looking through your blog has made me realise i want to write poetry again and read more! but my motivation wavers and idk if i will be good do you have any tips on how to perhaps keep on writing or where you find inspiration? also love your blog its so calming
hi angel! hope you're doing well. hm i don't think i can give you much advice but i will try the best i can :3 for writing, i think for me it was not really the lack of motivation, but rather the fear of starting and every poem turning out to be horrible. i still struggle with it almost every time i pick up the pen to write a poem / open a word doc to type a poem. it's hard to write when you can't even tell yourself that you're good. mostly im just fearful about it, but somedays and some weeks i do get over it and write. anything, that's the thing which matters the most, you have to pick up your pen / open ur word doc and keep writing, words and prompts usually help me a lot in figuring out where i want to go with the poem, i try to read the inner atmosphere of myself compared to everything around me. it really is scary not knowing if you will be good, but i rlly think it's important to remember that being good isn't just it, there are so many good poems i have read and they do not invoke a single emotion in me, and sometimes i read 3 lines of a simple structured poem and it moves me to another dimension. so i try to remember that, it's not about being good, it's about expressing yourself in the most beautiful way you possibly can, it's about the expression of the inner or the outer or the somewhere in between. use lots of imagery, look at paintings and describe them down to the tiniest details, look at colors shapes and forms, at the light and the dark, try describing a feeling in colors, or colors in emotions, try describing a friend, or a rush of emotion, use metaphors lots of them!!! don't be afraid to use words in the most absurd sense, that's what's poetry all about!! i usually find inspiration from my own blog, the poetry i reblog, pictures (especially those of nature) and paintings, also read a lot of poetry, not only poetry but novels, fiction and non fiction, they help create a landscape of different things in your head and yeah that's it, reading is a bit hard to get into, so i try reading at least 50 pages per day so i can get through something. and i think it's mostly about one book clicking with you so instantly and deeply that your love for reading just reignites hope you find all the inspiration for your poems, do tell me how your journey goes, take care and also thank you :33
