"I'm certain he will, I like your sourdough," Mairon assured Maeglin. He did not understand how anyone couldn't. Maeglin was becoming an excellent baker.
Upon arriving, Mairon stepped out of the car and stretched, taking in his surroundings. Today was going to be perfect. The sun was casting her brilliant glow over them all.
Or so he thought.
When he first laid eyes upon Tyelpe, Mairon could tell something was wrong. Tyelpe seemed so exhausted and even avoided Mairon's gaze, yet still looked at Maeglin.
"You are not fine," Mairon insisted. He knew Tyelpe well enough to pick up on the fact that this was not normal behavior from him. "What is wrong? Why haven't you been sleeping?" Perhaps it came off a little judgement, but Mairon was too concerned to worry about tone.
Mairon lounged in the passenger seat of Maeglin's car, watching the world drift by. Trees blurred into a green mist enveloping the highway and the wind rushed around his windshields. He felt so alive out here. He always wanted to cling to those moments, it was as if he knew death had followed him throughout his existence. He could forget about Melkor being in jail or the guilt that had started to invade his thoughts.
"Will we be at Tyelpe's soon?" Mairon peeled himself away from the window and turned to Maeglin. The food they had purchased from the farmer's market had been out in the backseat for a while, being jostled around in the scorching sun. As much as he enjoyed the ride, he didn't want Tyelpe to have spoiled food.

“I hope he likes my sourdough.” Maeglin remarked. It had taken too many failures to get it right, but he’d been wanting for much longer to learn to make bread. He had always been basically self sufficient from his parents surviving in the middle of nowhere, and now he had a new skill to add to his abilities.
“I think I want to learn to make wine next. The last time I tried the grasshoppers ate my grapes… maybe it will turn out this time…”
When they reached Tyelpe’s Maeglin took his bread, strawberry jam, and tomatoes. This left their farmer’s market goods for Mairon to bring in—honey and cucumbers and okra and eggs.
When Tyelpe opened the door, something was… wrong. Maeglin had expected him to be happy to see his favorite cousin. It was supposed to be a good day with his friends, but Tyelpe was very soft spoken and couldn’t even look at Mairon.
“Are you ill? You could have asked me to stop for elderberry wine or whiskey…” Maeglin said.
“No… No, I’m fine. Thanks.” he said, turning from them to put away the food in slow, wearied movements. “I haven’t been sleeping much.” he said after a moment of silence.

Headcanon- after Meaglin was killed, Sauron was in shock for weeks. He eventually made a stuffy of a mole to snuggle with in his sleep as a form of comfort.
Mairon had collected plushies since Almaren. Eonwe would give him little ones of various birds he loved and Mairon made ones of wolves. Since leaving, most of them were in the position of Eonwe, provided he had not destroyed them. Although he had managed to sneak the crocheted piping plover, the first gift Eonwe had made for him, into Angband. Now he had an extensive line up of werewolves plushies.
When Maeglin was here, he had promised to make Mairon a plush of his own favourite animal, a mole. But now he was gone. Trapped in Mandos. Even Mairon's powers of necromancy could not bring him back. Mairon wondered if Maeglin ever felt regret for not being able to fulfill his promise. So he decided to fulfill it for him and sew a plush mole of his own.
It kept him company during long nights after hours of military strategizing and planning. He pretended that Maeglin had made it and was simply in the other room, crafting him another. It was easier than accepting the truth. Still, sometimes he felt his heart breaking whenever he looked at and thought a bit too long about it.
Such weakness was not acceptable in Angband.

"Perhaps you should focus your energy on apologizing and changing," Maeglin said through the door. "Come on Mairon, let's go."
He didn't understand what was going on with these siblings at all, but he didn't like it one bit.
"I will never forgive you for harming Mairon and I!" Maeglin yelled. (@admirable-twilight )
The royal looked at the small elf before him, scrolls in hand as he blinked processing the claim. Then kneeled to Marglins level,"Do forgive me for my ignorance yet, I have not harmed you or your partner. Do tell me who do you believe I am."

The youngest of Mairons children (4 years old)from another universe entered Maeglins home, looking scared of everything.
Tinnunaril, the youngest of Mairon's and Maeglin's children, also from another universe, wheeled over to them and smiled, "Hello! Nice to meet you. What's your name?"

"No, I don't think I will leave," Maeglin snarled, he hoped Mairon would come soon to help. He didn't want him to be in danger, but he thought that it would be wise for them to work together. "You should get thee gone from my mansion and leave Mairon and I alone!"

Maeglin hurried off to find Idlaon, but froze when he saw Idlaon right next to Ildomen, and comforted by him no less. He felt anger simmering within him. Why had he ever even considered apologizing before? Clearly they were working together.

"He wasn't Ildomen?!" Maeglin went pale, he was so cruel to someone for nothing? He thought he had moved past that, but here he was again, hurting people. "Where is he, I need to apologize to him right now!" Maeglin stood up too, rushing around to get ready to leave.

Maeglin thought for a moment, picturing the maia. "No...I didn't see any scars. What does that mean?" He wondered if there were multiple maiar who looked similar. That seemed likely.

Maeglin hugged Mairon back, the comfort soothed him slightly, "Thanks. He had long blond straight hair, a circlet and pointed ears," Maeglin recalled all the details he could, hoping it would be enough. "We need to be careful."

Maeglin hurried to sit down beside Mairon, trying not to cry. He didn't want to show what he feared would be viewed as weakness. "Yes..I saw Ildomen again. He lied to me and said he was sorry." Maeglin inched closer to Mairon, as if he could somehow protect him.

Maeglin felt little for Idlaon and his despair, and stormed off, paying him no more heed. He was glad to see the maia flee and not be able to escape the actions he believed he was responsible for.
Then he went inside, to find Mairon and warn him.

"Good riddance! Never come back! If I see you again, I will tell the Valar. I shall let no harm come to my love or myself." Maeglin was fuming as his words came out in a rush. He didn't believe that apology for a second.

Maeglin scoffed and backed away from Idlaon, remembering Mairon's words about steering clear from Ildomen. "Lies! You have hurt Mairon beyond measure. I utterly despise you, Ildomen!"

"Ion! Why would you dare to betray your own kin?! To be so lowly and to develop...desire to our enemy. You are no son of mine." Eöl shouted in the hall of Mamdos.
"You are no father of mine!" Maeglin snapped back, "He is not our enemy, he is yours. And anyone whom is Mairon's enemy is also mine!" He seethed with anger. What had Eöl ever done for him besides judge and scorn his every action?

A very large hand gently picked up Maeglin, before lifting him to the lady's eye level. She smiled as she looked at him." This is such a cute little mole lord. I see why you like him, mai mai." She said calmly as Mairon stood below them, look up at the giant goddess holding the elf.
Maeglin cried out in alarm while he was lifted into the the air. He had always hated heights, it reminded him of his own death and the death of his father. He tried not to look down and focus on the person in front of him. But it was so hard when his mind was bombarded with images of him tumbling off of Gondolin to the abyss below.
"Put me down," Maeglin requested in a voice just above a whisper, "my lady."
