No NO you don't UNDERSTAND. I want to be Milo Rossi when I grow up. No one engages with history and archaeology and anthropology like he does. It's incredible. I want to live inside of his brain. I want to breathe in the secrets and discoveries and tragedies of the world through him. I watch a video and I go insane

the one thing i never understood about the people who actually think up the "let's not infight uwu lets not be seperatists" rhetorics, it's like.
how much of a hair trigger reactionary do you have to be to assume that a criticism of a movement means a disengagement and seperation from the movement?
if, in a growing front, you do not constantly try to right the ship you let the biases and bigotry and concessions seep in and become ingrained parts of the movement or organization. If women stand aside and just work for the betterment of the queer progress, that progress will conclude without women, despite the body of work accomplished.
#preach#this applies to anyone stubbornly defending their bigotry and hate#rather than standing with those who are oppressed

genuienly tho how do i not be suicidal if everywhere on internet i go say "oh btw you are gonna be illegal and you can't do anything about it." like I don't care if you go "haha don't care about being illegal be queer do crime!" or "be genderfuck fuck the law" "dw you're valid no matter what" i don't know, I would like to be safe. I know in south korea I'm already not recognized as human being or trans individual to begin so going to america is not gonna be so different. but damn, it seem there is no hope and i'm gonna be dead day one in US. And I should give up my dream to be with who I love because of that trump dude. And I already don't have hope of future in where I live so fuck you you better die. My parents not gonna hold my funeral lol. Is there any hope. Like I know it's not gonna be much different in SK and US for me cuz both legally don't recognize me as woman and shit. But still.
#there are still some safe states in US#and there are other safer countries in the world#maybe consider EU or South America?#i hope you can find somewhere to live your life in peace

I appreciate the sentiment behind posts like "if you can learn how to pronounce [european surname] you can learn how to pronounce [non-european surname]" but it does unfortunately rely on the base assumption that your average english speaker actually does make an effort to pronounce european surnames correctly

i have like zero sympathy for professors structurally speaking and a lot more for students but just as a matter of rhetorical efficacy i do wish more students understood that a lot of the dysfunction of university teaching is the result of university policy and ultimately the result of universities being businesses / landlords first and foremost. like some professors are also just huge fucking assholes for sure but, simply replacing them with people who Care A Lot About Teaching won't actually do jackshit to make the classroom experience better so long as the institution itself has a bottom line it's serving by being, materially, a granter of pieces of paper that exist to be class barriers. however (and here is where sympathy for students also becomes limited) most students find these facts incredibly hard to recognise or to reconcile with their own political demands (such as they are) because they view themselves as temporarily embarrassed degree holders & are often primarily motivated by their own sense of being 'deserving' of the kinds of upper management / petit-bourgeois professional positions that these degrees are marketed as granting them.

If you see a post talking about problems related to a behavior you do (or problems related to not doing something) and your first and only reaction is to rant about how the post is insensitive to your very specific circumstances which make changing your behavior impossible, consider:
Not everything is about you and this might just be one of those things.
That is also the reaction of every person in the history of humanity who simply didn't want to change their behavior. Everyone has extenuating circumstances. The worst person you know has internally compelling reasons for their behavior. The challenges that you personally experience will always feel like a reasonable excuse for your behavior because they're the things you personally are experiencing. The consequences of some behaviors are mild enough that extenuating circumstances can excuse them (see #1). The consequences of others are bad enough that it is necessary, if one wants to live a decent life in this world, that you figure out a way to change regardless. It is your personal responsibility to figure out the difference between these and take the appropriate actions. Here's a hint: the more emotionally attached you are to your excuse, the more likely it is that it's excusing a behavior that needs to change.
Insisting that OP needs to provide explicit instructions for how to start or stop the behavior for someone in your very specific circumstances is unreasonable and probably annoying.
