Safety First, Affordability Always: Why the Kia Sonet is a Smart Choice
With skyrocketing prices across vehicle segments, combining safety and affordability seems near impossible. Yet there are still options for the value-focused buyer unwilling to compromise on safety to stretch their budget.
The Kia Sonet subcompact SUV cars pull off this combination better than most, delivering a modern, well-equipped vehicle with ample safety features at a reasonable price point. For those seeking security without breaking the bank or undercutting needs, the Sonet presents an intriguing proposition worth exploring further.
Staying Safe in Style
The Kia Sonet keeps you protected with some clever safety technology:
ABS, ESC and a Hill Assist system help maintain control by preventing wheel lock-ups, stabilizing the car on turns and keeping you from rolling backwards on inclines.
Airbags surround occupants with safety. There are two front airbags, two side airbags, and two curtain airbags running the length of the cabin—a total of six to cushion you.
The Blind View Monitor is a smart addition, showing the car's sides in the instrument cluster screen. So, you can spot any hazards in the usually unseen blind spots.
Parking is made hassle-free thanks to sensors front and back that beep faster as you near obstacles.
Everyone is reminded to buckle up properly, no matter where they sit. The 3-point seat belts have reminders for all seats.
Disc brakes on each wheel and Emergency Stop Signal technology flash the brake lights for sudden stops to alert others.
Finally, a 360-degree camera gives your eyes all around the car, making driving in tight spots much easier.
The Sonet doesn't compromise on safety - it has all the essential tech to keep you and your loved ones protected.
Affordability of the Kia Sonet
Tumblr media
The Kia Sonet India offers an accessible entry point into the subcompact SUV segment:
Priced between ₹7,99,000 and 15,00,000 lakhs, the Sonet competes with rivals like Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, and Tata Nexon. The Sonet has comparable features to competitors, including under-body protection, a digital instrument cluster, an electric sunroof, and ventilated seats.
The Kia Sonet offers frugal ownership with impressive fuel economy for the diesel variant. Maintenance costs are also light on the pocket, with service intervals set at 10,000 km or 1 year. Additionally, Kia provides a 3-year Warranty* for unlimited kilometres (T&C applied), ensuring complete peace of mind. The Sonet stands out for its flexible financing options, which are designed to make purchasing easier.
Through partnerships with leading banks, customers can benefit from low-interest loans, deferred payment plans, and buyback guarantees. Down payments can start from as low as ₹25,000*, making the Sonet accessible to a broader range of buyers. Despite its affordability, the Sonet competes well with more expensive rivals by emphasizing value.
The Sonet aims to be an affordable car with good features and driving quality. This balance of affordability and comprehensive offerings makes the Kia Sonet an intelligent choice for those looking for a reliable, economical, and feature-rich SUV. For the latest details and specific offers, it’s always best to check with local Kia dealerships or the official Kia India website.
Space and Power to Suit Your Lifestyle
The Sonet checks the right boxes whether your priority is passengers, cargo, or performance:
With seating for 5, the cabin offers ample room for small families or groups of friends. The rear seats also have their own AC vents and charging ports.
With its class-leading 385-litre capacity, the smartly shaped trunk swallows up luggage. That's plenty for travel or Costco runs. The 60:40 split rear seats fold away to make even more space when required.
The new Kia Sonet offers choices for both power-hungry drivers and practicality-focused buyers. For those wanting maximum thrills, there's a punchy 1.0L GDI turbo-petrol putting out 120PS and 172Nm. Transmission options include a smooth-shifting 6-speed iMT clutchless manual or a quick-witted 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
For city commuting needs, a frugal 1.2L petrol with 83PS and 115Nm comes paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Finally, the efficient 1.5L diesel balances performance and economy with 116PS and 250Nm on tap, coupled to a 6-speed manual, intelligent MT or conventional 6-speed torque converter automatic. So, whether you need speed or max mileage, the Sonet has an engine-gearbox combination to put a smile on your face.
The Bottom Line
The Kia Sonet hits the spot between safety, affordability, and practicality. With ample safety tech and features, frugal ownership costs, versatile interior space, and capable powertrains, this well-rounded compact SUV makes a compelling case for buyers seeking value without compromise. The Sonet punches above its weight, representing a smart purchase for many.

The Indian automotive industry is witnessing a surge in demand for CNG vehicles due to their fuel efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Tata Motors, a frontrunner in the Indian car market, is poised to capitalize on this trend with the introduction of the highly anticipated Tata Nexon CNG. This groundbreaking subcompact SUV promises to be a game-changer, becoming the first CNG car in India to be powered by a turbo-petrol engine. A Trailblazer in CNG Technology: The Tata Nexon CNG Unleashing Turbocharged CNG Performance: First-of-its-kind Technology: The Tata Nexon CNG stands out as a true innovator in the CNG segment. It deviates from the conventional approach of using naturally aspirated engines in CNG vehicles by incorporating a 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine. This bold move has the potential to revolutionize the CNG driving experience, offering a unique blend of power and efficiency. Expected Power Output: While the exact power figures for the Nexon CNG haven't been officially revealed, it's expected to utilize the same 1.2-liter turbo-petrol engine found in the standard Nexon. This engine produces a healthy 120 PS of power and 170 Nm of torque. However, due to the inherent differences in CNG combustion compared to gasoline, the CNG variant might see a slight decrease in these output figures. Transmission Options: Catering to Diverse Driving Preferences: Tata Motors is likely to equip the Nexon CNG with two transmission options: a 5-speed manual gearbox and an AMT (automated manual transmission) unit. The inclusion of the AMT option aligns with the strategy adopted in other Tata CNG offerings like the Tiago and Tigor, catering to drivers who prefer a more convenient automatic driving experience. Performance and Mileage – The Waiting Game: Official specifications regarding the performance and fuel efficiency of the Nexon CNG remain under wraps. Real-world testing will be crucial in determining the exact impact of CNG on the Nexon's acceleration, top speed, and overall driving dynamics. However, the presence of the turbocharged engine offers a glimmer of hope for maintaining a balance between performance and fuel economy. Features and Safety: A Feature-Rich CNG Experience (tentative) While the final feature list for the Nexon CNG awaits official confirmation, here's a potential breakdown based on the features offered in the standard Nexon variants: Top-Tier Technology (if offered in CNG variants): 10.25-inch Touchscreen Infotainment System: A large and intuitive touchscreen infotainment system promises a seamless user experience, offering access to navigation, entertainment features, and vehicle settings. 10.25-inch Digital Driver's Display: A high-resolution digital driver's display enhances clarity and information accessibility, keeping crucial driving data within the driver's line of sight. Automatic Climate Control: Maintaining cabin comfort is a breeze with automatic climate control, ensuring a pleasant driving experience for all occupants. Cruise Control: Effortless highway cruising becomes possible with cruise control, allowing drivers to maintain a constant speed without manually controlling the accelerator pedal. Wireless Phone Charger: Conveniently charge your compatible smartphone on the go with a wireless charging pad, eliminating the need for tangled wires. Ventilated Front Seats: Beat the heat and ensure maximum comfort during long journeys with ventilated front seats that circulate air to keep occupants cool. Single-Pane Sunroof: Introduce an airy and open ambiance to the cabin with a panoramic sunroof, perfect for enjoying scenic vistas or letting in natural light. Safety First: Comprehensive Safety Features (tentative): The Nexon CNG is expected to inherit the robust safety features of the standard Nexon, potentially including: Six airbags (dual front, side, and curtain) Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) Electronic Stability Control (ESC) Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) ISOFIX child seat anchors for enhanced child safety 360-degree camera with a blind view monitor for improved parking maneuverability and overall visibility Feature Availability – A Note of Caution: It's important to remember that the features listed above are based on the features offered in the highest trims of the standard Nexon. There's a possibility that Tata Motors might offer the CNG option in select variants, potentially excluding some of the features mentioned. It's best to await official confirmation from Tata Motors regarding the specific features that will be available in the Nexon CNG variants. FAQs: Q: When will the Tata Nexon CNG be launched? A: Tata Motors hasn't officially announced a launch date for the Nexon CNG. However, considering the recent camouflaged test mule sightings, a launch sometime in 2024 seems likely. Q: Will the Nexon CNG offer the same power and performance as the standard Nexon? A: The Nexon CNG's power output is expected to be slightly lower than the standard Nexon due to the inherent differences in CNG combustion. However, the presence of the turbocharged engine suggests it might offer a more engaging driving experience compared to other CNG SUVs with naturally aspirated engines. Q: What are the potential benefits of the Nexon CNG's turbocharged engine? A: The turbocharged engine has the potential to offer advantages like improved acceleration, better drivability at higher speeds, and potentially even better fuel efficiency compared to a naturally aspirated CNG engine (real-world testing will be required to confirm these benefits). Q: Will the CNG option be available in all Nexon variants? A: There's no official confirmation yet, but Tata Motors might offer the CNG option in select variants, potentially excluding some of the top-end features found in the highest trims of the standard Nexon.

Reasons You Should Buy A Pre-Owned VW Polo
Hatchbacks are more than just a car for Indian car lovers who have to navigate through the hustling and bustling traffic-laden Indian roads. They are a symbol of dependability, elegance, and joy. While you might wish to rush to the nearest dealership to snap up a brand-new model, why not explore an alternative avenue that just might surprise you—the preowned route?
Amongst the many pre-owned vehicles, one name stands out, commanding attention with its German engineering prowess and the widest engine and transmission offerings: the used VW Polo.
But the real question is, should you buy a pre-owned Volkswagen Polo in 2023 when the automotive industry offers countless new and exciting options? Let’s find out.
Tumblr media
Why Should You Consider the Volkswagen Polo
With its stylish design, superior engineering, and a host of advanced features, the Volkswagen Polo proves that good things do come in small packages. In fact, the Polo was one of the first made-in-India hatchbacks in the segment that offered safety features like dual airbags as a standard offering. Over ten years ago, the Volkswagen Polo landed in India and won the hearts of car enthusiasts and daily drivers. In 2014, it earned a respectable 4-star safety rating from the Global NCAP, further establishing itself in the market.
If you’re looking to buy a car this year, consider a pre-owned Polo. Trustworthy, practical and sleek, here are a few reasons why owning one will upgrade your driving experience.
Tumblr media
Widest Range of Engine Options
Volkswagen equipped Polo with a wide range of petrol and diesel engines that are quite popular for their reliability. Almost all these sturdy engines at the core of the Polo can clock thousands of kilometres without any major issues popping up.
In its early years, the Polo made its mark with the reliable 1.2-litre Multi-Point Injection (MPI) petrol engine with a commendable power output of 74 PS, which was quite good compared to the rival hatchbacks.
While this engine offered a perfect balance of efficiency and peppy performance, there was an increased demand for diesel-powered vehicles. Responding to the demands of Polo lovers, Volkswagen brought out the 1.2-litre Turbocharged Diesel Injection (TDI) engine. Offering a power output of approximately 74 PS and 180 Nm of torque, this engine option was a popular choice among long-distance travellers because of its better efficiency and robust torque delivery.
Building on the success of its predecessor, in 2013 and 2015, the Polo came equipped with the turbocharged 1.2-litre TSI engine and 1.5-litre TDI engine, respectively. Both of these engine options offered improved performance with a thrilling driving experience. The 1.5-litre TDI engine was specifically lauded for its refined power delivery and exceptional mileage.
In 2019, following the BS6 modifications, Volkswagen made significant changes to the Polo. The new model introduction saw the return of the 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine and a turbo-petrol TSI engine, offering an exciting range of options for car enthusiasts. Whether you favour fuel efficiency, spirited driving, or a fusion of both, the Polo’s diverse engine options make it an incredibly desirable choice in the used car market.
Timeless Design
Over the years, the Volkswagen Polo has evolved while staying true to its classic German roots, resulting in a hatchback that is instantly recognisable.
From its precision-machined alloy wheels to the honeycomb grille, one of the hallmarks of the Polo’s design philosophy is its attention to detail. The clean, elegant lines, aerodynamic shape, the iconic VW badge positioned prominently upfront, and the seamless integration of the door handles into the bodywork are simply understated in the world of hatchbacks.
The Polo’s timeless design stands as a true testament to its legacy as compared to what the competition offers.
Engaging Driving Dynamics
One of the things that truly sets the Polo apart from its competitors is its engaging driving dynamics. The car’s well-tuned sporty suspension set-up, responsive steering, and refined chassis effortlessly combine to deliver a satisfying and engaging driving experience. Volkswagen Polo’s ergonomic controls, super comfortable seats, and advanced infotainment system that seamlessly integrates with your smartphone to access your favourite apps, music, and navigation contribute to a distraction-free and spirited driving experience.
While the Volkswagen Polo may look like a compact car, the hatchback takes the concept of engaging driving dynamics to a whole new level, no matter how twisted the turns get.
German Engineering at its Finest
The Volkswagen Polo’s reliability and cutting-edge features were a testament to its rich German heritage, making it stand out from the competition. Its sturdy construction, inherited from sharing the same platform as the Audi A1 and Skoda Fabia, was a prime example of top-notch German engineering.
Every inch of the Polo was designed with utmost precision and meticulousness to deliver a truly exhilarating driving experience. With its sleek design and top-of-the-line features, the Volkswagen Polo is a true masterpiece of German engineering.
How Old Should Your Pre-owned Volkswagen Polo Be?
For those seeking a Polo, it’s advisable to focus on models produced from 2014 to 2020. This offers a desirable balance between a relatively modern vehicle with contemporary engineering and avoiding the steep initial depreciation. Besides, these models boast graceful styling, refined interior quality, and updated tech against their predecessors.
What To Look Out for When You Buy a Volkswagen Polo?
If you’re thinking about getting a used Volkswagen Polo, you definitely want to know what you’re getting into. Considering the fact that Polo has been around in India since 2009, most of the models in the pre-owned cars market have definitely been through a lot.
Therefore, it’s important to do your homework on the common issues that could arise with Polo. Here are some pitfalls to look out for that can help you avoid any potential mishaps:
Emission Scandal Recall
Volkswagen was involved in an infamous emission scandal in 2015, which sadly affected an extensive batch of Indian Polos as well. According to the Automotive Research Institute of India (ARAI), VW equipped certain Polo GT cars manufactured in India with illegal software to bypass regulatory testing.
Following the scandal, Volkswagen initiated a massive recall campaign to address the emission issue in Polo GTs. VW then tweaked the affected vehicles with updated software and, in some cases, hardware modifications to bring them into compliance with emissions standards. Hence, you should also check the emissions for any used Polo you are considering.
Suspension Noises
Many Volkswagen Polos that have covered more than 40000 km make strange noises, especially when driven over potholes and bumpy roads. Cracked front lower arm bushes, a crucial component that connects the wheel hub and frame, may be causing this issue. In severe cases, a faulty lower arm bush can lead to a loss of handling control. Therefore, it’s important to test drive a used Volkswagen Polo on rough roads to check the suspension’s condition.
High Engine Oil Consumption
Many owners have reported high engine oil consumption in various models of the Polo. Neglecting this issue could lead to increased maintenance costs and potential engine damage. As a buyer, it is advisable to thoroughly inspect the car’s maintenance records, ask about any previous issues, and consider obtaining a professional inspection before finalizing the purchase.
Window Problems
Certain Volkswagen Polo variants have reported window problems. Over time, these variants have experienced slow or obstructed window movement, leading to windows getting completely jammed and buttons becoming defunct. This issue occurs due to debris accumulating in the window channels, which hinders their movement and puts excessive stress on the motor. If not addressed, the motor burns out and causes the entire channel to fail, requiring replacement for each component. Therefore, thoroughly check the functionality of the power windows before purchasing a used Volkswagen Polo.
How Much Should a Pre-Owned Volkswagen Polo Cost?
Depending on several factors, including the year of make, variant, condition, and any additional features or modifications, a pre-owned Polo can be purchased for as little as Rs. 4.50 Lakh to as much as Rs. 8.50 Lakh (2012 to 2019).
Is a Used Volkswagen Polo Worth Buying in 2023?
When considering buying a pre-owned hatchback in 2023, the Volkswagen Polo certainly deserves your attention. The Polo has proven itself as a timeless classic, renowned for its reliability, stylish design, and exceptional driving experience. With its solid build quality and German engineering, this car offers outstanding value for your money.
What truly sets the Polo apart is its unwavering reliability and durability. The efficient engine options provide ample power while keeping fuel consumption in check, ensuring a wallet-friendly ownership experience.

Revving into 2024: Unveiling the Hottest New Cars – From Next Gen Swift to High-Tech BMWs and Citroen’s Unique C3X Sedan
Welcome to our 2024 new car special and while we’ll talk of upcoming SUVs and electric vehicles in future , this one’s all about new and updated hatchbacks, sedans and MPVs due for launch over the coming year.
let us know in the comments which is the car you’re most excited about and while you’re at it, do ensure you’re subscribed to AutoCraft India and have hit the bell icon to be notified every time we have.
Next Gen Maruti Suzuki Swift:
Let’s start with hatchbacks. There’s only one all new hatchback set for launch next year and it’s a big one. It’s the next gen Maruti Suzuki Swift. Shown in near production ready form at the Japan Mobility Show last month, the new Swift is not a big departure to the current car in its basic look.
However, the new car has a longer nose with a clamshell bonnet, a pair of freshly designed LED headlamps with L -shaped LED DRLs as well as a new grille finished in gloss black. There’s a character line that runs the length of the car and a detail of note at the sides is that the rear door handle has been moved to the conventional position at the door from the C pillar as on the current car.
Styling at the back is unmistakably Swift with new C -shaped LED elements on the tail lamps enhancing the look. Inside the Swift looks familiar with the dash design very similar to that of the Frans.
It also shares several bits with other Maruti’s like the freestanding infotainment system, the climate control switches and flat bottom steering wheel. Seat comfort as well as space remain quite similar to the current version as well.
The new Swift will debut in India with the new 1 .2 -litre 3 -cylinder engine in place of the current K -12 1 .2 -litre 4 -cylinder unit. Codename Z12, the new naturally aspirated engine will make about the same 90hp as the K -12 unit but torque is said to be improved which should help performance in turn.
Enhanced efficiency and reduced emissions are also promised. The engine will likely be offered with manual and AMD gearboxes. The model will be built on Suzuki’s heart tech platform as before but expect some enhancements to the build as was the case with the latest Gen Baleno.
The new Swift has already been spotted testing in India and is expected to go on sale in early 2024. Pricing will be in the range of 6 .5 to 9 .5 lakh rupees extra room.
Tata Altroz Update:
The Tata Altroz is due for an update and the car maker hinted at what’s to come with the Altroz racer displayed at AutoExpo 2023.
The updated Altroz will see a feature upgrade with the move to Tata’s new 10 .25 inch touchscreen and digital dials and a sunroof ventilated front seats and a wireless phone charger are also expected.
The safety suite will also be enhanced with six airbags. Engine options will include the current 1 .2 litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and 1 .5 litre diesel while the 1 .2 litre turbo petrol is likely to see power up by 10 hp to 120 hp.
There will also be the move to a 6 speed manual gearbox in place of the current 5 speed unit. Over to the new sedans headed our way.
8th Gen BMW 5 Series (Long Wheelbase):
The 8th gen BMW 5 series is out and the big news is that it’s coming to India in long wheelbase form that’ll help level the playing field with the Mercedes E -Class that’s sold in India in extended form.
In look the latest 5 is subtle as new BMWs go. The grille is the focal point up front and comes flanked by swept back headlamps. Surfacing is tight all around though the rear end doesn’t link to its predecessors.
Revving into 2024: Unveiling the Hottest New Cars – From Next Gen Swift to High-Tech BMWs and Citroen’s Unique C3X Sedan
Inside there’s the very best of new HBMWs. 12 .3 inch digital dials and a 14 .9 inch touchscreen lend the new 5 the requisite modernity and there’s 7 series like crystal look detailing for a rich look.
There’s a comprehensive ambient lighting suite as well. Space at the back will see a big jump up thanks to the move to a long wheelbase format. 2 .0L petrol and diesel engines with mild hybrid tech will be the mainstay of the range and 3 .0L petrol and diesels could be offered as well.
The 5 series’ electric sibling the i5 is also India bound and will be covered in more detail in our upcoming new EVs for 2024.
Citroen is readying its first sedan for India and in true French fashion it’ll be a unique take on the sedan.
Citroen C3X
Think of the model as a sedan with the ground clearance of an SUV. To be called the C3X, this high riding and rugged sedan will stand out amongst mid -sized sedan rivals like the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Virtus and Skoda Slavia.
Powering Citroen C3X will be a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine that generates 110 PS of max power and 190 Nm of peak torque. Both manual and automatic transmission options will be available. In comparison, most of the leading midsize sedans have larger capacity and more powerful turbo petrol engines. Strong hybrid option is also available with Honda City. Citroen could use the C3X name for its upcoming sedan, based on similar-styled C4X sold in Europe. Or, as revealed in trademark filings, C3 Fastlounge name can also be used.

Mahindra New Cars: Everything You Need to Know
Introduction:
With the Scorpio-N, Mahindra has surpassed all other SUV manufacturers in India. Yet, the influx of new Mahindra vehicles is still ongoing. A detailed list of the Mahindra lineup for 2023 and 2024 can be found here.
1. Mahindra XUV400 EV:
The first of many Mahindra New Cars scheduled for that year, the XUV400, would be made available by Mahindra in January 2023. There is more to Mahindra's upcoming electric vehicle in India than just a plug-in XUV300. Both in terms of size and power, it is more substantial. A Li-ion battery with a 39.4 kilowatt-hour capacity powers one motor.
Maximum horsepower and torque are rated at 147.5 hp and 310 Nm, respectively. The electric SUV can reach up to 150 kilometers per hour and can cover an acceleration distance of 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 8.3 seconds.
A fully charged Mahindra XUV400 has a maximum range that has been validated by ARAI of 456 kilometres. The Mahindra New Vehicles will compete in the market for electric vehicles, just like the Tata Nexon EV. It can be charged to 100% using a 50 kW DC fast charger in 50 minutes, but it will take 6 hours and 30 minutes to reach 80% using a 7.2 kW/32A outlet. Three distinct "driving modes" for the forthcoming electric Vehicle will either extend range or speed. Having fun, moving rapidly, and not being afraid of the unknown are a few of these traits. Some of the highlights include six airbags, a sunroof, a 7-inch touchscreen entertainment system, a rear-view camera, and more than 60 different networking options.
2. Mahindra eKUV100:
The Mahindra KUV100 will replace the KUV90, a B1-segment hatchback with SUV styling that was discontinued due to poor sales. Mahindra now seems poised to give the KUV100 new life by turning its slowly selling vehicle into an electric vehicle (EV).
3. Mahindra Thar 5-Door:
The Scorpio and Bolero, two of Mahindra's best-known off-road vehicles, have a reputation for dependability and toughness. The Thar, however, distinguishes out from the competition in terms of both performance and looks. The new Thar has been one of India's most well-liked vehicles since its release. Sometime around 2023, the new Thar 5-Door variant will be available. The 2.0L Turbo-petrol and 2.2L diesel engines in the current Thar 5-Door may or may not receive an improved tune, but you anticipate they will be retained.
4. Mahindra XUV Aero:
The Mahindra XUV Aero first debuted at the 2016 Auto Expo. Mahindra eventually abandoned the idea in favor of the XUV700 and the Scorpio-N. Therefore, the design was never put into production. However, the crossover SUV may be released by the end of 2023. While the XUV Aero concept looks like the Mahindra XUV 500, the production model may take design cues from the XUV700 and the Born Electric idea. The coupe-crossover body design will continue to be used.
5. Mahindra XUVe8 (XUV700 EV):
Even though the Mahindra XUV700 has already achieved remarkable success, the company is working on a new version of its best-selling flagship model. The Mahindra XUV700 EV, which is slated to be on sale in India by the end of 2019, has the potential to be the country's first fully electric sport utility vehicle. The new model will have the same high-end features as the XUV700 AX7L. Digital gauge cluster, automatic dual-zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, and a 360-degree camera just a few of the goodies that come standard on this particular model.
6. Mahindra Bolero Neo Plus:
Mahindra reintroduced the TUV300, this time as the Bolero Neo, in July 2021. Since the Mahindra New Cars release, it has been widely expected that the larger TUV300 Plus will be phased out in favor of the Bolero Neo Plus. It is now anticipated that the same will debut in the first quarter of 2023. The huge SUV may be had with as many as nine seats, making it a tough people carrier. The Bolero Neo Plus should have a refined version of the dependable 2.2L diesel engine seen in the Scorpio Classic under the hood. The powerplant will be paired with a standard 6-speed manual gearbox.

The new Mahindra Super screen – a combination of two high-definition 26 cm digital screens for the digital cluster and infotainment systems – takes pride of place in the Mahindra XUV700 cabin. The UI on these screens is highly customisable and allows for a detailed view of vehicle information.
All three variants of the XUV700 in South Africa are fitted with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which allow for a seamless connection with any smartphone. This also allows the driver to interact with his/her smartphone via the large infotainment screen and uses voice commands through Android auto and Apple car play.
Another treat across the entire XUV700 range is Mahindra’s SkyroofTM. This panoramic sunroof covers most of the passenger compartment and creates an airy and light ambience in the cabin.
Mahindra has partnered with SONY to customise the sound experience inside the XUV700. In the flagship AX7 L, the sound system is upgraded to a 12-speaker SONY system with fully immersive 3D sound. The AX7 L also treats its owner with wireless charging and fully automatic electronic door handles.
On the AX7 L, Mahindra has added a Blind View Monitor system as standard. It has also included four digital cameras, mounted in the nose, tailgate and side mirrors, for a 360-degree bird’s-eye view of the vehicle when manoeuvring or parking. This system can be set to continuously record while driving, negating the need for a traditional dashcam.
WORLD-CLASS SAFETY
Safety is one of the core pillars of the XUV700 experience, it incorporates many path-breaking safety features.
7 is a sign of perfection when it comes to the XUV700, with 7 airbags on the top variant; comprising of a driver and passenger front airbags, curtains across all three rows, side airbags and a driver knee airbag.
The AX7 versions of the XUV700 offer comprehensive Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS) as standard. These include Smart Pilot Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist and event Traffic Sign Recognition as standard.
All versions of the XUV700 also have the newest generation stability control as standard, and all models feature personalised safety alerts.
The XUV700 AX7 models also have automatic headlamps with High Beam Assist, which not only switches automatically between low and high beam but can adapt its LED headlamp array to dynamically adjust its illumination of dark areas on the road, without blinding oncoming traffic.
Safety on the AX7 range is further taken care of by the tyre pressure monitoring system, the additional reverse camera and an intelligent driver drowsiness detection system to warn a driver if his or her reactions start slowing down or if the driver’s face shows signs of drowsiness or of being distracted.
The AX7 L also has a Stop and Go driving function as part of its adaptive cruise control, allowing for stress-free driving in city traffic.
RANGE, COLOUR AND WARRANTY
Three models are available at launch, all fitted with the new 2.0-litre petrol-turbo engine and smooth six-speed automatic transmission.
Buyers can choose between Everest White, Midnight Black, Dazzling Silver, Red Rage and the global launch colour – Electric Blue.
The XUV700 is sold with a comprehensive 5-year/100,000km service plan and a 5-year/150,000km mechanical warranty. A 24/7/365 Roadside Assistance Plan is included for the same period.

Focussing On The Nissan Magnite Design
Tumblr media
The Magnite is an extremely important model for Nissan in many aspects. In fact, this sub-4 metre affordable car is a make-or-break car for the Japanese carmaker.
Design is an important aspect of a product, even a deal breaker for many. A look at the concept shows that the carmaker has left no stone unturned. It looks butch, and refreshing, and is sure to stand out if most of the concept’s design elements trickle down to the production version.
Looks Quite Familiar, Doesn’t It?
Seems a bit too familiar, right? The Magnite has a small piece of history associated with it.
Let’s Rewind
A rewind back in time reveals that Datsun, Nissan’s sub-brand, was planning to utilise the Magnite name for a sub-4-metre SUV. However, Nissan was shrinking operations and this included plans of shutting down the Datsun brand in select international markets, putting a halt on Datsun’s projects.
While Datsun is still present in India, introducing a product like the Magnite in a highly competitive and populous sub-4-metre segment wouldn’t have reaped volumes compared to Nissan, which has better brand recognition. Nissan was also looking for a new product to make a mark. So now you know why the Nissan Magnite’s front end looks similar to a Datsun.
Familiar Yet Refreshing
But the design has been well incorporated and the Magnite looks spot-on. Even the spied model looks like a carbon copy of the amazing-looking concept. In fact, the ‘L’ shape DRLs along with the bold grille and sculpted bonnet give the front end an imposing and intimidating look, which is something that customers would prefer. We particularly like those large, squared-off wheel arches and the butch body cladding. The rear end also looks interesting with a tough bumper, a sculpted boot lid and split tail lamps. A tinge of sportiness has been infused with the addition of a rear spoiler.
Will be an aggressively priced feature-loaded SUV
Nissan will also pack it with features like a 360-degree camera, connected car tech and even possibly a sunroof. It is likely to be powered by a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that’ll be offered with both manual and automatic transmission options. Yes, this is one car that will reap success, provided Nissan strengthens its after-sales network, and brand positioning, and does aggressive marketing as it’s going to sit in a spot where there’ll be cutthroat competition.
Will It Be A Success?
While the Magnite began its life as a Datsun, we feel Nissan taking over this project was a step in the right direction. And the best part is that the production-spec Magnite retains many design elements from the concept.
