A Mother’s Plea: Help Us Survive and Protect My Unborn Child

My name is Sahar. Like any young woman, I dreamed of a stable and happy life. I was engaged to Mohammad, and together, we dreamed of building a warm little home where we could start our life. We spent years preparing our house, but just before our wedding, everything was destroyed in an instant by the war.

I was faced with a choice: to leave Mohammad in the midst of this chaos or to stand by him and begin our journey together, no matter how difficult it might be. I chose him. We got married, not in the dream wedding I had envisioned, but under the harsh reality of war. Our new home became a fragile tent, offering neither comfort nor security.

Today, I am seven months pregnant and living in constant fear for my unborn daughter. I am terrified of the world she will be born into—a world of poverty, hunger, and freezing cold. We’ve been displaced over nine times, carrying nothing but the weight of loss and the hope for survival. The house we dreamed of is now rubble, and the tent we live in barely shields us from the rain and cold.

How will I protect my daughter? We struggle to find enough food. Basic necessities like milk, blankets, and clothing feel impossibly out of reach. The cost of survival has become unbearable. Every night, I am haunted by the thought: how can I bring her into this world, knowing I cannot keep her safe?

I write to you with a heavy heart, pleading for help. I don’t ask for much, just the chance to give my daughter a safe beginning, a life with warmth and dignity. My children are collapsing from severe hunger. Their frail bodies can’t endure anymore, and their eyes search in vain for food or nutritional supplements.

Hamoud, my youngest son, faints from malnutrition, and with every fainting spell, a piece of his childhood is stolen.

(In my previous post, I shared his photo, but Tumblr hid it due to the distressing nature of the image.)

No food. No medicine. No supplements, Only deadly hunger and a disturbing global silence.

I withdraw donations daily just to buy bread, and nothing remains. Prices are unimaginably high.

I urgently need 5 packs of children's nutritional supplements each costing €20.

Maha is a single mother alone in north Gaza with two small children. Their home is destroyed, and they are trying to live in the rubble because it’s better than being back on the street.

They need funds for food, 7-y/o Joan’s medication, medical treatment for malnutrition and shrapnel injuries, and hopefully supplies to salvage what shelter they can from their home.

Rest peacefully, little Omar

It is with a broken heart that we have to share the worst news imaginable with the NGU community. This weekend, the IOF bombed the neighborhood of Yahya Al-Habil and his family. Little Omar, Yahya’s 7-year-old brother who we have mentioned often, was martyred.

Both Yahya and his brother Mohammed are being treated in different departments for the severe injuries they sustained from this attack, and did not get the chance to say goodbye to Omar. They now urgently need $5,000 usd to continue treatment and hopefully stabilize their critical conditions.

Please share their story and donate anything you can to their campaign- this family cannot handle another loss.

As an artist, one of my key goals for running commissions is to give back to my fellow artists whenever I can. While I save up some of the money I make, I also give a dedicated % of my earnings to digital artists like me, as well as painters, jewelry makers, and musicians.

However, 100% of profits from my special commissions currently go to my friend, Shahd. She's in her last year of dental school, but the circumstances in which she's preparing to study again are extreme. Shahd lives in Gaza, and as some of you may know all of its universities have been destroyed by Israel's relentless attacks on the strip. Students are doing their best to resist the occupation by studying whenever they can while scraping by. They might not all be artists like me, but they have just as much of a right to education and a safe place to develop her skills as anyone else.

Currently, Shahd doesn't have as much time to campaign for herself, since she's busy helping her family and community survive the seige. (You can read about her daily life under seige on her blog: @shahdhatem) For the time being, SNS users such as myself are sharing her campaign for her, and awhile back I opened a special commission offer to bring more money her way. My dear friend Ibrahim Aburakhia @aburakhiaibrahim wanted me to share this image with you. He and his family of 28 have been suffering through nearly two years of genocidal war. There are 15 children in his family, including his nephews, who are growing up surrounded by death and suffering. They've all lost their belongings, their health, their friends, and their home. All they have left is hunger and pain. 

The Aburakhia family is starving. They need funds to get food safely. The GHF "aid points" are extremely dangerous, as the IOF keeps shooting Ghazzans seeking food there. Airdropped aid has been extremely sparse and hard to get to as well. The Aburakhias need money to be able to purchase food to survive, but prices are extremely high, and donations keep stopping, sometimes even for days on end.

Ibrahim and his family can't afford for this to continue. They are exhausted and starving and scared and they need your help to avoid starvation. Please, do whatever you can to support them. Share and donate. Your action can save their lives.

🔴 Israeli tanks have withdrawn from Deir al-Balah, after destroying the displaced persons’ camp and wiping out the tents.

The displaced, who fled death, were once again expelled under fire, and their few belongings were completely destroyed.

We have been displaced more than 12 times… we are exhausted, broken, and can’t endure any more.

Each time we try to survive, we lose a part of our soul a home, a child, a glimmer of hope.

🕊️Keep Hope Alive: a Gaza Giving Circle🕊️

Keep Hope Alive is a project that connects multiple families in need in Gaza with a pool of donated funds. Anybody can donate through their Chuffed fundraiser. Funds are then evenly divided on a weekly basis between all 7 of the families that the project works to sustain.

The project was born from the observation that Palestinians are made to share intimate details of suffering in order to be afforded help. Its operations are designed around the following principles:

Support Palestinian autonomy by letting them choose what to share.

Prioritize Palestinians' privacy and dignity.

Alleviate the burden of asking for help. Forced displacement & internet blackouts mean that most of the families can’t log into their social media.

Create reliable, sustained help through regular giving, rather than chasing one-off donations.

The organizer of this project is my best friend in the world and I trust her implicitly. I am also managing bank transfers for one of the individual families connected to the project and can personally attest to their veracity. I am Suheila Alwan, a mother of four daughters and one son. I am 34 years old, but the weight of life and suffering has made me feel much older. We once lived with dignity in a modest home, and my husband’s boat provided for all our needs. But the war has left us with nothing. Our house has been reduced to rubble, and my husband’s boat, our sole source of income, was completely destroyed.

Today, my family and I live in a tent that barely shields us from the cold and rain. My youngest child asks me every day, "Where is our home? When will we go back?" And I find myself standing helpless, unable to answer. My little girls sleep on the hard ground without enough blankets to keep them warm, and my eldest son tries to be strong for his siblings, but he’s just a child—he needs safety and care, things I can no longer provide😭😭😭😭😭

We have no electricity, no clean water, and no consistent access to food. Every day is a struggle to secure even the basics that once felt so ordinary😭😭😭😭😭

I am not asking for much—only for the sake of my children. I wish I could protect them from the biting cold and the hunger that weakens their small bodies. I dream of seeing them smile again, to hear their laughter free from fear and sorrow😭😭😭

I know there are many others suffering like us, but as a mother, I cannot give up on my family. I appeal to you with all the love and desperation in my heart: help us rebuild our lives. Even the smallest gesture of kindness could mean everything to us—a chance to live again with dignity and hope😭😭😭

Okay, I don't know why the fuck these Western nations are declaring to officially recognize Palestine as state in September. (i.e: Canada, France, and United Kingdom). Why is there a date on it?
