Welcome to 199X, the worst time in history yet to be a mutant.

The pseudo-prototype to my more lengthy ongoing serialized X-Men fanfiction I've been working on for a while, this story explores two mutant runaways joining the X-Men during a tumultuous time in mutant history. It's gay too.

The Dark Phoenix is a not a good movie, but the scene where Jean forces Xavier to walk up the stairs to her stands out to me as one of the most horrific things I've seen. I don't know. I've seen a lot of horror films, watched tons of characters die in gruesome ways, but to watch that in isolation is this bizarre feeling of terror. It's the only time the movie actually feels like Dark Phoenix, Jean acting out in cruelty and power because she can.

EMMAKITTY MY LOVES!!!! so fun to see mutuals who enjoy their dynamic:) i love how they're similar but the different roles they occupy makes it so they feel like they're opposites to each other and i'm so obsessed with how Exceptional brought them together without disregarding their past and history (like Marauders kinda did) and they're just so!! they were the best part of Whedon's Astonishing X-Men for me, the way they clashed with each other in that run was just so good. i love them

I always find it funny when people talk about how Claremont ruined Magneto, and that he was far more interesting prior.

Like... what? Magneto is the most boring one dimensional villain of all time prior to that. He and Dr. Doom were on the same level of overly ridiculous pure evil man who is evil because he's evil.

Claremont made him more interesting by giving him motivation for why he is the way he is. I find Magneto infinitely more interesting when he's restraining his worst impulses so he can do good in the world for mutants, as opposes to a 60s-Magneto who is just evil and wants mutant supremacy for the sake of his own ego.

I think a lot of that is pushed by the Fox depiction of Magneto, who retains the Claremont backstory but lacks any of the nuance that makes him interesting until his depiction in the second trilogy, where he is given a bit more intrigue even if the movies aren't quite as good.

Mutant Name: The Bloodletter

Powers: Hemokinetic; can control her own blood in a variety of ways, including changing it from a liquid into a solid; later this ability evolves into the dangerous ability to manipulate anyone's blood; Her body cannot make blood so she must consume the blood of others to make up for this; weak healing factor to assist in clotting

Other notes: She wears gloves to cover up sharp claws at the end of her fingertips. She is severely photosensitive and burns quite easily under UV lights, so her entire body is usually covered up. Almost always cold due to her the mutation of her physical body. Her powers didn't manifest until puberty, but her physical appearance manifested when she was born.

Civil War is a fascinating event if only because its an absolute cluster where a majority of the writers hate this event, there clearly wasn't a solid idea of who is and isn't pro registration, and clearly Mark September 11th Millar needs to keep talking about it five years later and then do it a thirtieth time during Ultimatum

there's so much happening in deadly genesis but the sudden murder of sean is by far the most nutso thing that happened as he says, "I hope I have one last good scream in me" like what the fuck man can we have sean go five minutes without his life sucking ass
