Nightmare: A Prologue

It was dark. Pitch dark.  And cold. I couldn’t make out anything from the surroundings except that it was a forest, based on the strange hums and buzzes of insects around and the texture of things that touched my feet. Wet slippery and sometimes rough… I think they should be the leaves, creepers, rocks, and roots.   Good heavens am I running barefoot in this place? What time is it? is it…

oozing with blood?
