He was born and raised in California so he's never seen snow in real life and he desperately wants to. Straight up dreams of it

YES THANK YOU i'm getting so tired of the bronies i know making jokes about how those episodes were about communism. I know its an easy joke to make but its not true! However, it being about eugenics, I was hoping that Starlight wouldnt be one of the ones that got reformed considering, yknow, the real-life comparison. I'm also kinda glad that they did that though, showing that someone Like That can get better.

oddly enough i don't think op was joking that the episodes were about communism? they responded to tell me i was extremely wrong, because lauren faust definitely intended to criticise the "communist surveillance state" when she wrote the cutie map

lauren faust had not actually been involved in the show in any capacity since season two? so her writing the season five premiere, which is credited to scott sonneborn and m.a. larson, must have been quite an impressive feat

anyway yeah you're right, it's bizarre that the actual eugenicist was one of the mlp villains to get reformed. it was such a weird decision to make this character who's essentially the same as sunset shimmer and who is therefore obviously going to get the same redemption arc that worked so well in equestria girls, and then, make her do one of the most unforgivably evil things that have ever been done by a human being

they made it work somehow, which i guess is testament to how damn good this show is? it probably helped a lot that you can actually undo magical horse eugenics tbh
