"That man, the one I should call 'father'... He had no use for me before. I can be useful now. He always said my fear makes me weak, but now he says I can make it into a weapon. He can show me how to be strong."

Oh boy where to start with this? Anyone remember that "Crying Child Grows Up To Be  A Therapist" AU? That was the Good Ending. This is the much more likely Bad Ending.
In this timeline, Crying Child survives the bite of '83, but instead of his family seeing how badly he's being effected by mistreatment, William watches without interfering to see what will happen. C.C locks himself way and grows steadily more paranoid, and though his family is getting worried, no one actually does anything about it. The only time he leaves his room is when William picks him up and carries him out by force. One night, Michael makes one wrong move and ends up cut across the chest with a fork. This is the part when Purple Guy's interest is piqued.
So the child who would never leave his room is suddenly sneaking out a night. Various spooki things are happening around the house like weird, dark stains on his clothes and knives being put in the wash when no one had used them. One particularly spooky night (obviously when it's dark and stormy out) William confronts his son in the kitchen after coming home from one of these mysterious escapades and warns him that he knows what's been going on.
The kid has been sneaking off to go kill various stray animals on some twisted attempt to make himself feel better about his own situation. He was attacked by monsters so he wants to become a monster himself. He wants to feel like he has power over something so he can stop being so scared. William sees this as the perfect opportunity to make his son into a partner in crime, and slowly trains him up into helping him with the Missing Children Incident. The story then follows similarly to The Silver Eyes. William survives the spring-lock incident (in part because C.C was able to get help) and the two run away together. Since the fandom has decided Crying Child is either named Chris or Evan, in this AU his real name is Evan but he goes by Chris Miller (William goes by Dave Miller in TSE) while on the run.
C.C knows he's being used, but at the same time he's too scared to do anything about it. Not to mention he'd been painfully mistreated for so long that he's not sure he can give up what looks and feels almost like love.

A few facts that are disputed in cannon and how they stand in this AU
-Crying Child is the apex example of a forgotten middle child
-The Bite of '83 happened on his 13th birthday
-In 1983 Michael was 17, C.C was 13 and Elizabeth was 5 (William was in his mid-40's but that doesn't matter as much as the kid's ages)
-Charlie is Elizabeth's age (I don't know why or how there was an 8 year gap between CC and Elizabeth but in Silver Eyes Charlie was 7 in '85)
-William was never abusive, but did turn manipulative. His biggest offence (before he started training C.C) was just being extremely distant and leaving the trio in his wife's care without really interfering. He never did anything about Michael's bulling behavior, but whether he encouraged it or not is unclear.
