As already expected from the last preview of Android O, here we have small news since the focus now is just fixing the bugs to leave everything round to the final version of the system. Some changes seen in previous updates are now reversed here, such as the animation on the battery screen and the mobile networks icon.

Lock screen and security package

Soon after the first change we noticed in this update is on the clock and date on the lock screen that are smaller. Also, the font used for the date now no longer comes in the upper case, but only the first letter. The animation effect is the same as before, but appears to be a bit softer now.

In the previous beta, Google revealed the version of the system, this being 8.0.0, which continues to appear in the new preview. The Android security package, however, has been updated for the month of July. Recently we saw a news that some Pixel XL owners would be getting the final version of Android O with August package. Which shows that the final update will be released soon.

New easter egg

Each version of Android Google always hides some Easter egg under the system version. In Lollipop and Marshmallow we had a game inspired by Flappy Bird, while in Nougat we had a simpler game that consisted of capturing cats, showing inspirations in Pokémon Go.

Now on Android O we have an octopus that we can interact with when touching the screen, but it is not a game like in previous versions. Battery Consumption Report

In the third preview of Android we saw a new animation on the system battery page. Now in the last preview this animation has been removed. However, it's now easier to keep track of battery usage by apps and also by Android's own services.

By default, only apps are listed now in the consumption report, but you can select the 'Show full device usage' option in the settings in the upper right corner to also view consumption by the system, such as network signal, screen, Wi-Fi, Play Services and even Android itself.
