The blush darkened as he stared at her. She looked down as her eyelids fluttered and she bit her lip. Hi, that was all you could say? How original Aquata. You talk to this guy almost every day and all you have to say right now is hi? Aquata mentally beat herself up for the moment as she looked down, but then she looked back up at him as she heard him swallow. Her lips were pursed and her eyes sparkled with curiosity as she waited for him to speak. "Thank you." She reached out and took the bouquet and smelled them. "They are lovely." Her ears perked at his next words. "I do?" Now you sound lacking in confidence. "I mean, I do. You look..." Amazing, dapper, debonair, handsome... "You look great." Great. That's what you say to a friend. She sighed softly. "Oh um come in while I take care of these."
Letting him in, Aquata took the moment to compose herself as she filled a vase with water and poured in the small packet of plant food. "I hope I'm not overdressed or... underdressed or... Something of the sort." She cut the ends of the roses carefully and dropped them in the water. "After all you wanted a surprise and I wasn't about to ruin it just to make sure I dressed all right. That wouldn't be very fun of me at all. And I just wanted to look as well... No, that's health. As good as I can and now I'm rambling a bit and I..." Aquata turned to him. "I like you... Very much. And my intentions with you are... Well, I'd like to be something and if that's not what you want, I understand. I'm not very good at tact and I just... At some point I would like you to be my boyfriend." The last sentence was blurted out quickly as she reddened and leaned against the counter. "Sorry."
Date Night// Basil and Aquata
Basil patiently stood in front of the door as he waited. His heart began to beat faster and faster, the feel of the beat pounding his chest. Basil felt as if his heart was going to come out of his chest. Hearing the sound of a click-clack of shoes coming closer from the other side of the door, Basil began to shake a little more. Now, he started to taking shorter breaths, hoping to calm himself down. Basil stood up a little straighter as he heard the knob began to twist, and saw the door crack open slightly. Seeing her petite figure appear on the other side, and Basil’s breath suddenly got caught. He stared wide eyed with his mouth slightly open, at the beautiful figure standing in front of him. He was truly lost for words.
Whatever he was thinking, or about to say was now lost at the expense of seeing her. The dress she wore hugged her curves just right and showed off just enough skin. Basil slowly swallowed, feeling his Adam’s apple bob. He stared at her for a few moments, until finally remembering why he came. Holding out his arm, Basil offered the white roses to Aquata. “These are for you” he finally managed. Now he truly knew that he couldn’t mess up. “You look…beautiful.” Turning a shade of pink, as he said the words.

Ba-dum, ba-dum... Aquata's heart rate was picking up pace as the sound filled her ears. It was loud and rhythmic ans she was breathing slowly. To say she was nervous would be an understatement. Dating wasn't something she was used to and she was scared she would mess this up. Do something spastic or odd to send Basil away and that idea frightened her most of all. The idea that he would be gone from her life because she messed up and messed up big time. With a swallow she slid on her undergarments then padded over to her closet to pick out what she'd wear. Knowing him, she ought to dress nice. So she would.
The fabric slid over her petite frame, a vibrant blue that glowed against he olive skin and clung to her chest and torso. It was short, beautiful. You could see the skirt fan out at the bottom, hitting mid-thigh while the straps sat nicely on her shoulders. Aquata's hair was drying in waves, cascading down her back while she pulled some back with a pearl clip her mother had given her long ago while the pearl strand her father gave her for Christmas sat just below her neck and on her collarbone. More deep breaths came out as she looked in the mirror and did her makeup then slid on black heels, strapping the ankle strap with a click. She was done. Now she just had to wait.
The rapping on the door made her swallow while she slid on a jean jacket and made way to the oaken door that now loomed in front of her. Everything would be all right, at least she hoped as she took the handle and opened the door. When her eyes fell on him, Aquata's nerves started to ebb away, a smile twitching on her lips and a brightness in her eyes took over her face as she looked at him and the roses, not saying a word until she realized she should. "Hi." That's all she had in her as a crimson blush started to pool in the hollows of her cheeks.
Date Night// Basil and Aquata
Basil slowly slipped on his jacket as he stood in front of the mirror. Nervously adjusting his tie, Basil sighed heavily. To say he was nervous was a bit of an understatement. All week he had been preparing for his date and he wanted to it to be perfect. He’s got it all planned, take her to a nice restaurant, then maybe for a walk. He didn’t really know much about romance or girls in general, so he decided to read up on it. Needless to say Basil got some weird looks from the librarian that day.
Checking himself in the mirror once more, Basil smoothed down his sleeves and grabbed his keys and the flowers. Walking out of his still box-filled apartment, Basil took a deep breath and locked his door. As he started to make his way to her place, he began to slightly shake. He had never been on a proper date before, and he just wanted everything to work out. Basil really liked her and he probably wouldn’t forgive himself if he messed up somehow.
Basil finally made it to her building. “Okay, too late to back out now" he thought. Walking up to her door, Basil looked at the white roses and smiled. Lifting his arm, Basil lightly knocked on the door.
