#we at the simpleverse are suffering
It's been a while since I've asked anything~ Hmm. Got any info on how Error was before Simple, perhaps even before he joined Bitchmare's hellhole? I've been wondering about this for quite a while, actually. How did him and Ink go from "I fucking hate you" to friends (and eventually more ;>)? On another note - and I feel like I've asked this before so sorry if I have - did the X-Event occur, or did Nightmare just find Cross in the void and adopt him into the misery club? If it's spoilers, all g!
@tkwolf45 offered their input for this as well!
Like Geno, Error doesn’t get many breaks when it comes to being the victim of a lot of angst. Cross has his fare share of pain as well.
To put things simply (heh, simple pun), Error was lonely. He had his white void, the clothes on his back, and... not much else aside from poor social skills, a terrible temper, and an intense loneliness. Ultimately, it was that loneliness that drove him to destruction. Upon viewing world after world full of those who had what he desired, Error’s longing for companionship twisted into envy, then hatred.
Cue him earning himself a nifty title. “The Destroyer.”
Of course, such an infamous title draws attention. Unsurprisingly, Ink eventually found Error. Even less surprising: They fought. Again. And again. And again. Somehow, this led to Ink developing what he would later realize was a crush, though that would take time to realize given the fact that Ink is... well, an idiot. And more than just a little inexperienced in the matters of love (or so he thought~).
Enter Nightmare.
As I said, being called the Destroyer draws attention. Hearing rumors of Error, Nightmare eventually sought him out. Only, things went... differently than they did with Ink.
Nightmare was... charming. Seductive.
Convincing.
There was still a part of Error enveloped by loneliness and a yearning for somewhere to belong. When Nightmare offered him a group of allies and a spot in his castle, it was... tempting.
The way Nightmare looked at him was... odd, but nice as well.
So, Error accepted.
He’ll always regret doing so.
Of course, the fights against Ink still took place. Sometimes due to missions as a nightmare, often due to Error’s bad luck. The more Ink found himself charmed by Error, the more he flirted. At first, it pissed him off.
As Nightmare’s behavior began to change however...
Well, long story short, Error fell for the person who treated him well, even if he was maybe a little terrified of the emotions he began to develop for Ink. In addition to that terror, he was also kind of pissed, because “WHY THE FUCK DOES IT HAVE TO BE HIM?!”
The heart wants what the heart wants though, and Error’s began to want Ink. He wasn’t a nightmare, he wasn’t Nightmare, and... he could be funny. Nice, if he thought something was wrong with Error. Sure, none of it was probably real given the state of Ink’s soul (aka the lack of one), but...
The artist had what Error wanted. Needed. And one thing led to another...
And PJ eventually came into existence~
For now, that wraps up the Error saga.
As for Cross...
The X-event doesn’t exist in the Simpleverse! Unfortunately for Cross, his world faced destruction due to an ‘unknown’ cause, though Cross has spent many, many nights wondering what happened, and if he could have stopped it.
Thanks to some good luck, which Cross often referred to as bad luck instead, he miraculously survived this destruction, yet... well, this wasn’t exactly a good thing.
Stranded in a crumbling world, alone. Terrified. Drowning in despair and sorrow... for Stars knows how long, Cross suffered.
And guess who came along? Yep, that’s right.
Nightmare.
Like Error, Cross had desires almost too painful to acknowledge. He lost his home, his friends, his family... and he wanted them back. He wanted anyone there to take away all this hurt, all this loneliness.
So, when Nightmare smiled and offered him a friends? Family? A home? When Nightmare promised him everything he wanted?
Cross, hurt and still young enough to be naive, accepted.
To this day, he still doesn’t know that it was that savior who caused the destruction of the world. And all because Nightmare wanted him a trained guard.
Heh, aren’t we so nice to these boys?:)
