Never seen this mentioned but isn't it just really cool that Bernard is a foil to Tim himself by being a funhouse mirror of Early Tim and his motivations. Obviously he figured out Tim's identity by himself which is the gimme but it goes deeper than that
He's a Robin Superfan like Tim was a Batman superfan
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Yes I think a picture of Tim's stalker wall would be better here but then all of Tim's panels would be Stalker Wall pictures) He notices that Tim is off balance the same way that Tim noticed that Batman was off balance
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He concludes from this that Tim needs to let people help him, though of course instead of trying to get someone else to do it first he skips straight to helping himself
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Obviously they have a much different dynamic on account of being the same age and it being a romantic entanglement instead of a mentoral-to-familial one but isn't it just neat how Tim's arc in Urban Legends and TD:R about struggling over what the Robin identity means to him is supported by every aspect of the work like this. How the guy he likes is in many ways an echo of a younger and more idealistic Tim. How he's internalized the thing he pushed against - the Solo Batman I-Don't-Need-Anyone-when-I'm-having-a-breakdown thing - so hard that he has to have someone do for him what he insisted on doing for Bruce.
This is what it means to have a civilian cast that has meaningful thematic integration with their superhero. I've joked before that they matched freaks but they REALLY match freaks! On purpose! Lois Lane type of character

I just woke up and somehow the only thought in my head was Jason Todd as an Etsy witch but he only sells ‘violent spells’ and instead of doing spell work he just personally goes out and beats the shit out of whoever you choose

i truly think tim's 90s psa boy nature is a fundamental part of his character. you can posit that at this point in his life he's grown out of the belief that all premarital sex is bad, or that if you do a drug at any point you'll definitely get addicted, overdose, and then die -- i think he probably has -- but it is important that at one point, he did believe these things

timkon fans we do NOT talk about this parallel enough like
Tumblr media
what do you mean in one world kon died and tim adopted his colors to honor and mourn him
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and in another world, tim is the one who died and kon adopted his robin mantle in all but name and moved to gotham and started working with batman in order to honor and mourn tim.
like...wow. they are so normal about each other :)

Headcanon that Jason never learned how to drive but kind of figured it out and drives alright. For the most part. Okay, he's not a good driver, and in all honesty, this is probably canon since I doubt he ever took driver's ed but here are some scenes to consider:
-----
Dick: The car in front of you is slowing down. Slow down. Jason slow down. JASON SLOW THE FUCK DOWN.
Jason: Okay! Okay! Calm down, it's hard to tell when the car in front of you is slowing down anyways.
Dick: Yeah that's why cars come with brake lights. You know, the things on the back of the car? That go off when the driver is breaking?
Jason: ...OH so that's what those mean.
-----
Jason: Damn this road is so dark, I genuinely cannot see.
Tim: Turn on your brights.
Jason: The what?
Tim: *sigh* Twist the stick thingy.
Jason: Oh my god have these been there the entire time?
-----
*Jason driving alone and fumbling with lots of different buttons and switches to try and find where the windshield wipers are in loony toones esc fashion*
-----
Damian (who is currently in drivers ed): You can turn left now.
Jason: You can only turn right on red.
Damian: Yeah but it's a one way onto another one way. You can turn left in red.
Jason: This feels illegal.
Damian: I promise you it isn't.
-----
Damian (before he took drivers ed): Aren't we suppose to exit at some point?
Jason (currently on his third lap around the roundabout): Yeah I'm just... Scared.

In an ideal world Tim Drake would be calling Dana every single day during morning commute to check in on her like the good little son he is.

Everyone is convinced that Tim never sleeps, and keeps trying to make him go to sleep. But he does sleep. Honestly, he probably sleeps more than any of the Bats.
Unlike the others with their cases, Tim believes in this magical concept called "Delegation".
He has computer programs that run constant search functions that notify him when a match occurs. He has ears and eyes on the streets that let him know when something happens or when they see someone who has disappeared. He prioritizes his cases based on who is in immediate danger.
He also makes sure to end his patrol at one or two in the morning if he can help it, and barring extraneous circumstances, goes straight to sleep.
This leaves him with four hours a day to do CEO stuff (with help from Tam and his computer systems), but he also delegates most of that stuff too. The rest of the time is to chip away at his cases by checking in with his computer/people, and napping. He loves napping.
Unlike Bruce and many other Bats, Tim knows how to ask for help.
Unfortunately, this means that when he's sleeping, it's when everyone is scrambling and no one is noticing what he's doing.
When he wakes up, everyone is starting to trail off to bed.
So what everyone sees is Tim bleary and exhausted, beelining for the coffee machine.
Or; I try to explain fanon Tim behavior in regards to sleep but it's actually a misunderstanding. Bruce knows, of course, but he's not saying anything because he thinks it's funny. Tim spent all that time nagging him, now Tim gets to be hounded.

The idea of Tim and Ra’s having a mini war post time stream brings me joy. They’re not really out to kill, just inconvenience. One day Tim wakes up to a scandal that Ra’s set up and he has to figure out how to fix it and in retaliation Tim hacks into the LoA bases and causes intro music to play whenever Ra’s enters a new room.
One day Dick walks into the manor to see Tim staring at a singular cupcake sitting on the counter. Before he can steal it for himself Tim warns him off with a quick. “It’s from Ra’s and it’s poisoned.”
Dick is confused and flabbergasted and concerned because why is the 600 year old leader of an assassin cult sending his baby brother poisoned cupcakes.
“I snuck on to base and added laxatives to the water last month. I was gonna test the cupcake in the cave but my guess is it’s meant to incapacitate me the same time it took for them to get the water out of their system. Or maybe he’s just sending me a gift for the 2 year anniversary of me blowing up all his major bases. Last year he sent chocolate laced with non lethal doses of belladonna. Naturally I retaliated by hacking his servers and changing the language settings to Pig Latin.”
Dick just nods along and wonders how hard it would be to trick Tim into visiting a therapist. Also they are clearly not keeping a close enough eye on their brother.

the fandom’s twisted takes on jack drake and tim kind of make me sad because i feel like its canon state is the most realistic, relatable, and ‘heartwrenching in its own way’ form of a parent-child relationship. jack loves tim, but fails to communicate that properly. he doesn’t understand tim. the lack of dialogue between two people who love each other, but physically can’t express it, especially from the parental side, is a pain that is so valid and one that i’m sure many people can understand.
making jack abusive also takes away so much of tim’s canon grief and devastation. tim loved his father! he gave up robin for him! in their very last moments, he was crying and telling his father how much he loved him and to just hold on a little longer. and then the utter tragedy of arriving just seconds late to the sight of his father’s corpse.
and the added context that jack drake wasn’t even murdered intentionally, it was a freak accident part of a larger scheme that didn’t even involve tim at all. can you imagine tim’s anger?? the bitterness???
anyways… i think the story of losing one’s parent and spending forever thinking about all the unsaid words, regretting what you did say, being angry at the circumstances, wishing for anything to bring them back, holds so much weight on its own and it really doesn’t need unnecessary non-canon details of jack being abusive or cruel when that wasn’t the case. you don’t need to vilify everyone. i know he was FAR from perfect but he did love tim, and tim loved him back and he will likely grieve for him forever.
