Ah.

Adam wasn’t in any place to try and take back words, it’s not that he wanted to apologize and nod it off as if it was all his fault…

Since it wasn’t.

Adam’s mental battle with himself felt as if lasted forever, only lasting mere moments as he looked up to the other. Then stood up, eyes locked with the hands that threatened to tug out the red strands of the other’s hair.

“Do you truly find me disgusting…?” Adam shook his head and leaned back against the counter, “Would you rather I say that I hated you, that such a beautiful aspect of humanity disgusts me as well!?”

Adam’s circuts were screaming at him to shut up, getting stabbed would probably come later, he approached the hunched over figure and whispered low under his breath, “…because… It would all be lies– All of it– I speak the truth, Sho!” Adam bit the inside of his mouth as his voice raised.

“Stab me if you want, I won’t take it back.” the machine practically stood there pouting, both of them hardheaded it seemed… Adam pressed a hand across his own eyes, how did he think he could do this…

Adam let the now full glass slip from his hand into the sink, nothing had broken, and nothing had disturbed the sound of the other’s words against his ears– Just surprised by the words that came from his lips. He turned the tap off quickly.

He knew the banter well between Minazuki and Sho, well enough to always know the one he had given his heart to. Sho violent, sometimes grumpy and the one he had confessed so many embarrassing things to–

Yes, the read headed stubborn boy he had fallen for… Humans were truly strange. But if he thought of himself, so was he.

They both were.

Adam took a few steps over beside, said redhead, exhaling a breath as he spoke, “It’s just me, it’s okay.” More of a formality at this point, “You didn’t have to thank me… I will admit I only enjoy seeing how happy you are, it is enough to know you appreciate the gesture, but, you’re welcome.”

Adam leaned against the other’s shoulder, hair cascading against him as he rested a hand on his thigh… Warm. Sho was really warm… Without thinking Adam had opened his mouth again, almost tripping over his words,

“Sho, I haven’t said it in a while, so… I truly love you, ah–” Adam clasped his free hand to his mouth and looked away, not making any decision to move, just flushed pink adorning his cheeks.

That was definitely out loud.

Sho looks away, still unsure of how to react to this sort of talk. Still, in spite of everything, unsure of whether or not to trust it. His blush deepens feeling Adam lean into him; feeling the gentle touch to his thigh. The struggle between the part of him that wants the contact and the part that assuredly doesn’t strikes up now as it does nearly any time he’s touched, but he’s just beginning to warm up to it a bit when he hears–

Well, that certainly tips back the scales. The sweets fall from his hands as he jerks away and leaps up to his feet.

“W-w-what the–” he stammers, shaking, overcome by a wave of bewilderment, and… fear. Anger naturally follows– his defense against any and all unwanted emotions.

“Y-you just– just SHUT THE HELL UP!” he outright screams. “Didn’t I say before to keep that shit the fuck away from me?! It makes me wanna PUKE!”

And then he just stands there, panting through gritted teeth, fingers wound up tight in his hair. His eyes are wide open yet stare at nothing, focus lost to the sudden storm in his mind.

Adam was staring off towards something that he couldn't see, maybe the presence of all the humans around is what he was trying to find-- but humans... There were tons of them here, this was different this time. He could find any human he wished, they were all the same after all...

He was different.

So with his white hair flowing behind him, the wind threatening to almost blow him away, he turned back to look at the Android. Although, he knew the truth now, they were all machines, the shock that must of passed through him. Adam would of loved to see the artificial reaction, how the scanner would of dealt with it.

So, as he pushed his glasses up and looked behind him, Adam gave him a weak smile, "Doesn't it... Feel as such?" Adam turned fully and walked towards him, only a few steps, before he stopped, "Although, if this was truly the ark, There are humans everywhere, you are aware the truth... So it cannot be. Can it, 9S?" It was soon bittersweet, Adam shaking his head almost in defeat, "Isn't it... all such a shame?"

“Adam…”

In a city full of humans, 9S had finally found something like himself. Ah, like himself, what a funny joke he just told there. A lifetime ago he would have been burned at the comparison of himself and a man like Adam. He most likely would have run away to the ends of the earth to avoid him, or even pursued him to the ends of the earth trying to kill him. 

Now, 9S simply stood in front of him with his arms open. His last memory, a distant conversation with Adam played in his mind. The machine who loved hatred more than anything else, and he who had nothing left but hatred, especially for machines, for some reason his presence, his words they were peaceful. 

Perhaps even responsible entirely for the current peace he was feeling in the wake of his meltdown above the tower. 9S’s mouth hung open and finally he was able to speak again. 

“This place… is this where you meant the arc to take us?”

Adam wiped softly at his eyes with his gloved hand, what a shame really. He would of loved to remember. But, everything she said was right. "I suppose they have taken... Ah both from me then." Adam laughs low and shakes his head,

"Asher?" he folds his hands on his crossed legs, "Do tell me about him! How cute, humans are truly interesting, aren't they?"

Sitting beside her with a decent amount of space between them, “So, how has the city been fairing for you?”

Adam looked up, jolting slightly. Nobody had ever asked a question like that, and Adam was never used to being touched either... With a small sigh, placing his hand over the stranger's to not give him the wrong idea, he spoke, "Apologies, it's been a rough week... I appreciate this." he let his hand slip from his shoulder and instead patted the spot beside him on the bench, "...the truth is, I'm not."

"Ah... It has been quite a time since we last spoke." Adam remembers each new memory, getting kicked out of supermarkets, discovering what sugar was-- "I have much to say, although I suppose the most important part of it all was learning truly what love was."

He shook his head, his white hair ghosting in the wind, "As for where ive been, with someone I can't seem to remember... It's strange, truly, I should remember... but my memory seems to have failed me-- Regardless, how about you? I'm much more curious, you know!"
