i’d tweet this but yellowjackets twitter is still the most terrifying place on the internet so i’m just gonna say it here and hope it doesn’t summon the wrong crowd!!
as a writer, i genuinely thought this was common sense & basic fandom etiquette but apparently it needs to be said: you do not offer unsolicited criticism on someone’s fanfiction/fan art unless the creator explicitly asks for it. (to be very clear: exceptions exist!! if someone’s writing/art is actively harmful, hateful, bigoted, etc. that’s a separate convo & not at all what i’m talking about here!!) if you don’t like someone’s characterization, their ship dynamics, the setting, the tone, whatever, that’s fine, you’re entitled to your own opinion! what you’re not entitled to is telling an artist how they “should’ve done it differently”, especially when that creator is just some person sharing their art for free (!!!) because they care about the story or characters. if that’s not your vibe, that’s fine!! scroll past it. mute the tag. OR, better yet, write your own fanfiction!!
anyway. this has been your friendly reminder that consensual critique is great, but unsolicited negativity is just bad manners and tearing down someone else’s work because it didn’t fit your personal headcanon is not constructive, but lowkey just mean & makes fandom less fun for everyone! :) if you’re that passionate about it:
WRITE YOUR OWN FANFICTION!!

More Yellowjackets and Fallout thoughts…
My girlfriend keeps wanting me to continue these so.. 😼
These are just my thoughts and opinions so take it all with a grain of salt
CW: Death mentioned but not described

Melissa Hat
- I think that Melissa would also be apart of the Gunners—specifically near Shauna as much as she can be.
- Grew up around violence in the commonwealth, I think she’d also have several brothers within the Gunner ranks who she basically looks up to
- Super intimidated by Shauna when she first saw her. She witnessed Shauna kill like 3 grown men who were hassling her and it just clicked something in her
- She definitely yearns for a suit of power armor every day. Idk why but she definitely seems like she’d want one BAD
- I think within the Gunner ranks she’d be less of a field ops girl and more of a repair girl who just fixes shit for them. The only reason she would go out on scouting or small raids is because Shauna is leading them
- Kind of follows Shauna around. The one time she doesn’t is when Shauna meets Jackie during scouting. Shauna wouldn’t come back to the base for over a week.
- When she does return, Melissa is superrrr pissed
- Some kind of confrontation would start from this i’m sure
Laura Lee
- I’m biased because I love Lottielee but I think Laura Lee would be one of Lottie’s disciples within the Children Of Atom
- Veryyy devoted to whatever Lottie says.. constantly leads little prayer groups while also making posters and notes to try to get people to worship atom
- I don’t know what else to really give her character other than she’s extremely devoted to Lottie.
- I think originally she would’ve grown up in a settlement that was just her family. Then, I think it would’ve been ransacked by raiders, killing her father. This would’ve sent her mother into a frenzy, which drove Laura Lee away from the settlement.
- Lottie would have found her near the edge of the Glowing Sea with barely any supplies or food. I think Laura Lee would be quick to accept help—mostly because Lottie is extremely charismatic when it comes to atom
- Definitely tells other followers of atom that same story of how Lottie ‘saved her’
- OR as a complete 180… you could translate her faith into the kind of loyalty that Brotherhood soldiers have to the BOS
- It kind of makes sense?? I could definitely see her hating all kinds of Ghouls.. wanting to protect technology from evil.. she means well but doesn’t execute it properly. If that makes sense
Misty Quigley
- Idk why but Misty is so hard for me to picture like WHERE she would be in the commonwealth. I have brainstormed a few things
- I definitely think she’d have something to do with science for sure.. which makes me want to put her in with the Institute
- If she were in the institute, I think she would be in the Bio Science division or Robotics, where they make the synths
- My reasoning for putting her in the institute is because she’s insanely smart and good at science.. but is also like.. not using her knowledge for good, really. I wouldn’t say the institute is really a good faction.. it’s not GREAT but it’s not like.. evil.. i guess. I feel like she fits there
- I also think she’d nerd out over making synths, like talking in great detail about every little thing they do and how amazing they are
- Also.. the institute does kidnap people. They have that in common… so it’s basically perfect
Akilah
- I also think Akilah would be in the institute.. specifically in the Bio Science division because of their ability to create synthetic animals like the gorillas. I think she’d take care of a bunch of synthetic animals
- Or, I can see her in working on a farm with her family. I think in S2 she mentioned her sisters or brothers.. and I can picture her living on a family ranch of sorts that gets by with their crops and a couple of brahmin
- I could see her working within a settlement run by the Minutemen too!! I think she’d fit in very well with their ideals
Mari Ibarra
- She’s the one I’m having the most trouble with. Like, I genuinely don’t really know where she’d fit in this universe
- She kinda gives me BOS Knight vibes?? Like they’re all very opinionated and blunt like how she is. The Knights especially will outright insult you based on your companion.. it reminds me of Mari
- I also think she’d be BOS because Shauna definitely hates them—and I don’t know how they’d meet yet, but Mari would definitely ragebait Shauna subconsciously. Jackie would have to hold her back
Travis and Javi Martinez
- I think Travis would be a caravan guard that protects Van’s traveling business. Javi obviously tags along—collecting trinkets and pre-war toys so he can build stuff
- Or, I think Travis would be apart of the Minutemen. He’d teach Javi how to use a gun after their father is killed by raiders
- They’d never be separate—always sleeping in the same room so that Travis can make sure Javi is okay
- Fallout Travis is definitely a lot like season 1 Travis. Very standoff-ish. Very wary of anyone and everyone.
- In a Minutemen sense.. I think Javi would really want to be more involved with helping out—which Travis would immediately shut down
- Or… I could also see Travis also being apart of the BOS. With Javi being a squire. Travis could be a Knight like Mari in the same squad. I think they’d get along in a familial sense.

I really love this au

Yellowjackets x Fallout…
Nobody asked for this but i love yj and fo4 so
This would also be in the timeline and setting of Fallout 4 only(I love New Vegas but I don’t feel educated enough to compare it..)
This is just my opinion of how I view both pieces of media.. but I’m TERRIBLE at analyzing characters so.. warning for that
CW: Canon-typical violence (Nothing explicit, only a small part is stated)

Jackie Taylor
- I’m kind of biased because of Ella Purnell’s character Lucy from the fallout show, but I do think Jackie would be from a vault. She mentions many times in the first season that she “isn’t made for the wilderness” and along those lines. Kind of like how she wouldn’t be able to survive well in the Commonwealth alone. But I think she could adapt if she had someone with her (Shauna)
- For what her vault experiment would be.. I’m not really sure. Though, if we were sticking with strictly the FO4 universe, Vault 83 would also probably work for her. They’re cautious to outsiders, but not against them. Maybe she’d meet one of the other Yellowjackets in this universe and want to leave the vault.
- Maybe her mother or father is overseer, or maybe they run one of the shops inside Vault 83. She takes her father’s gun and ventures outside the vault when she knows the security guards are lazy and fallen asleep.
- Though I think she’d be fairly sheltered from the the commonwealth definitely, like very confused but eager to prove herself
- I don’t think she’d be stupid in the Commonwealth… maybe just clumsy and very uninformed? She didn’t expect every turn to have people with grenades and flamers and guns. I think she’d eventually find refuge within some building, a little far from the big city. That’s where I think she’d meet a very annoyed and frustrated Shauna Shipman.
Shauna Shipman
- Shauna honestly gives off either Gunner or BOS vibes. Mostly because of how violent she is during S3 of yj, and how she doesn’t really consider her actions. Shauna is incredibly stubborn when it comes to what she thinks, which reminds me a lot of the BOS because of their stubborn nature against synths and technology.
- I want to say probably Gunners because one of their important ‘ideals’ is they tend to kill anyone who they feel is too weak. They’re no better than raiders, but they’re organized. I feel like Shauna, in this universe, might find herself mindlessly working for them. She would get to hurt people who are weak, and not have to really think twice about it.
- If she was in their ranks, I think she would’ve been recruited when she was in her late teens when they told her she wouldn’t have to ever struggle to find food again.
- I also think she’d have beef with the Minutemen too no matter what. She would probably think helping people for nothing in return is a waste of time.
- I really do believe that she could change, though! Like meeting a very confused Jackie Taylor out in the commonwealth, and for once in her life, Shauna hesitates when she’s about to pull out her rifle.
Charlotte “Lottie” Matthews
- Lottie inspired this ENTIRE idea because I made the connection between her and Children of the Atom and OHHHH MY GODDD.
- I think Lottie would be in the crater in the fo4 universe.. where she worked her way up to being ‘Mother’ status—or along the lines of a said ‘leader’ within the crater of atom.
- Lottie’s role in the wilderness really inspired this with how she acts almost as a divine savior to others, her behavior really reminds me of the Children of Atom.
- I think she’d revel in living in the Glowing Sea with her many followers. I see her living their in contrast to the group within The Island (Far Harbor DLC), who are a lot more violent throughout that questline.
- I still think she’d be fairly young, most of these people are the same age as they were in the show, but I think Lottie, in this case, would be maybe mid-twenties?
- I’d also want to say that Laura Lee would be one of her disciples maybe
Natalie Scatorccio
- Natalie reminds me soooo much of like if Cait and MacCready were combined into one person. Like in Yellowjackets, I still think she would suffer from addiction—either being Jet or more uncommonly, Day Tripper. I can’t see her using Psycho.. but mostly because I don’t want to plaster her character onto Cait just because they both have struggled with addiction.
- I think that she would be ex-gunner like MacCready, and that she’d have beef with Shauna who is still within the Gunners ranks. I feel like I’m being lazy but I also feel like she would hang around Goodneighbor like MacCready.
- She’d be pretty well known around Goodneighbor, but pretty quiet. She’s not a complete dick, but people most likely know that she doesn’t fuck around.
- I think she would’ve either left abruptly or have been removed from the Gunners because of her addictions. I lean more towards her leaving, mostly because I think that her morals eventually would’ve come to her and she couldn’t deal with the guilt that came from being in their ranks.
Vanessa “Van” Palmer
- I can DEFINITELY see Van being a trader of some sort. She frequents Diamond City and Bunker Hill like nobodies business. I don’t think she’d stay in one place for long, she’d definitely like to travel around the Commonwealth. Kind of like a better version of Trashcan Carla(?)
- I also think she’d collect the comic books you can find around the city, or the bobble heads. Like, one of the packs on her travel brahmin is definitely just full of collectible things that she finds.
- With her personality, I think she’d have no problem getting information from all over the Commonwealth. She definitely knows everything going on, she just chooses to prioritize herself before getting involved in any scuffles with the BOS vs Institute bs.
- I think in this case, Van doesn’t have an established relationship with Taissa for a while. If it were a fanfiction, it would be a slow burn. This is mainly because I also believe Taissa to be either within the Gunner ranks with Shauna, or an Ex-Gunner who turned to the Minutemen.
- In the case of the latter of those two, I think Van would meet Tai either in a settlement, or when Van musters up courage to try to bring her salesmanship into The Castle. They’d probably initially have one-sided beef when Van keeps trying to haggle with Tai, but I think I think Tai would eventually start to really like Van.
Taissa Turner
- I think her family would’ve been made up of entirely Gunners, and she was born into it, unlike Shauna who was recruited. She most likely didn’t really think about it what she was doing until she was sent out with a small squad (including Shauna) to pressure a farm into supplying them.
- Things went bad and she watched Shauna kill the head of the settlement when he resisted their terms. She watched as his family cried over his body, and as Shauna barely reacted. Before they even made it back to their compound, Tai had already come up with a plan to leave.
- Shauna would’ve seen her the night she was escaping, they definitely would’ve argued.. but Shauna never told anyone anything.
- Taissa probably would’ve wandered for a while before getting to Diamond City, where she would’ve overheard some settlers talking about how the Minutemen are getting back on their feet.
- I picked Minutemen and Ex-Gunner for Taissa because she’s not perfect, but she still has good in her, as well as loyalty. Taissa likes being in control, and feeling structured—both of which she could get from either faction. The Minutemen definitely would’ve been her first time ever feeling like she belonged somewhere where she could help.

Let me know if this was terrible and I should never touch this app again.. also I KNOW I missed Misty.. I’m really stuck on where she would be within this universe. I almost want to say Institute??
