What was your first experience with internet fandom and subculture?
Oof so this is a bit of a hard question but the short answer would be that this account is my first real experience with internet fandom. Don't get me wrong, there's been plenty of other shows/games/books I've loved but for a long time I just didn't participate in any kind of fandom activity or group or anything. For some reason, I actively avoided consuming fanart and fanfiction.
I guess I was always scared of liking things or worse showing the things I liked, and I didn't understand there's a place where liking things is ok. It took a lot of courage to finally open an account? It's stupid, I guess. But I think I've fallen in love with fandom, there's something so beautiful about seeing others love your favourite things and creating for them and sharing them with everyone. I can't quite put it into words, something about creativity as a love language and seeing the same happiness you find in a piece of media in other people.
But if you care to know the first time I 'gave in' and read fanfiction was because of the Pokemon games (I'll gift my mortal soul if anyone guesses my favourite characters/ship), then JJBA and then I returned to an old favourite with Star Trek TNG.
Actually, I think I've said this before somewhere but this account was going to be a Diego Brando stan account lmao. I can't even remember how I decided to just reblog qcard content? I mean I don't even remember how I came across the ship in the first place. Like yeah I started rewatching the series but then I don't know what happened?
Anyway, I went off topic, sorry I don't have any old accounts or stories about previous experience in fandom.
