The Treaty of Saint Petersburg is signed secretly in the spring of 1812. It creates a formal alliance between Sweden and the Russian Empire against the rising threat of Napoleon. Part of the treaty involves a form of collateral; a marriage contract.

Nicke might be a second son, but he is a Bäckström. Still with worth, if not estates of his own.

The aforementioned worth had been calculated to the krona when he had been ransomed by the French. It had been paid by Gabriel, the Crown Prince. At the time Nicke had not known how he was to repay his cousin. Now that is no longer a mystery.

He likes to be the one in charge, and that’s not something guys that size are apparently into. Nate’s pretty much resigned himself to the fact that his ideal guy - big and willing to let him take the lead - just doesn’t exist.

But maybe he’s just been looking in the wrong places. Or being oblivious to what’s right under his nose.

Hey, how exactly do you change the publication date on AO3?

Go into “Edit” and then scroll down to “Associations.” There’s a little checkbox that says “Set a different publication date.” Click that box, and you’ll be able to select today’s date or a date that has already passed (you can’t select a future date).

I would suggest waiting to change the date until somewhere between the exchange going live and author reveals, personally. :)

Hi everyone! As you may know, fic reveals are scheduled for tomorrow (11/16)! At this point, we think they’ll be fairly late in the evening, as we finish getting in the last pinch hits, and check that all works are in complete state. Expect to be able to edit your stories (or add extras, like treats) until late tomorrow evening-- we’ll give you a more exact time when we can confirm everything’s in and will send out a “Pencils down, everyone!” warning before we make everything go live. If anything changes, we will let you know!

As a reminder – since these are technically backdated stories, you’ll want to change the publication date on your story to get it to the front of the tags, but not everyone has to do it at once (or some stories will get shoved to the 2nd page on AO3, where fewer people will see them). Any time between fic reveals and author reveals should be fine.

Sorry if I'm being hasty for no reason, but will I get a notification when my fic is approved for the challenge? (Now the status of the assignment is unapproved.) If it isn't, will I be asked to do something with it? (I don't see there anything that would be against the rules but that doesn't stop my anxious ass from worrying.) The assignment also still has the "fulfill" and "default" boxes, will they go away at some point? Thank you for arranging this exchange!

No worries! It’s been a bit since I was in an exchange I wasn’t running, so I’m not sure if you will get a notification when we approve the fic. You might, as it will be officially added to the exchange collection, and I think there’s a notification for that.

I think the fulfill and default boxes are on your end. Did you click the button to say this fic fulfills an exchange assignment when you posted the story to the collection? If not, you can edit the fic to check that box and see if that helps. 

Even if you don’t get a notification, we’re not going to reject any fic, not least because that would reveal the story on AO3! If a story breaks an exchange rule, etc. the mods will contact you to work it out. You also have until the final deadline to polish your fic so the mods are aware that we’re looking at some rough drafts and we’re not going to refuse to approve anything on that basis.

Consider partying like a Cap OR a Nat, and doing some terrible karaoke (may we suggest Baby Shark? or We Are the Champions?) and/or drinking a libation from a hat, jack o’ lantern, or large sports trophy.

That’s fine! You still have until official fic reveals (November 15th) to edit, proofread, expand sections, etc. We’ve had a bit of a shortage on beta volunteers, so we’re still trying to connect a few people, but we’ll get everyone covered. Incidentally, if you’d like to volunteer to beta, send us a message or email and we’ll connect you to some very grateful authors!

We will announce the approximate time we’ll be revealing fic on tumblr as we get closer to that date (sometimes the need for pinch hits throws things off), so you won’t be surprised. This due date is to make sure that you have 1k of story with a plausible ending so the mods can check you off. If you need more time to do that or are having trouble posting your story, let us know here or at capsexchange@gmail.com.

On November 1, the mods just want to see that you have 1k of story with a plausible ending. If you need more time to do that or won’t be able to post your story on November 1, let us know here or at capsexchange@gmail.com.
