I think Riz knows how to draw people moderately well. But only faces.

That kid has watched enough detective movies to last him a lifetime, and I think he’s seen enough scenes with police sketches to go ‘oh maybe I should know how to do that’.

The thing is, there are SO many different races and species in Elmville, so he has to study them ALL in case any one of them becomes a suspect in a case.

He practices it with Penny, having her describe different facial features. She gets a little too into it and only halfway through his sketch will Riz realize he’s sketched out a full-bearded gnome with a kids propellor hat and heart-shaped sunglasses. Penny makes it a game for herself to see how far she can go with him.

When Penny disappears, I think thats the first time he tries drawing somebody he knows. He HAS pictures to remember what she looks like, but drawing her somehow makes it seem like she’s still there, like she’s in front of him and he’s simply drawing her as she is.

He eventually drops the habit after a year or two, realizing it wasn’t too useful when he usually knew or had images of the perpetrators for his cases.

I think he picks it up again when its relevant, a victim only passively seeing the perpetrators face, no picture or name. Riz pauses before picking up a pencil, the Bad Kids going ‘YOU CAN DRAW?’ (takes Riz a bit to realize, oh, guess being able to realistically draw candids of every single species in Elmville IS sort of impressive)

I think one of the Bad Kids would go up to Riz and ask the forbidden question “can you draw me?” (Most likely Kristen or Fig) and a little bit into the sketch he realizes ‘oh this is why people find drawing therapeutic’

After that he actually DOES get into it as a hobby (a tip from Jawbone) and for his next birthday his mom gets him a sketchbook

They end up eavesdropping on everyone living in Mordred at least once

Too much eavesdropping at one point, they’re just trying to go back to their original path and end up hearing Jawbone and Aelwyn talk about Adaine’s surprise birthday party or on the other bad kids planning their presents for Riz’s birthday through the walls

The map consists of three pages (and growing) that they both take turns examining it

Two nerds are given the a mystery house full of mysteries they’re not going to be seen for hours

Had a small idea of Adaine and Riz (cause they’re my favorite friend pair) exploring Mordred Manor’s secret passageways when they have a day off.

Like, two nerds given an entire MANOR full of secrets hidden away! A manor is average of a few hundred acres, just imagining them running around putting pieces of random cryptic puzzles together.

Adaine using her arcane powers to unlock otherwise impossible locks and Riz being the detective finding which possible passageways connect and where they could lead.

Maybe they do get lost, maybe Aelwyn or Ayda do need to cast Locate Creature or cast Scrying to find them in time for dinner.

Just know they’re not stopping until they find everything.
