11,500 words into this project. still four chapters to go. gnawing on the bars of my cage. the next four will be FUN but i want to be FINISHED......
#also fighting with perfectionism here#there are parts of it i could expand further and/or cut down. for the sake of consistency#but part of me is also like... i just want the thing to exist......#ESPECIALLY re: cutting things down that one is a BRUTAL war#bc part of me is like 'if it's so much longer it MUST be boring and irrelevant and jarring get it OUT!!!'#but another part of me is like. i want to maximise the amount of Story Being Told don't i??? and i worked rlly hard on that thing#surely i have to work at least as hard again to condense it without losing some rlly valuable stuff.....#and then there's the other battle#'this is just a little fanfiction i'm writing for fun it doesn't have to be perfect'#vs 'this is a genuinely cool and unique idea and if you don't give it 100% you're WASTING POTENTIAL'#with a side of 'length + novelty mean this could be ur most-read fic (if they beat nicheness) so you have to make a good impression'#sigh.
