A Day With Tupac In Harlem, New York, 1994. The Story Of Photographer T. Eric Monroe
A Day With Tupac In Harlem, New York, 1994. The Story Of Photographer T. Eric Monroe

Tupac In Harlem, New York, 1994. Photographer T. Eric Monroe T.Eric Monroe is a master of being at the right place at the right time, and even more importantly, was prepared to do whatever it took to make the most of those opportunities. As a photographer, he captured some of the most iconic hip-hop moments of the 1990s, only to later realize the magnitude of that place in time. T. Eric has been digitizing his catalog recently and just published a new book, Rare & Unseen Moments of 90s HipHop, showcasing images from publications like Thrasher Magazine, The Source, XXL, and a host of other publications.

Tupac In Harlem, New York, 1994. Photographer T. Eric Monroe On his personal blog, T. Eric Monroe speaks on the first part of his book āRARE & UNSEEN MOMENTS OF 90'S HIPHOPā and tells his story on spending a day in New York with Tupac Shakur in 1994, starting with some background of the day.

Eric T. Monroe book āI received a call from Tupac's publicist (Interscope Records), asking if I wanted to photograph Tupac in Harlem" Eric Monroe reveals. "He was having a press day and being filmed for music video channel, The Box. The format of the segment, Box Talk, was that camera crews would follow the artist around their childhood neighborhood. They would then shoot a particular segment in front of a location meaningful to the artist.ā Monroe shares.

Tupac In Harlem, New York, 1994. Photographer T. Eric Monroe He also reveals, that meaningful location for Tupac was his elementary school in Harlem.

Tupac & Biggie In Harlem, New York, 1994. Photographer T. Eric Monroe Later on, Eric developing the Tupac story to the āPhotographer Momentā. āWhen I arrived at the location (155th Street & St. Nicholas Avenue), not far from Yankee Stadium, it was chaos. Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z. had just dropped the prior year and 'Pac was already a household name. Everyone wanted a piece of him as he had recently released the album Thug Life: Volume 1. Magazine and newspaper photographers, The Box camera crew, and local news teams were yelling at Tupac to look at their cameras.ā

Tupac In Harlem, New York, 1994. Photographer T. Eric Monroe āI watched it for a while, then slowly got out my camera and moved toward some of the action. I was relatively close to Tupac and I kept to certain angles so I would not be intrusive in āPacās space. The connection became more endearing. At times, both of us looked at each other and quietly laughed at the media circus around us.ā

Tupac In Harlem, New York, 1994. Photographer T. Eric Monroe

Tupac In Harlem, New York, 1994. Photographer T. Eric Monroe Ā āI was able to capture a personal vibe among Tupac and his friends ā guys from the groups Thug Life and the Outlawz," Eric Monroe says. "After the main taping was done, the news cameras started to leave. The bulk of the news press got the shots they needed to portray Tupac as the āDangerous Thug,ā which they would print in the next dayās papers. It felt like Tupac knew how to play with the media to keep his name in the press. He knew how to press their buttons, challenge them mentally; their only recourse was to portray him as a troublemaker. The pattern was reactive and visible.ā

Tupac In Harlem, New York, 1994. Photographer T. Eric Monroe āAs more people left, Tupac and his friends stayed to themselves, lingering by one of the walls within the city park where filming had just concluded. They created a space and moment to relax together. Within that time, Tupac would peer beyond the edge of his red bandana, which dangled in front of his eyelash as he prepared a blunt. As he finished, he kindly glanced at me. I got the shots I needed. I heard the lighter spark as I stepped away, giving them their personal space.ā

Tupac In Harlem, New York, 1994. Photographer T. Eric Monroe Another interesting story from T. Eric and his work-related with Tupacās name takes us back in 1995 when he was working at The Source. In an interview with juxtapoz.com, Monroe shares details of how the media was handling the story of Tupac and Faith Evans,Ā which is developing even now.

2Pac and Faith Evans in Hollywood Athletic Club, October 13, 1995 Ā āAs time at the Source moved forward and the editor became more intolerable, things finally came to a head for me after a final draft of the Tupac article that was to run in ā96 Tupac cover issue. In the article I remember reading something about Tupac slept with Faith, Biggieās wife. I said to the editor, youāre not going to run this, are you? He said, āYeah, B, people gotta hear this!ā I responded, āYou canāt put out energy like this, it will cause too many issues.ā He said,āNah, people gotta know.ā At that point, I knew I was done working there on staff. A few months later, Tupac was killed. Not by Biggieās people, but the negative energy allowed to build (in my mind).ā https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMQgNJdDsHU More about the book here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zU3RjbcTsQA

Why Kim Kardashian Lie for Tupacās āAll About Uā Music Video?
With Keeping Up with the Kardashians being on TV for so long, we all feel as if there is nothing about the life of the famous family we do not know. However, Kim Kardashian, born 1980Ā recently proved us all wrong, sharing with the world that she had been in one of Tupac Shakurās videos when she was a teenager.

2Pac - ''All About U'' Video The surprising revelation happened during a podcast of her friend Jonathan Cheban, and the world still cannot stop talking about it. Kim Kardashian, born 1980: āWhen I was 14, I was in a Tupac video. It was like 1994,ā Kim said, āSo first of all, we lied and said we were like 18 probably. I definitely looked 18. I didnāt even drive. Kim Stewart was in some, I donāt even know what, I think it was for a soundtrack. I have to call Kourtney and find out.ā On May 12, 1996, Tupac Filming The āAll About Youā Video

Kim Kardashian, teenage years / Twitter

Kim Kardashian, as a teenager The TV star then explained that she did not meet Tupac when the video was shot. Immediately after Kim had shared her secret, everyone started looking for the video in question. In the podcast, the KUWTK star gave a couple of more details: Ā āWe were walking down the runway like we were models walking down a runway. It wasnāt like we were in bikinis by the pool or anything like that. We were literally walking down a runway, and it was Kim Stewart, Kourtney, me and maybe like one or two other of our friends.ā Initially, everyone thought that the video Kim talks about is the āAll About Uā music video, since it is the only Tupac video with models on the runway. Moreover, the woman in the blue dress that can be seen in 3:16, 3:31, 3:34 and 4:28 of the rapperās video looks pretty much like Kim. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ST5AwpbnCGk

''All About U'' Video, 3:16 min. Ā

''All About U'' Video, 3:31 min. Still, there are many things that Kim Kardashian said during the podcast that indicate this is a wrong theory. For starters, she said she didnāt meet Tupac, but in āAll About Uā music video the rapper is obviously on the runway as well.
Tupac is here! :) 4:28 min Secondly, Kim shared that she was 14 years old when this happened, which means that it was in 1994 or 1995, but the āAll About Uā video was shot one year later.Ā On May 12, 1996, Tupac Filming The āAll About Youā Video

Did 2Pac Believe in God? Tupac Quotes About God
Did 2Pac believe in God? The truth is that this question has been discussed a lot during the years but it is difficult to give one definitive answer. It is a well-known fact that the late rapper had a huge cross tattoo on his back, but researchers believe that 2Pac's attitude toward religion is a complicated issue. Perhaps everyone can decide for themselves, and to help you with that, we have prepared some of the most famous 2Pac quotes about God.

Tupac's Poem - God Probably, it would be best to say that 2Pac believed God to be a spiritual power or symbol of faith, but he did not believe in the Church as an institution. 2Pac's strong sense of social justice provoked him to strongly criticize church authority. In one of his interviews, he shares that he does not understand the Churchās need to accumulate unaccountable riches and place its temples in huge buildings with expensive coloured windows while the streets are full of homeless and hungry people. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MnmLl6Fm1MM Despite the disgust that 2Pac feels when it comes to the Church as an institution, the rapper mentions the Lord in many of his lyrics. Taking this into account, we cannot deny that, although in a purely spiritual aspect, God was constantly present in the rapperās thoughts. 30 Tupac Shakur Quotes About Death āAnd God has blessed me with the power to be hard to kill.ā āIām not really a religious person. But I believe that God wants me to do something and it has to do with Thug Life.ā āI believe God blesses us. I believe God blesses those that hustle, those that use their mind and those that overall are righteous. I believe that your karma, everything that you do bad, comes back to you. So anything that I'm doing that's bad, I'm gonna have to suffer for, but I feel in my heart, what I'm doing is right, you know what I mean, so I feel like I'm going to heaven.ā āI set goals, take control, drink out my own bottle. I make mistakes but learn from every one. And when itās said and done, I bet this brother be a better one. If I upset you donāt stress; never forget, that God isnāt finished with me yet.ā āIf God wanted me to be quiet he wouldāve never showed me what he does.ā āIf they take half the buildings that they use to praise God and give it to the motherfuckers who need God weād be āaight.ā āIf you believe in God, believe in Death Row East.ā āIt makes sense that if you're good in your heart you're closer to God.ā āGod come save the youth, Aināt nothin else to do but have faith in you, Dear Lord I live the life of a Thug, hope you understand Forgive me for my mistakes, I gotta play my hand.ā āGod has cursed me to see what life should be like.ā āGod let me live for me to do something extremely extraordinary.ā āLord knows.ā "My idea of religion is this, I think that you take one of the "o"'s outta "Good" it's "God. If you had a "D" to "Evil" it's the "Devil". I think that some cool motherf****rs said long time ago let's figure out a way to control motherf****rs and thats what they came up with, its the bible and so on." āNow them same motherfuckers wanna murder me. And I wonder if the Lord ever heard of me, huh.ā āWe gonna prove once and for all, that all these people talking about a East Coast West Coast war, they like what Judas was to Jesus.ā āWill I survive 'til the morning to see the sun? Please Lord, forgive me for my sins, 'cause here I come.ā āWhen I was alone, and had nothing. I asked for a friend to help me bear the pain. No one came, except God. When I needed a breath to rise, from my sleep. No one could help me.. except God. When all I saw was sadness, and I needed answers. No one heard me, except God. So when I'm asked.. who I give my unconditional love to? I look for no other name, except God.ā āWe wouldn't ask why a rose that grew from the concrete for having damaged petals, in turn, we would all celebrate its tenacity, we would all love its will to reach the sun, well, we are the roses, this is the concrete and these are my damaged petals, dont ask me why, thank god, and ask me howā āWord to God, I've beendas ready to die since I was born.ā 50 Of The Most Famous & Inspirational Quotes of Tupac Shakur Read the full article

Faith Evans Lies About Tupac Again! Here's The Truth!
Faith Evans Lies About Tupac Again! Here's The Truth! In recent series of YouTube uploads the platinum songwriter Delray Richardson explains how Faith Evans omitted the fact that she hung out and partied with Tupac Shakur at the "Waiting To Exhale" soundtrack release party on November 14th, 1995. 26 days after she had sex with Tupac. Evans would later claim after Tupac's death that he violated her in his hotel suite on October 19th, 1995 by saying that she had to perform a sexual favor to receive her payment after recording the song "You Wonder Why They Call You B****". These new facts ultimately prove it was all a publicity stunt and lie to sell Evans book and documentary "Hopelessly In Love" using Tupac's name. This time photos, dates, and an interview with Tupac Shakur by Chuck Philips perhaps proves that Faith Evans lied about Tupac. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90-WA2oCxG8&feature=youtu.be&fbclid=IwAR158L6tw3xmfxUcR5CufI1pDAGuQBZTGTa-JmHTJJDfFi9HCa_r0saYUHA According to Faith Evans, she stated on Lifetimeās āHopelessly In Loveā, that Tupac wouldnāt give her $25,000 that was owed to her for recording a song with him. Faith stated that Tupac asked her to perform oral sex at a hotel in exchange for the $25,000. According to Richardson, Evans lied, pointing that the Tupac recording session she participating in took place after the āWaiting To Exhaleā movie release party. As shown by Delray, Chuck Philips interview Tupac while he was in the studio with Faith Evans. The two artists were recording for the song āWonda Why They Call U B____ā. As heard clearly by Chuck Philips that interview took place on October 19, 1995. The āWaiting To Exhaleā movie release party took place after the recording session on November 14, 1995, not before as Faith Evans claims. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWRsFZTUOzk Richardson points a photo showing Pac and Faith. Tupacās arm around her and she doesnāt look bothered at all. The photo is taken nearly a month after the day Evans claims Tupac asked her to do oral sex.

How Many Albums Had Tupac Managed to Record Before Dying?
How Many Albums Had Tupac Managed to Record Before Dying? Before he died in September 1996, because of a fatal shooting on the streets of Las Vegas, 2Pac had managed to release four studio albums - 2Pacalypse Now (1991), Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z⦠(1993), Me Against Тhe World (1995), and All Eyez On Me (1996). However, it should be noted here that at the time of his death, 2Pac had already completed his work on the album The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory, which was released less than two months after the death of the rapper. This is the first and only time that 2Pac uses his new alias Makaveli.
Thug Life

While still alive, Shakur also released the collaborative album Thug Life: Volume 1, which hit the market in 1994. The Thug Life group is formed by 2Pac, Big Syke, Mopreme, Macadoshis, and The Rated R.
2Pacalypse Now

2Pacalypse Now is the beginning of Tupac Shakur's brief but exciting journey in rap music. The first piece of the albums Tupac recorded before dying. The rapper's debut album was released on November 12, 1991, and managed to shake the situation in the hip-hop industry. Despite his fragile age at the time, 2Pac addressed important social topics such as racism, police brutality, poverty, black crimes against blacks and pregnancy during the teenage years. 2Pacalypse Now is noticed even by the US Vice President Dan Quayle, who stated that "there is no reason for such an album to be released" and that "it has no place in American society." Quayle was provoked to say this after a man by the name of Ronald Ray Howard had killed a police officer in Texas and his lawyer had said that he was inspired by 2Pac's album.
Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Zā¦

2Pac strengthened his influence on the stage in February 1993 when its second studio album Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z⦠was released. The acronym N.I.G.G.A. in the albumās title means "Never Ignorant in Getting Goals Accomplished," and guest artists include names like Ice-T, Ice Cube, Apache, Treach, Digital Underground, and more. Critics from high political positions on 2Pacalypse Now do not discourage 2Pac, but on the contrary ā he continues to follow the same line of social activism in his next album Strictly 4 My NIGGAZ⦠Thanks to successful singles such as āKeep Ya Head Upā and āI Get Aroundā, Shakur had been able to reach a far wider audience than he had with his first record.
Me Against Тhe World

Me Against the World Cover Front While in prison for sexual assault, 2Pac managed to track the success of his third album, Me Against the World, released in March 1995. The record was set to be Shakur's most personal to that moment, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and holding the leadership position for four consecutive weeks. With Me Against the World, 2Pac became the first music artist in history to celebrate the No. 1 album, while being in prison.
All Eyez On Me
Yet, from a commercial point of view, 2Pac's most successful album is the next one, All Eyez on Me, released in February 1996. It was the first album the rapper released since joining the Death Row Records label. Singles like āCalifornia Loveā and āHow Do You Want Itā reached # 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. All Eyez on Me is the first double album in Shakur's discography and was sold over 560,000 times in the first week. Ā Read the full article

I donāt know it aināt that weird to me. MTV: Alright, give me a characterization of your childhood. Tupac: was the total opposite of what I am now. I was quiet, withdrawn, I read a lot, I wrote poetry. MTV: At what point in your early life were your exposed to this quote unquote thug life mentality? Tupac: When I was out there by myself with no where to stay and no money MTV: Which city? Bits of it was in Baltimore. Pieces of it was in Marin City and then the rest came in Oakland. MTV: And what was your first introduction? Tupac: Drug dealers, pimps, prostitutes. Thatās really it. Criminals. They just the only people that cared about me at that point when I had nowhere to go and I was hungry. MTV: But you said your mother always cared about you. Tupac: She did but she was lost at that particular moment. She wasnāt caring about herself at that particular moment. MTV: What was that like? Tupac: I love my mom. She the bomb to me so. MTV: I know she is now but what about then? Tupac: It was hard. It was hard because, you know, she was my hero. MTV: And what did you do when you stopped going to school? Tupac: I only had two jobs ever in my life. One was at Roundtable Pizza, I used to make the pizza but it was good, it was the perfect job, Tabitha, ācause I was hungry and I got to like eat all the toppings of peoples pizza. Thatās where I ate ācause everything is right there. If you imagine I was making pizzas on the side, bringing pizzas home, Iām calling in my own deliveries. MTV: Hello? Tupac: Iām saying weāre on Venice Beach thatās what youāre supposed to do. Iāve been in jail for 11 months, Tabitha. You got let me get a look once or something . MTV: Do you think itās important to tell your fans that itās not cool for you to end up in jail? Tupac: I donāt have any problem telling people itās not cool to go to jail ācause Iāve been there and itās not cool. MTV: So just tell me how you have been feeling with all the stuff thatās been going on in the last couple of weeks. Tupac: Good. Relieved. Happy to be home. Itās a trip when you know that last week you were in jail and I was in this little cell and it was real dirty and not have any hot water and dudes were telling me when to shower and when to eat and all of that and then next week Iām up āMannyāsā with champagne, filet mignon and lobster and shrimp. MTV: Did you feel like your life was ever threatened in jail? Tupac: By the guards not by the inmates. āCause they did just everything they could do to try to break me because I used to talk a lot of shit, you know, coming out of jail. MTV: No, not you. Tupac: I know, I know itās hard to believe, Tabitha, but you just got to picture it. But, uh, you know, they would say things ācause they would call you, uh, jail was the first place where I can go and they just went as soon I got there they went, āThere he goes.ā He goes, āWho?.ā āThere is the rich ****.ā I was like, āOh shit, he said ****, he said ****!ā and everybody was looking and me like, āSo?.ā I was like, āOh my God, this is where Iām gonna be staying. He said ****.ā MTV: Well you got s in one of your records. Tupac: Nigga. Theyāre talking about s. s was the ones on the rope hanging out on the field. Niggas is the ones with gold ropes hanging out at clubs. MTV: Well maybe not everyone is not aware of the differention. Tupac: They donāt have to be. Everyone if your not a nigga and you donāt use that word you donāt have to understand it. Itās not one of those things. MTV: How did you meet the girl in the alleged rape? Tupac: I met her in the club. Some guys introduced me to her. MTV: And she was very forward with you? Tupac: Extremely MTV: And what happened? Tupac: She did some things and⦠MTV: Sexual things? Tupac: Yeah, she did some things there at the club and we got together later that night. I saw her again another time with the guys that introduced me to her, um, everybody was having a good time. Not we didnāt do anything sexual, just having a good time. Me and her went in there, she gave me a massage, came out, went to sleep, woke up. Sheās screaming, āRape, rape.ā I raped her and the next thing I know Iām going to jail. MTV: So in your opinion there was no truth to the sexual abuse charges? Tupac: Not on my part at all. MTV: If you could go back to the night when the sexual abuse occurred is there anything you would do differently? Tupac: Yeah MTV: What? Tupac: I would not have closed my eyes till she was out of the room, until everybody was out of the room. MTV: Iāve grown up with tons of wild stories from lots of legendary rock bands and things they would do with their groupies. Do you feel like there is a double standard for black artists and white artists and how they entertain their groupies? Tupac: Yes it is a double standard because America is scared of a black mans sexuality. and they only see us as groups who could only go, āUgh, ugh,ā and they just canāt imagine us being another way and thatās why it was so easy for people to believe I could do this. MTV: It seemed like there was a time though that you were definitely reveling in the image of being wild and crazy. What got you off that path? Tupac: Five hot bullets. MTV: Tell me what happened at the recording studios in Time Square. Tupac: I got shot five times. I walked in, some dudes walked in and shot me up, um, took some jewelry. MTV: Do you know who shot you? MTV: No? Is that a no or is that a maybe? Tupac: No, I donāt know who shot me. MTV: So does that mean that you also have no idea why they shot you? Tupac: No, I have no idea why they shot me. MTV: Do you think they shot you just to get your jewelry? Tupac: I donāt know. Itās like anybodyās guess. I donāt know. I donāt really like to talk about it. MTV: At any point did you think you were going to die after being shot five times. Tupac: No. No, I didnāt. Immediately I was like, āOh Man.ā I know how itās gonna be when I die itās gonna be no noise you know you wonāt hear people screaming. Iāma fade out. MTV: You were on trial for sex abuse charges at the time of the shooting. Tupac: I was on trial for rape and sodomy and gun possession and forcible kidnapping about 18 charges thatās why I wanted to die at that point. āCause I was like you know I mean Iām tired but I lived and I was like well I canāt check out. MTV: So you felt suicidal? Tupac: Oh, definitely. It wasnāt like I was one day waking up and wanted to commit suicide just all around I felt suicidal but I couldnāt kill myself I just wanted somebody to kill me for me, you know what I mean? MTV: Yet you were still happy you survived the five gunshot wounds. Tupac: Only reason I was happy was I didnāt want them to take me out. You know I want honor man. These suckers that wanna rob you, taking you out, you know what I mean? Thatās cowardly. MTV: Do you feel rehabilitated? Thatās what they try to do in jail. Tupac: Nah jail is not a rehabilitation thing. I feel like Iāve grown and matured I donāt think jail had anything to do with it. MTV: Tell me what youāve been recording in the studio since you got out of jail Tupac: Euphanasia is the name of the album. Itās a double album Iāma release it for Christmas. Itās gonna have Snoop on it, me and him did a song called āAmerikaāz Most Wanted.ā MTV: Do you feel like rappers should be more responsible for their lyrics? Tupac: Um, yes. MTV: What would you define as irresponsible? Tupac: You talk about murder and death and you donāt talk about the pain or you talk about killing and robbing and stealing and you donāt talk about jail and death and betrayal and all things that go with it. MTV: A lot of people would characterize your music as gangsta rap. Do you? Tupac: No MTV: Why not? Tupac: Marlon Brando is not a gangsta actor. Heās an actor. Axel Rose and them are not gangsta rock ānā rollers. Theyāve got rock ānā rollers right? So Iāma rapper. This is what I do. Iām an artist. MTV: Does anything that Bob Dole says make any sense to you as far as rap is concerned? Tupac: Nah, I have no disrespect towards Bob Dole. I know he donāt know what heās talking about. Heās just talking. Some card that somebody gave him heās just reading off that card. But heās cute, you know what I mean? Heās my grandfather. MTV: One of the characterizations made of rappers often is that theyāre very boastful. It seems like right now youāre taking pain to be humble and look at things from a very realistic perspective. Is that accurate? Tupac: Yes, I think being humble is sexy. Thatās my new put Iām pushing humble. MTV: Youāre being humble to get chicks? Tupac: Iām starting to turn you on, Tabitha. As a matter of fact, Iām hoping my humble thing is gonna get to you . MTV: So you got married in prison? Tupac: Yeah MTV: What happened with that? Tupac: It didnāt work. Not because of her or me or jail it just wasnāt the right thing to do at the time. I married her for the wrong reasons. MTV: What were the reasons? Tupac: I cared about her but I married her because I was in jail, I was alone and I didnāt want to be alone. MTV: How would you compare to fame and fortune in 1995 to how you did a couple years ago? Tupac: I believe Iām more responsible, more mature and more focused and I will be more focused and even more responsible and even more mature in time. MTV: It seems like the two sides of Tupac are constantly battling with each other. One minute your spitting at TV cameras, the next youāre talking about Shakespeare. Have you reconciled those two? Tupac: Hopefully. Iād like to think so. I think that Iām really I was a reactionary and now I donāt do that anymore. Same person, just I donāt react. Before I reacted I didnāt like the cameras, Iād spit. MTV: The last time we talked you said that you were best known for your big mouth. What do you feel youāre best known for now? Tupac: Taking five bullets. Surviving. Iām known as a survivor now. I hope so for the jail thing, bullets, and the everything. Controversies and everything. I hope so. And I wanna be in the future known as somebody, you know, I want people be talking about me like, you know, āRemember when he was real bad? Remember when Tupac was real bad?ā You know what I mean? They do that about a lot of actors now. Like John Travolta I read stories and itās like, āRemember when you were wild?ā And all these other people they now are sweethearts. We all should get that chance. I just want my chance. Read the full article

Which Is Tupacās First Song?
Which Is Tupacās First Song? A quick online reference would show you that Tupac released his first studio album in 1991. That year, the sensational 2Pacalypse Now hit the market, strengthening the young and promising rapperās position on the West Coast scene, and paving the way for more future projects. Before that, however, Tupac had worked on the project "Same Song" with Digital Underground, and they had used his vocals as part of the soundtrack to the movie "Nothing but Trouble" by director Dan Aykroyd, a grotesque comedy featuring Demi Moore.

2Pac in the 'Same Song' Music Video, 1991 However, few people know that these were not Pac's first steps in the hip-hop industry. The truth is, the future rap legend makes his first recordings when he lives on the East Coast, in an apartment on Greenmount Avenue, Baltimore, together with his mother Afeni and his sister Sekyiwa. During his time in Baltimore, Tupac attends Roland Park School, and his music tastes are already hip-hop oriented. At this time, rap music was not yet the global pop-culture phenomenon that it would become, but more and more young people in the United States were growing fond of the relatively new genre. While studying in Roland Park, Tupac meets Dana āMouse Manā Smith, Gerard Young, and Darrin Keith Bastfield, and the four close friends create the āBorn Busyā group. This is the first rap project in which Tupac is involved, and it is with Born Busy that Tupac makes his first recordings.

Pictured, from left 2Pac, middle row fifth from right, as a middle school student. Dana Smith aka Mouse Man, bottom left, and 2Pac with family friends. The first two songs that the rapper records with Born Busy are called āBabies Having Babiesā and āCheck It Outā. Both tracks are in collaboration with Mouse Man and are part of the first demo tape of the future rap music legend. Pac and Born Busy record several more songs in 1988. āBabies Having Babiesā https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nFUK8Zw0AcY āCheck It Outā https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kbq3NBQ1IhA Tupac's first recordings are preceded by a curious moment in 1985 when the Enoch Pratt Library notices the growing popularity of hip-hop music. The library organizes a rap competition for a best song, offering a financial prize, and an opportunity for the finalists to perform their songs in front of an audience. Tupac notices the flyers, and he and Mouse Man form the band The East-Side Crew and join the competition.

Enoch Pratt Library, Baltimore, Maryland The two present to the public their own song, āLibrary Rapā, urging citizens of Baltimore to get their library cards and children to stay in school. 2Pac and Mouse Man win the contest, and to this day the original Tupac manuscripts with the lyrics of the song are kept in the library, alongside manuscripts of figures such as H.L. Mencken and Edgar Allan Poe. A woman named Deborah Taylor, who still works at the Enoch Pratt Library, remembers Tupac to this day. "When he was on stage, you just couldn't take your eyes off him," she recalls. Ā Read the full article

Mike Tyson Told Another Story When 2Pac Visited Him In Prison
On T.I.'s podcastĀ ExpediTIously, Tyson recalled the time Pac visited him in prison.Ā From the look of it, one such story centers around the time 2Pac came and visited Mike Tyson inĀ prison at the Indiana Youth Center in 1993; you may recall that Tyson and Pac were good friends, with Pac's death having occurred after he witnessed Mike Tyson defeat Bruce Seldon in Las Vegas. Tyson was arrested in July 1991 for the rape of 18-year-old Desiree Washington, Miss Black Rhode Island, in an Indianapolis hotel room. Ā ŠŠøŠ¶Ńе ŃŠ°Š·Šø ŠæŃŠ±Š»ŠøŠŗŠ°ŃŠøŃ Š² Instagram. The guards in the prison didn't like him cause when he came, the inmates got rowdy and pumped up. That's like a safety situation there so they really didn't like him, Tyson recalled.

2Pac & Watani Tyehimba visiting Mike Tyson in prison at the Indiana Youth Center in 1993 "He was just a bolt of energy," the champ continued. "When he came in, everybody knew him. He had mad respect. I guess that's how he lived his life, he demanded respect. When the word came out he just came to visit me, and then he went out and shot two police officers, off-duty police officers. Was There an Eternal Triangle Between Tupac Shakur, Lisa āLeft Eyeā Lopes, and Andre Rison?
āHopelessly In Loveā is Lifetimeās newest show that tells us about the romantic relationships of many famous Hollywood couples. The first episode of the docuseries revolves around the on-again-off-again relationship of TLC rapper Lisa āLeft Eyeā Lopes and NFL player Andre Rison. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IoGFYji9q1U The couple dated for over a decade, after meeting in an Atlanta club in 1992. As most relationships, theirs had many highs and lows, but it was obvious they loved and cared for each other. For that reason, many people were shocked to discover that during her time with Rison, Lopes was also entangled with Tupac Shakur. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-pjW0Fr2RA The spiciest fact is that Tupac and Rison were friends long before Lisa came into Risonās life. On the other hand, Lopes had been best friends with Tupac since 1991, when they met at an industry event. As you can see the eternal triangle is indeed present, and that is why this first episode attracts so much attention. Even though friends of Lisa confirmed that she was immediately attracted to the rapper when they met, they claimed to be only friends, and in 1992, she started dating Tupacās friend. Many people believe that she was in love with both of them at the same time. The strangest thing, however, is that it seems as if Andre knew it as well. āI think Andre knew how Lisa felt about Pac and I think Andre knew that was his competition,ā said Lisaās best friend, Trena Smith. āThey had a strong connection, they knew what each other were thinking, they could finish each otherās sentences.ā Lopes and Rison were surely one of the most infamous couples in the industry, and the fact that in 1995, after starting a house fire in their home, Lopes was arrested, proves it. While the TLC rapper was in the diversion centre, her boyfriend did not visit her that often as he was traded to the Cleveland Browns and was extremely busy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSJxO9NQ9kw Even though she continued dating him after being released, things were not the same and she felt closer and closer to her friend Tupac.Ā āIt was a strange love story because she and Pac never slept together and she and Andre were in a full-fledged relationship,ā Smith said. āAndre had her heart and Tupac had her soul.ā As one could expect, Rison was very suspicious of the relationship between his girlfriend and Tupac. Still, did Tupac and Lopes ever date, and were they ever intimate? According to Reign Lopes, Lisaās sister, when both rappers first met, Tupac told Lopes that they could never be intimate and that this is a rule they must not break. However, Lisaās cousin, Tangi Foreman believes that Lisa wanted something more. āLisa adored Tupac. If Tupac wanted to go there, she would have dated Tupac,ā she said. āShe really reflected on who she wanted to be with when she got out of the diversion center.āĀ Unfortunately, in 2002, the world was once again shocked by Lisaās death in a car accident, and she will never be able to confirm or deny this love triangle. 10 Songs In Which 2Pac Raps About Death
10 Songs In Which 2Pac Raps About Death Examining the works of 2Pac, we can see that one of the greatest rap artists of all time had a strong and unstoppable flirt with death. In many of his songs, 2Pac touches on topics related to the Beyond, and some would even say that he has repeatedly predicted his demise following the September 1996 shooting in Las Vegas. In this article, we will give you examples of ten 2Pac songs, in which he talks about death. It is up to you to decide whether the legendary rapper felt his end was near, and what is the meaning behind his words. āIf I Die 2Niteā https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LDllENVj8Kk The title of the song itself says enough - "If I die tonight." In this track, 2Pac once again depicts a lyrical gangster lifestyle, mentioning his friends who are no longer in this world. When you listen to the last third verse, it is almost as Pac prophetically seeing the headlines in the newspaper reporting his murder: "I hope they bury me and send me to my rest / Headlines readin '' Murdered to death '/ My last breath." "Open Fireā https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EAB6pQZuh3o āOpen Fire ā is a song from the R U Still Down?Ā album, released after the death of 2Pac. In this track, the rapper offers us three explosive verses saturated with enough action for an action movie script. In the first verse, 2Pac acknowledges that he has been ready to meet his end since the moment of his birth: Ā "Word to God I've been ready to die since I was born". āI Wonder If Heaven Got A Ghettoā https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_fCoK2OVJAc In many of his songs, 2Pac depicts with his words the lifestyles of many black males in America, forced by the government and the system to live below the poverty threshold In this song, Pac raises many social questions about the life of black male, and in the last third verse, he even doubts whether it makes sense to live in this way: āI wake up in the morning and I ask myself / Is life worth living, should I blast myself? ā āSo Many Tearsā https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6yZq-clWhI āSo Many Tearsā is part of the āMe Against the Worldā album, which is identified as one of the strongest in 2Pac's discography by both critics and fans. In this song, Pac indulges in moving lyrical revelations and even points out that his next destination is Hell, not Paradise (āI spend my time in this cell, ain't living well, I know my destiny is Hell ā) The whole text is filled with painful confessions and reflections, and in it, Tupac once more flirts with death, saying: āMy every move is a calculated step, to bring me closer.Ā To embrace an early death, now there's nothing leftā In the last third verse, he still shows hope that despite his sins-filled life, God can be merciful and allow him beyond the gates of Heaven: āI'm fallin 'to the floor; beggin 'for the Lord to let me in, to Heaven's door ā. āLetter 2 My Unbornā https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPmNQmmMZ84 The song āLetter 2 My Unbornā is further proof that death had never stopped infiltrating into 2Pacās thoughts. In this track, he writes a letter to his "unborn child" in case he dies before he has the chance to tell all this in person. The song is a fiction, because at the time of his death, 2Pac and his fiancĆ©e did not expect a child. In one of the verses, Pac seemed to foretell his death once more, expressing a desire to go peacefully rather than violently: Ā "Make way for a whirlwind prophesied / I want to go in peace .. when I gotta die". āThugz Mansionā https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Cz_nOpxgCU Life on Earth is hard and unfair, especially for young black male, but 2Pac's vision of Heaven is different. In his song āThugz Mansionā, Pac describes his vision of a place in Heaven where he and his loved ones can be free and happy: āWhere we can drink liquor store and no one bickers over trick shit / A spot where we can smoke in peaceā. The third verse of the song is particularly moving, since it starts with a letter to Tupacās mother Afeni, in which he asks her not to shed tears for her dead son, because he is in a better place. "Dear momma don't cry, your baby boy's doin 'good / Tell the homies I'm in heaven and they ain't got hoods" āI Aināt Mad at Chaā https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRtBgB1nCaU 2Pac often talks about his own death in his lyrics, and in the video for the song āI Aināt Mad at Chaā he even visualizes it as the main scenario of what's happening in the video. The video begins with a shooting that cuts the rapper down, in front of the eyes of a close friend of his. Then, we also see scenes from the ambulance when Pac is on his way to the hospital. 2Pac, however, does not survive the shooting, and in the rest of the video, he is represented as a figure from Heaven, dressed in white, speaking to his friend who is still grieving for him. āLife Goes Onā https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W69SSLfRJho What can we do when we lose our loved ones? We can grieve for them, sure, but the point is that life goes on, and with it, so do our own struggles. In the song āLife Goes Onā 2Pac touches specifically on the topic of death, including his own. In the chorus of the song, he admits that he often thinks of death ("Be a lie if I told you that I never thought of death"), and at the beginning of the third verse he even visualizes his funeral: "Bury me smilin 'with G's in my pocket / Have a party at my funeral, let every rapper rock it.. ā āRepresentin 4 Ron Gā https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2smtkr9o58o In the lyrics of the song in question, Tupac's prophetic gifts appeared once again, since only a couple of hours after he had recorded his verse: āFollow me, tell me if you feel me I think niggaz is tryin 'to kill meā, he was shot 5 times. The date was November 30, 1994, and early in the evening, Tupac was invited by Ron G., a DJ in New York, to record a song with him. Tupac agreed to record the song for free, as a favor to the young rapper who he wanted to help. (He usually charged other rappers a record fee). After he finished recording, Tupac received a message on his pager from a rapper named Booker, who asked him to record a song with Little Shawn, an East Coast rapper. Tupac agreed to the sum of $ 7,000. Booker agreed as well and told Tupac to come to Quad Studios, at 723 Seventh Avenue between 48th and 49th streets of Times Square, where he was ambushed by Walter 'King Tut' Johnson and Dexter Isaac, who robbed him and shot him 5 times. They were hired to kill Tupac for $ 2,000 only. ''Death Around The Corner'' https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAwPkGL4lOE In the song 'Death Around The Corner', the 23-years-old Tupac once again feels that death is very close. The very first verse explains how the rapper wants to be buried: ''In the city where the skinny niggas die If they bury me, bury me as a G nigga, no need to worry I expect retaliation in a hurry I see death around the corner - every day '' 1994 was one of the darkest years in Tupacās life. He was accused of rape, which he did not commit, he was shot, robbed and betrayed by his best friends. During this time of bad luck, Tupac made one of his most prophetic and spooky songs, part of his realest and most honest album-'' Me Against The World '' Ā Read the full article
