INSIGHT REGARDING SINS AND VIRTUES

Aegon can be incredibly self-less but he also feels like it’s his duty to be so as someone who has witnessed first hand the lives of those living with barely any coin to their name. That being said, if given the position to do so...he wouldn’t be giving out hand-outs every time either. Smallfolk are hard workers and they deserve what they work for.

Despite his confident demeanor on the outside, inside he can be  skeptical. More so when those in Westeros question his identity. Meanwhile, the smallfolk and the poor of the free cities don’t care who he is simply that he’s been good to them.

He doesn’t condone torture. He does believe in justice but he’d sooner make a quick and clean swing of his sword rather then dragging out a death sentence.

He isn’t above deception. During his time in the free cities, in order to win quick coin he would bet against others how long they could endure heat. Young Griff always won. He never does this too often though, as it would become suspicious.

Aegon can be incredibly competitive. His desire to prove himself can work against him if he isn’t careful.

It takes a lot to get him angry and normally his anger stems from frustration. It’s not abnormal for him to be so angry he could even tear up.

He can be very flirtatious but usually never acts beyond that. For more on exactly why check out insight on love and marriage. 

Aegon doesn’t necessarily want the throne, not for himself, but he does see retaking it as justice for his family and the best thing for the smallfolk. He’s also not above feeling like he’s better than other Lords because of it.

✹         AEGON, YOUNG GRIFF, WHATEVER HIS NAME MAY be was a son of elia martell, and by that right alone rhaenys hesitates to truly yield her contempt to him. by blood they are brother and sister, yet rhaenys cannot shrug away the disgruntling truth of the matter. they shared a mother and a father, though rhaenys is apprehensive to include rhaegar targaryen by any semblance of familial affection, but they had only known each other for a year, before the sacking of king’s landing. she only three and he a babe. that is hardly the proper foundations to form affection for one’s own brother, or sister. rather, it builds mistrust.

       RAISED IN STARFALL, RHAENYS WAS TAUGHT HER princess and queenly duties, was trained to memorize the fabric of every house and its foundations, to imprint history to memory so she may never repeat it, and to remember that she and she alone is the rightful heir to the seven kingdoms. aegon has been taught the same. the difference between them is the army at aegon’s back and nothing to hers.

HE HAD ALWAYS DREAMED OF REUNITING WITH HIS SISTER. It always seemed possible that if he were saved then surely Rhaenys was too. It didn’t escape his mind that by Dornish law, she was the rightful heir to the Seven Kingdoms, the law of his mother’s kin. Yet he understood now the doubt that came when he declared his own claim, the doubt of what if she was no blood of his. He couldn’t risk the chance of abdicating until he was sure.

He lingered on her words, indigo optics resting into her own gaze. There’s a familiarity that comes with it, as if he’s looking into his own soul though wiser it seems. Young Griff moved fearlessly and always on his toes, Aegon was more considerate and tactile because he had to be. Together, they made him inconsistent during moments of afflictions. Perhaps, in that way, he was a dragon.

Her rational was sound but there was still a thought grasping at the front of his mind. “The smallfolk don’t have the time for patience.” He tries not to sound so irritable, his head hanging from his shoulders. The crown wasn’t upon his head, yet he already felt its weight. “They suffer from those who saw to expunge our line.” It’s the first time he speaks of of the two of them as a unit and he realizes it just as the words leave him.

GENERAL INSIGHT AND HEADCANONS

Though he has a lot of Dornish features the front of his hair is streaked with silver.

He has dyed his hair blue for most of his life. He ceases right before taking Storm’s End.

He carries a Valarian Steel sword believed to be Blackfyre. The only person who could confirm it is the three-eyed raven.

The three-eyed raven is also the only one who could confirm his identity.

He is uncomfortable in cold weather.

He responds to both Aegon and Griff.

He considers Jon Connington to be a father figure. 

He has a deep appreciation for feather beds as he usually sleeps on the floor prior to taking Storm’s End.

He doesn’t hate Daenerys and in fact, part of him yearns for the familial connection. However, he also understands the situation is complicated especially with their unyielding  entitlement to the throne.

He was trained in his youth to use an arakh and continues to use one until The Golden Company bestow him with the sword Blackfyre. 

He’s quick on his feet and very agile.

He spent a few name days in Tyrosh.

But he learned to steal while in Pentos. 

Being well read, Aegon enjoys rereading the stories of Nymeria.

He enjoys conversing with smallfolk and finds many of their lives interesting. 

After taking Storm’s End, he empties the mints of the Lords of the Stormlands who fought against him onto the streets for all the smallfolk. 

He has removed all traces of the stag on the castle and instead hangs illustrative tapestries of various points in history. 

He wears a small necklace believed to have belonged to Princess Rhaenys around his wrist. He is told it was not uncommon for the Princess to put her jewelry on him when they played. 

He often dreams of a figure he believes is his sister; faceless and dancing in flames of gold. 

In some verses he bonds with one of Daenery’s Dragons. This may vary in some verses but @zcldrizes​ and I have established that for our Dance of Dragons its Viserion. 

In verses following the show, he does attend the treat in the Dragon Pits.

Considering the circumstance, he agrees to march the Golden Company North to fight the dead. 

He has yet to test the theory of fire but he has been told by Jon that he was convinced of Aegon’s identity when he was dipped in a boiling bath, unscathed. However, Aegon was far too young to remember this.

REGARDING THE INSPIRATION OF DORNE.

According to author George R.R. Martin, Dorne is loosely inspired by Spain, particularly the south’s Moorish heritage, which culturally sets it apart from the rest of the country and of Western Europe.

The term “Moors” refers primarily to the Muslim inhabitants of the Maghreb, the Iberian Peninsula, Sicily, and Malta during the Middle Ages. The Moors initially were the indigenous Maghrebine Berbers.The name was later also applied to Arabs.

The term has also been used in Europe in a broader, somewhat derogatory sense to refer to Muslims in general, especially those of Arab or Berber descent, whether living in Spain or North Africa.

The term Moorish continues to be widely used to describe the art, architecture, and high culture of Muslim Andalusia and North Africa dating from the 11th century onward.

RANDOM FACT!

Aegon can cook.

When he’s old enough to, he’s the one that makes all of his and Jon’s meals. Partly out of necessity ( sorry jc, A loves you but he also likes food with taste ) and also because it’s fun for him.

It’s actually a sign of endearment if he cooks for you. And sometimes he’ll cook for the top commanders of TGC. Or participate in cooking for smallfolk from time to time.
