Usually, I log windshield hours overnight, bleary-eyed and hammer down for shoot and projects down south..it’s not a great use of my time and the jet lag can be pretty brutal. Flying with camera gear is a drag, so until I am flying myself there in my own plane, I’d rather drive when possible. But then I found @amtrak - a perfect happy medium and a damn fine way to travel. I setup my roomette office and got to work taking calls, editing vids and building websites, breaking just long enough for complimentary meals and good conversations in the dining car with people I don’t normally encounter. For instance, Hunter & Claire, the WWII vet and his wife I enjoyed a meal with in route to LA while the sun set over the Pacific Ocean. They told me stories of the draft, raising a family, a career at @nasajpl and restoring a vacation house in falls city with their boys. I’d never have that experience in the car and most likely, not on a 3-wide coach config of an airliner either. After dinner, I was surprised to find the bed turned down, pillows fluffed and ready for a good sleep to the tune of the train chugging down the tracks. It’s old timey, it’s slow, its comfortable and it’s awesome. I have a confession: I think I’m a bad photographer.

I shoot so much for work that during my down time I can be a bit lazy about taking photos. That’s an awful thing because I live in one of the most beautiful places in the world, and I don’t take nearly enough photos. I will admit that I make excuses for not constantly having my camera on me, and there’s been many times where I regret it. I decided that in 2016 I would change that and start to take more photos for myself because I get to do and see some pretty neat things.

That new goal also coincides with my first ever international trip. In about a week I will be heading to Europe for an unspecified amount of time (my favorite length to plan trips) and I want to capture everything that I see, because the reality is that I will never get to experience those moments, views, and feelings ever again. Capturing time was the reason I wanted to be a photographer in the first place. It makes me feel immortal in a sense and I’m ready to get back to it and start sharing my experiences again.

I’m assuming you know who I am because you probably got this link from my Facebook, Instagram or Twitter. But if you don’t know me personally, here are the basics: I’m 26, I up and moved to Hawaii a year ago, and I have since built my photography business on the beautiful island of Oahu. I don’t believe that life was meant to be lived in one place, so I have spent the last year focusing on how to create a life that allows me to go where I want, when I want. It’s not as simple as it sounds (I didn’t become a multimillionaire in the past year, I’m barely a multithousandaire), but I have finally reached the point where I am able to invest my money into my number one dream - travel.

So here it is, “Stratso Goes” my new blog to keep all of my favorite travel and adventure photos. I really wanted to go with “Chelsea Goes” since my brother seems to have dibs on officially being “Stratso.” However the wonderful Chelsea Handler just dropped her series “Chelsea Does” on Netflix (which I highly recommend) so, this is where we’re at. Sorry, Steve.

Meet ‘Bike Batman’: Seattle’s vigilante reuniting stolen bikes with their owners

For cyclists mourning a lost bike, a call from the Bike Batman is a very welcome surprise. “It was so cool. My heart was just beating so happily,” said Douglas Brick, a 65-year-old Seattle resident who got his bike back via the Batman last summer. “This guy is the real deal.”

Bike Batman, however, shows no delusions of grandeur. “I’m not out fighting crime and punching people,” he said, although he said it is probably advantageous that he is more than six feet tall. “I’m telling people: This is not yours.” Read the full story in The Guardian.
