Does the demo end after the eye color thing? I just clicked Next Chapter after the Thanks For Playing text and it's... not loading?

The game ends at “Bang,” if you’re having issues with the eye color selector then please check the FAQ in my pinned. Also, there’s no game after the Next Chapter button, I just forgot to make it the end of the game on that version. Fall semester started so I haven’t been able to write any new updates recently, sorry!

I am curious and I don't think you have said this before but, what are the ROs sexualities?

All ROs are bisexual! Any gender MC can romance any of the ROs. There will be slight superficial differences to some romances depending on gender though, such as offhand comments or small actions from ROs in relation to the MC

Hi, I may have contacted you about this before, but there are errors for all 3 save slots so it's impossible to save, and I can't get past the choice to select MC's eye color at all - it just infinitely loads or gives a script error. So far I've gotten this problem is Firefox and Edge.

Hello! I think you may be using the alpha demo, which does have that issue. Have you tried this version and get the same problem? I’ve abandoned the alpha demo and all further updates will be on the beta, which is what I’ve linked

Can you tell us a bit about MC's family life or their past on general? Is it predetermined or do we make it up ourselves?

I'm under the assumption that MC is aware that people would want to hunt them down for their powers (literally or otherwise) and I'm wondering how they figured that

MC's family/childhood isn't very important to the game, but you do get to flesh it out a little bit throughout the game. The only thing set in stone is that they had a pretty average life, nothing too special. That's how they were able to stay under the radar so long despite having used their powers. For the most part, though, your MC's past is whatever you want it to be!

Oh. Now you've done. Just read the last ask, and I decided that my MC will be a villain with an obsession of cats. Would do everything to get their cats happy and lots of catnip, will be 110% spoiled.

Jokes aside, in the demo I keep saying "F for F_____". Love it.

Can you explain how MC's powers work specifically?

It’s gone into more depth further into the game, but to put it shortly, MC can always hear peoples’ thoughts in the back of their head. The best way I can describe it is that it’s like a high school cafeteria. There’s so many of them all the time that they blend into a lull in the background of your head and eventually you just stop hearing them all together. When MC wants to, they can focus on certain thoughts and listen to/communicate with them as they wish

waitwaitwait! MC can become a villain???? Brooo, now I'm just imagining my MC ruining the heroes plan when they expect it the less lol. But in the definition of villain..what would the MC be able to do? I don't really see the MC to do some villain things when MC will be surrounded by heroes..haha.

But, if the MC can become a villain, will we still be able to romance the ROs? Because I don't really thing the "hero organizations" would allow that..

I may come back with other ask like this if the MC can be a villain, not like those big villain (like the Joker or similar villain), but a villain that makes people plan fails and deceive them and will do anything to get what they want.

I am totally alright if the MC won't be able to do that, this is your story, and I'm totally in it no matter what.

In order to avoid spoiling too much so early in the game, I will say that yes, your MC can be a villain. As of right now, I have two different villain paths outlined: one full-on evil one, and one more "anti-hero" one. For both of these paths, I only have one romance that can be maintained (although that may change for the anti-hero path), but there would be major spoilers if I revealed the romance, so it'll stay my little secret for the time being.

And for what your MC will be able to do along the villain paths... you'll have to find out ;)

A little sooner than I expected, but the beta demo has been completed! There is no new content, but all previous content has been polished and edited, so I encourage you all to give it a read.

I will say, I heavily intended on moving to itch.io; but after getting part-way through the port I realized how unnecessary many of the assets are, and, in my opinion, it made the game far less user-friendly, especially for mobile readers. So... we're staying! Hopefully, no one is disappointed by this...

Hello! Yeah, I think the alpha demo has outdated code in it. I’m more focused on improving the beta version and so I’ll be leaving the alpha version as is, the beta version should be out and playable soon. 💥 What emotions do they have trouble dealing with?

Minotaur: Embarrassment/humiliation. Mini will do anything to avoid being embarrassed, and when he is, it will ruin his entire mood. He’ll instantly go quiet and close himself off until he can be alone and recuperate.

👻 Do they believe in ghosts? what are their "ghostly experiences", if any?

Minotaur: No, he was raised Christian and in a very Christian environment and therefore was taught not to believe in ghosts/apparitions of spirits.

💢 - What are some habits they have that will take some getting used to?

Hades: A “go with the flow” mindset. Hades doesn’t understand how someone could just sit by as life passes them by, he has to be constantly vigilant and will fight against any change that he doesn’t want to come his way, sometimes a little harder than he should.

Lynx: Self deprecating humor and messiness. Lynx doesn’t particularly enjoy it when those she cares about puts themselves down. She loves them, and she wants them to love themselves as well. This leads into her dislike of messiness, as she wants her loved ones to live a clean life because, to her, cleanliness contributes to happiness.

🍧 - Do they still have any objects from their childhood? what significance does it have to them? what would their reaction be if they lost it?

Hades: An old quilt from his mother. It’s all he has left to remind him of his family, frayed and burnt on the edges. It has to be over 50 years old. If it was lost, he’d do all he can to cover up the hole in his chest that it’d cause him. He’d spend days looking for it, and when he finally realizes that it’s gone, he’d isolate for even longer. But he wouldn’t ask for help.

Lynx: No. Lynx is not a very materialistic person, any childhood heirlooms remain with her parents. She’s have rather sold them or gave them away, but her parents insisted she kept them to hand down to her own children. Lynx isn’t so sure she wants any of her childhood near her future children.

Hades: The teams accomplishments. Not their official accolades, but how much every member has grown since he first met them.

Lynx: Her plans for her future. Marriage, retirement, kids. Everything in between, including making the team her kids’ honorary uncles and aunts.

Can you give us an introduction of the RO???

Honestly, I could give you a six page essay on each of the ROs but I don’t want to spoil too much as a lot of info may or may not be revealed depending on your relationship with each character. So far I have six main ROs, three female and three male, as well as one more “hidden” RO that I’m probably going to make flex (meaning their gender changes depending on the MCs sexuality). There’s a possibility that some of the main ROs could change to be flex as well, but some of them have stories that closely tie in with their gender identities, so some are definitely more set in stone than others. All ROs are attracted to any gender however, so no need to worry about getting locked out of a romance because of your gender :)

But a quick intro to the ROs (in alphabetical order)! I’m not going to include physical descriptions because you’ll be getting in depth ones after the prologue and I don’t want to repeat myself. (All names are their codenames as their real identities may or may not be revealed to MC depending on choices made in game)

Angel is the youngest member of Unit SI. She’s soft spoken but quite assertive when she speaks up. Her power at first glance are wings that resemble an angel, which is obviously where she got the name from. She’s a libra and her favorite color is blue.

Hades is the oldest member of Unit SI. He can be snide and stand-offish at first, but is obsessively protective of his team. His power isn’t anything visible. He’s a scorpio and doesn’t claim to have a favorite color, but honestly with all the black he wears that’s probably his favorite.

Lynx isn’t the oldest member of Unit SI but she certainly acts like it. There’s something threatening about her prescience that you can’t shake no matter what, despite how kind she seems to be. She’s thin and agile with patches of spotted fur on the parts of her arms that are visible. She’s a taurus and her favorite color is green.

Minotaur is the second oldest member of Unit SI and good friends with Hades. Despite the fact that he’s over six foot, he seems to take up very little space in a crowded room. He has horns that grow from his temples and curve backwards to point behind his head. He’s an aquarius and his favorite color is orange.

Silver is the “middle child” of Unit SI, and despite the saying that the middle child is always forgotten he is the leader of the unit. “Daddy’s money”, everyone says, but his charisma could have gotten him in a position of leadership even without his dad being on the board of the hero organization that employs Unit SI. Due to his popularity as the leader of the unit, most people know about his power, which is to read minds once he makes eye contact. He is a taurus and his favorite color is blue.

And last but certainly not least there is V, the second youngest member of Unit SI. She’s kind enough but also quite loud and stubborn, as well as a big participant of local protests. Her ability to make hardlight shields from nothing comes in quite handy, even when she just needs a stepping stool to reach the top shelf. She is a sagittarius and, unlike Hades, when she says she doesn’t have a favorite color it’s because she genuinely cannot pick one.

Anecdoche will be returning this 2022!

Long time no see! It's been, what, two years? Wow, it feels so much longer. With 2022 comes my graduation, and a lot of free time! I've been thinking about Anecdoche a lot lately and have decided to pick it back up again.

The story will be remaining largely the same, however, I will be porting the game over to itch.io and changing my code script to Twine. Luckily, the story was only bare-bones and not much will need to be re-coded, so this shouldn't take very long and I should be putting out new content by the summer. This was a tough decision for me, as I'm not a huge fan of the player UI on most itch.io games, however, I feel that this will be the best decision I can make for the game going forward. I will most likely be optimizing the game for mobile as best I can, but please be patient with me either way.

I will be linking the new demo as soon as it is completed. I hope to see more of you all in the future!
