Heavy metal. I’ve spent the last 8 days and nights working nonstop on this 30 x 44 inch drawing for the @laartshow where I’ll have this new death rider hanging with @coprogallery. It’s always such an honor to have a piece in this massive show. Gary and Erica have been such a gift to the dark art community and I can’t thank them enough for giving artists like me a platform to show to a wider audience. Dark art has slowly creeped into the hearts, eyes and minds of the public and has shown that it will withstand time and continue to grow as a legitimate genre. It’s not a phase for those of us that have been doing this for decades and helped bring it into the light for all to see and appreciate. I’m adding the final embellishments to this piece and then it’s time to dance then rest before starting on the next piece for the H R Giger tribute show. A small element of a much larger piece. I started the year off initiating the execution of this large concept that’s been collecting dust in my mind’s eye for some time now. Hope you didn’t think I abandoned you. I haven’t. It was a long hibernation but I’m finally emerging from my cave and I’m feeling hungry. I have some big plans for us in the next few months including the opening of my new store on January 27th, the release of a new perfume in February and several new pieces for several upcoming shows. Hello there. This Friday May 20th at 12pm PST, I’ll finally be releasing the last edition of the pentagram crypt coin in a patina silver. I don’t know what got into me but I’ve hand cut several linoleum blocks to print on each of the 1000 organic black muslin bags that each coin will come with. It’s a lot of work but they’re all one of a kind and look pretty neat if I might say so myself. Shipping will begin on Monday the 23rd and will continue until the last coin is sold. You can purchase up to 5 coins in one order. As with the gold design, these coin designs will never be recreated again so if you’d like to have one, here is your chance. I’ve set a reminder in my stories and also have it in my bio. I’ll have any remaining coins available online and @monsterpalooza until they’re gone. I know you haven’t seen me in my old fashioned habitat for a while so I thought I’d give you a peak at my home studio where I work on days when I get home too late from the hospital to make it to the studio. Behind me is my wall of antique prosthetic arms that I’ve collected over the last 15 years as well as some antique anatomy and surgical books. Along the other walls are multiple antique prosthetic legs, braces, my mother’s urn, a fish in an antique aquarium my husband made to keep me company and antique musical instruments. On may 20th at 12pm PST, I’ll be releasing the new limited edition silver toned crypt coin you see here. This is exactly the same design as the first gold edition in terms of design. If you missed out the last time, here’s your chance to get your hands on one. Each coin will come in an organic black muslin bag that I’ll be printing an original image on. The coins are 1.5 inches in diameter with reeded edges and an aged patina. It’s a very nicely weighted piece. I carry mine with me everywhere and have become accustomed to it being near. One side of the coin has my pentagram hands indicating YES and the flip side has my Fortuna hand indicating NO. A unique piece that can be used to simplify decision making, as a totem or as a comfort object to hold in your hand to soothe your nerves. I’ve always loved a good come back story so happy resurrection day or rabbit day, however you decide to spend it. This drawing was created for my friend @garrettmarkenson who is a fellow perfume enthusiast and invited member of Eau De Morte, a select perfume club @killscout and I created. If you know me, you’d quickly learn that I’ve had a olfactory obsession since I was a young girl. Every stage of my life has been marked by a particular scent and in my older years, my days are curated by a library of new perfumes that I select to match my mood, desires, time of day and clothing to name a few. Several years ago, I created three of my own perfume oils based on graphite drawings and aspire to become a perfumist in the future. It’s an art to create a signature scent and I receive endless pleasure indulging myself in this world. I could spend days reading perfume reviews and envisioning the descriptions in my mind’s nose. This piece was created with a set of pencils I bought twice, one to keep unopened and one to use. It is a scented pencil set inspired by four exotic woods, Western Hemlock, White Oak, Silver Teak, White Ash and reconstituted with Swiss perfume house Maison Mizensir. The self taught perfumist of this house is Alberto Morillas who created one of my favorite scents, Must de Cartier but also created other well known perfumes such as CK One, marking the innovation of the unisex perfume that became the scent of the 90s Gen X population. He also created Flower by Kenzo, Acqua Di Giò by Giorgio Armani, and Belle d'Opium by Yves Saint Laurent. The pencils were scented by this master perfumist with patchouli, incense and tonka bean. The scent isn’t subtle, it filled the room when I drew and it was such a lovely experience. It was capped off with my deeply perfumed eraser created by French perfume house Astier de Villatte. It smells of citrus, herbs and patchouli. This opened up and inspired so many new ideas for me. I hope you enjoy this piece and insight into the world of my perfume and pencil fetish. 𓂀Fresh off the press aka my hands. A new pair of hand painted Egyptian themed gloves I finished last night for my show this Sunday October 17th in San Francisco @fiveanddiamond with @majestyblack. I’ll be exhibiting my artwork and several other pairs of hand painted gloves and will be there for both the opening and closing on Dia de Los Muertos. These are not the easiest to photograph. I think you get the idea. I’ll be sharing more details of the collection at the end of the week. Can’t wait to show you the next pair. I have quite a few projects in queue at all times. Figuring out which is next usually depends on which will flow best with my current mindset and what piece seems to be calling me. Several years ago, @hecticmajestic and I planned on doing a collaboration of hand painted gloves. As you know, his company @majestyblack makes the finest and coolest gloves. When I first learned he would be making gloves, my heart started racing and I fell in love the fist time I saw a pair. I’ve been a big time supporter ever since as you can tell from my feed. I couldn’t imagine a more fitting collaboration. Our work goes hand in hand 😉 I was so excited to start on the project but when I received the first flawless pair, I was afraid to put paint on them for fear of destroying them. Fast forward to now. I finally worked up the nerve to paint my own extra long stiletto opera length gloves with two eyes as an entry into painting multiple pairs for my upcoming show in San Francisco @fiveanddiamond that will feature my latest original drawings as well. The show will open on October 17th for Phoenix Day and will close on Nov 2nd for Dia de Los Muertos. If you’re in the area, mark your calendar. Today, at 12pm PST, I’ll have these two new original small works you see here as well as three new cotton woven blankets. There are very limited numbers of blankets and only 2 of the Seven Silver Spiders available for those who are gearing up for the cold months ahead 🥶. The graphite drawing is approximately 16 x 20 inches on Moleskine and the second piece is an original oil over gesso on and antique silver mirror dating back to the late 1800s. Roses and leaves are painted in oil enamel. Hoping to make more of these mirrors soon before Christmas.
