Ei Wade is an artist who design so many interactive arts about sound, this is one of his designs, it used exhaust fan and light to make sounds. He connected a mixing console with two exhaust fans which are under the light, when the fans are spinning, when the solar panels under the fan had detected the light which passes through the space between the blades of the ventilation fan, then the mixing console will make some sounds. Also, he had been holding a portable solar panel to detect the light which passes through the space between the blades of the ventilation fan at the back.

Ei Wade converts the electromagnetic waves to sound. When he changes the number of fan blades, the sound will be changed. It is because when the number of fan blades are changed, the frequency of light to pass through the space between the blades of the ventilation fan will be changed too. Also, he touches the fan blades to change the sound.

This art work let me thinking about Bauhaus, which is an art style. His art work is so clean and doesn’t have any decoration. I think it is showing minimalism in his art work.

I think Ei Wade always makes some innovation art work and this is one of them, we are always listening to some music which is made by music instruments or software, they have designed and organised rhythm and tone. But in this art work he converts electromagnetic waves into some sounds without prior design for harmony, it is so different with mainstream music, he had created a new type of music which is so casual and doesn’t have designed rhythm and tone.

Also, I think his idea is so outstanding, he breaks the rules of the traditional or mainstream music type, he has created his own music type and music instruments, I think the craziest idea was he had used this art work to be the background music of a fashion show and outcome was so unique. 

I personally like this because nowadays our idea are always limited by the existed rules which is made by the mainstream culture, and Ei Wade breaks the rules of the traditional or mainstream music type. His music is so attractive and unique. Although it doesn’t have a designed, and organised rhythm, and he seems that he is care-free with playing these instruments, he created some innovative sounds and made them to be a song. And this is why I like this art work, he wasn’t just make a song, he was trying to change the mainstream culture.
