Nearing 30 over here! Book love is the only thing keeping me on this site <3
Reblog if you’re a booklr & over 18 years old
I adore ALL my booklr loves, of course. But I’m feeling rather isolated in the “adult” category (I’m clearly using the term ‘adult’ very loosely). Signal boost so we can find each other!?!

Same here! I’ve had All the Boys on my TBR for a while, but it was never really a priority until I watched and fell in love with the Netflix show. Now Jenny Han is top of my list!
Dahl
Dahl: A book you read because you saw the movie?
I can’t think of an example off the top of my head, but I will say that I plan to read To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han because I recently watched the Netflix movie and really enjoyed it.

ME.
Is anyone else on the booktube, bookstagram, booklr community and you’re just like, you don’t keep up with new or coming releases, so as a result you don’t really read the books that everyone is super hyped about at the moment you just kind of wander aimlessly through random books and maybe you’ll read what everyone is talking about now in like 10 years time.

are you a black YA book blogger and want ARCs with black characters?
so im frustrated that publishers arent giving arcs with black characters to black reviewers so im going to fix this myself and curate a list of black bloggers to forward to publicists. blog size or country is irrelevant, if youre black, you qualify.
if you’re a black book blogger, please reblog this with your blog link. I’ll take care of the rest.
please nobody else reblog with a comment unless youre a black blogger so we dont clog this up. you can just reblog without a comment.
LETS FIX THIS!!!
allies, please reblog this so i can find them.

REVIEW: Long Black Veil By Jennifer Finney Boylan
In the summer of 1980, tragedy strikes a group of six friends. They spend a frightening night confused and scared in an abandoned, derelict prison, an adventure gone wrong. Their lives now look completely different 35 years later, but none of them can escape the memory and consequences of that night.
Creepy and subtly unsettling, Long Black Veil is a suspenseful thriller that carefully balances multiple narrators and perspectives to build a cohesive narrative. I had a hard time putting the book down, wanting to get to the answers as soon as possible. While the plot has its mysteries—none of the main characters know the complete events of the tragic night—the blanks are filled in earlier than you might expect. The tension that follows has more to do with anticipation of answers coming to light.
Some of the characters have more depth than others, and I wish they all had been fleshed out a little more. I would’ve appreciated more history to set the foundation of their personalities. Those who were provided with more detail—like Quentin—were beautifully written, and if the other friends had gotten the same care their motley crew may have made more sense.
I fully enjoyed this read and especially loved the representation of female and transgender characters. The book brought on a variety of emotions: fear, curiosity, empathy, fulfillment, humor.
Overall I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
I received this book from Blogging for Books in exchange for an honest review.
