I want a dog. I want to get a dog, but I can't. I want a dog the same way I want someone to look at me like they love me and I want to be the type of person who wakes up on time. I want to walk through my neighborhood unselfconsciously enough that it becomes a habit and the blisters on my heels turn callous. I want to make friends that don't move on or away and I don't want to always be left wondering which option hurts worse. I want my plants to grow when I tend them with care and to finish unpacking the apartment I've lived in the past 3 years. I want old-fashioned ice cream in a waffle cone--two scoops, but I can't decide which flavor. I want to be more consistent without being so fucking predictable. I want to be called beautiful, just once, to see if I like it. I want a dog like I want one more letter from my grandmother. Like I want anonymity. Like I want rain.

#self reblog#just woke up from a dream where i got in a fight with my friends and instead of apologizing or compromising#or trying to like smooth things over in any way#i just got up from the group and said fine goodbye then and put on my shoes#which in this dream were black and gray and brown cowboy boots with multiple different kinds/textures of leather#very specific image of a shoe i do not own#and then i left all my other things behind and walked out#in my dream all my friends were at my parents neighbors house so i went to my parents house and took my family dog#(who died a few years ago irl) amd walked with him to the river which had flooded and just stood there with him#while everyone looked for me#and i ignored them#which gave me a sort of melancholic peace#and i woke up feeling once again very sad that i can't have a dog#anyways#dreams#dogs#dream journal
