honestly if snails were like elephant sized and they traveled in herds and left a huge sheet of slime across the land where evetything dies and nothing can grow, but there was another big herd of pretty slugs that also left a big sheet of slime where everything grew really fast like a trail of plants and flowers and shit, and they were all too big for any of us to fuck with theyre just like rolling monuments that slide around the earth creating and erasing everuthing behind themselves and like infinitely overlapping and replacing the other ones trail like a never ending game of splatoon, and we could never live in the same spot for too long,

"tbh we might have clowned on [aros & aces] a lil too harshly" bigotry. the term you're looking for is bigotry. denying communities their vocabulary and ability to safely exist because you think you're the personal arbiter of which identities are "valid" is bigotry. minimizing and infantilizing and harassing entire groups of people based on their orientation is bigotry. aphobia isn't some forgettable phase of being cringe as a teenager, it's bigotry that inflicted long term damage to these communities.

Hey it’s ace week and you’re local ace has something to say! I’ve been out as ace for 3 years now and it’s still a big part of my identity that I’m proud of so here’s a lil something for those who need it!

discourse posts making fun of ace kids for saying some cringey stuff are honestly so gross. like, when i first realized i was asexual, i was all about those silly memes about how i would rather eat cake than have sex. up until that point, society had made it very clear that sex was the best thing that could ever happen and that i should be always concerning myself with how to have it. which, of course, wasn’t something that i wanted.
and then for the first time, people were telling me that, no, i didn’t have to make sex my top priority. i could make mac n cheese and shitty horror movies and cake my top priority. and that was a Big Deal to lil asexual me. yeah, some of the stuff i said was pretty iffy and maybe even a little problematic, but damn! i was just a teenager expressing their newfound identity and trying to be proud of something that all of mainstream media was telling me i should never, ever be proud of.
so, you know, maybe cut those kids who are always going on about how cool it is to be ace little bit of slack?

Hey, so I was rereading The Stepford Wives (1972) a few months ago, and…
Tumblr media
[For screenreaders: Sylvia called to apologize – she had been passed up for a promotion she damn well knew she deserved-and Charmaine called to say they'd had a great time and to postpone a tentative Tuesday tennis date. "Ed's got a bee in his bonnet," she said. "He's taking a few days off, we're putting Merrill with the DaCostas-you don't know them, lucky you-and he and I are going to 'rediscover each other.' That means he chases me around the bed. And my period's not till next week, God damn it."
"Why not let him catch you?" Joanna said.
"Oh God," Charmaine said. "Look, I just don't enjoy having a big cock shoved into me, that's all. Never have and never will. And I'm not a lez either, because I tried it and that's no big deal. I'm just not interested in sex. I don't think any woman is, really, not even Pisces women. Are you?"
"Well I'm not a nympho," Joanna said, "but I'm interested in it, sure I am."]
Tumblr media
[For screenreaders: 'Really, or do you just feel you're supposed to be?"
"Really."
"Well, to each his own," Charmaine said.
"Let's make it Thursday, all right? He's got a conference he can't get out of, thank God."
"Okay, Thursday, unless something comes up."
"Don't let anything."
"It's getting cold."
"We'll wear sweaters."]
That's… that's a canonically asexual character.
A pretty accurate one as well— if you hang out in the ace community today, you'll find loads of stories from people who spent time assuming that they must be gay ("because if I'm not attracted to the opposite gender, then what else is there?"), or coming to the conclusion that nobody really feels sexual attraction and everybody's just pretending to do so to fit in.
And it's clearly intentional representation, since the author goes to the trouble of clarifying in the text that this isn't just gay coding, or an example of the 'women just don't enjoy sex' stereotype.
It's canon ace rep. In 1972. In the form of a female character who is confident, social, sexually experienced and basically the opposite of all aphobic stereotypes you'll find.
Yep. We've always existed.

trans ppl own the word queer
we use it to stay safe so we don’t have to constantly announce that we are trans in potentially unsafe company
it originated in the gay community and has always seen common (if regional) use in actual lgbt communes and real-world activism
terfs want to retire the word queer so trans women have to taxonomize themselves to self-identify
there is no other word that serves its purpose
there is nothing distinct about its use as a slur from the word “gay”
i just saw someone get called a “demon” for self-identifying as queer by someone with f*g in their url
im actually over caring how harsh it sounds on yalls ears
blacklist it if it triggers your ptsd that bad
you’re not allowed to compromise trans women’s safety and demonize our elders because you’re sheltered enough to think nono words are the biggest threat to our way of life & you’re too ignorant to know your history
i dont care what galaxy brain discourse you saw. i, and every trans woman i know, am telling you that stigmatizing the word queer is choosing terfs over us
cis ppl should reblog this but dont say anything

friendly reminder that ace, nonbinary, & pan exclusionists don’t do anything to help the lgbtq+ community. all they do is make people feel unsafe in a place that already welcomes them. anyways ace, nonbinary, & pan people deserve to celebrate pride.

“We chose the term “asexual” to describe ourselves because both “celibate” and “anti-sexual” have connotations we wished to avoid: the first implies that one has sacrificed sexuality for some higher good, the second that sexuality is degrading or somehow inherently bad. “Asexual”, as we use it, does not mean “without sex” but “relating sexually to no one”. This does not, of course, exclude masturbation but implies that if one has sexual feelings they do not require another person for their expression. Asexuality is, simply, self-contained sexuality.”
— The Asexual Manifesto, Lisa Orlando and Barbara Getz, 1972

Hey, y’all remember that time that exclusionists doxxed me and numerous other inclusionists (including a few who have allegedly gone so far as contacting a person’s place of work - no screenshots of that as it was a while ago), sent death threats, told us we should be raped if we wanted to be oppressed so bad, etc - but it’s okay becaus NONE of that apparently caused us material harm and we are all just fearmongering?
LMAO good times LOL

Important
Block the following user, they’re an ace troll blog that’s only existed for 4 days and only started posting more frequently when the started getting attention on their first post. They’re lesbophobic so just a warning.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is a very similar format to the known troll blog “asexualpower”, from the lesbophobia to the “agbtq+” thing that exclusionists had taken seriously before despite being an obvious troll (pic for comparison).
Tumblr media
Whoever runs this blog is a lesbophobe and generally toxic troll. Block and ignore, don’t interact.

if you used to be an exclusionist, but now support aspecs, here's some tips to let aspecs know that you're trustworthy:
search up "ace", "asexual", "aro", "aromantic", "ace discourse", "allo", etc. on your blog. delete any posts that you now disagree with or find gross. maybe search "mogai" up, too. make sure your about/byf/dni/whatever doesn't have anything that reeks of exclusionism in it.
make a post that supports aspecs, or reblog from aspec positivity tags. (and please make sure you include aros-- especially alloaros and other non-ace aros-- in the positivity, as more than just a footnote). if anyone asks your stance on ace discourse, especially to see if you're safe to follow, don't just say you're "neutral" if you feel you don't know enough about it. say you don't know enough about it. and unless you're sure your blog reflects support for aspecs, "neutral" will read to any aspecs who are checking for their own comfort and safety as "exclusionist who doesn't want to admit it".
actually, if you're ex-exclusionist especially, please don't say you're "neutral" on aspec "discourse". exclusionists are bigots. condemn them. you cannot be neutral when one side is inherently bigoted and the other side is not. to claim you are so is to side with the bigots.
remember that aphobe =/= exclusionist. all exclusionists are aphobes, but you can be inclusionist and still be aphobic. (cishets are their own thing, if you've been an exclusionist you better not be cishet.) if you genuinely want to support aspecs, considering seeking out aspec blogs to follow to educate yourself. and don't platform aphobes, especially not blatant ones who showcase it in their username.
