god. I could never afford a toy of Primus or Unicron, but since they became planets and Backtrack transforms into a metallic-looking orb, I can pretend this bot is a part of their pantheon. A minor god, given how much smaller they are than Primus and Unicron, but they are still a cheap way to play with a titanic robot. And if I ever somehow get Unicron, I will be able to have a die to fight him without me buying Primus too. I particularly imagine this toy as Cancix; who was one of the first children of Primus in the fiction, years before the concept of the Thirteen was invented. She is identified as a lady in BWU, and in her appearance as part of the Covenant she has some of Primus's divinity, so she is a goddess. And give her name she sounds crablike, much like the shape of Backtrack. So I think the name fits the toy, and fits my need for a Transforners god to play with. So you know if you are on a budget and want to play with a Transformers deity, go online, Backtrack is pretty cheap, sure it is around thirteen dollars but it comes with three other Minicons including a gorilla who turns into a saw blade. So you know, worth it. @thefingerfuckingfemalefury @jogress @ayellowbirds @avengersemhwasp1
