âWhy do people like a character whoâs committed war crimes but hate this other character just because theyâre annoyingâ because itâs fiction Susan, and being annoying in fiction is a greater sin than being a supervillain, because it wonât make me want to read about them. I donât normally chime in on these kind of posts because I just really donât have time patience or energy to deal with any antics it may attract but I agree 100% on this.
People need to go into reading TBOSAS with a completely blank slate and not with the image of old Snow in their head and stop treating any dark thoughts that passes through his mind as proof that heâs always been this evil dictator. Babes, have you never had an intrusive thought before?
You also have to remember this is in the perspective of an 18 year old. Remember being 18? Yeah, those were some dark times. Should there ever be a transcript of my inner monologue at 18 I wouldâve sounded that unhinged too!
And thatâs why I loved the book so much, because I couldnât help but find Snow so incredibly relatable. His thought and actions just felt very real because they werenât perfect or always good. Or the good actions or decisions he did make didnât always have âpureâ intentions and that to me was just so human.
And Iâm not agreeing with all the choices he did make in the book but I could understand why he made them and what his reasoning was behind them. Would I have made the same choices? Who the hell knows?!
We all like to ask each other âwhat would you do ifâŚâ and while we all want to think weâd make the ârightâ choice, youâll never actually know what youâll decide until you are in that situation.
A lot of the time while reading I kept thinking âyou know what? Yeah, same broâ (also laughed my ass off a lot of the time because that boy had some serious sass and I live for that shit!)
If you disagree with any of this then thatâs fine. Everyoneâs entitled to their own opinion.
If you donât like it then I suggest you continue scrollingâŚ.or just block me then youâll never have to see my posts again đâď¸
If I read another "the movie didn't adapt the inner monologue of Snow well" I swear-
First of all I think Tom did an excellent job because you can read Snow's thoughts inside his eyes in every scene.
Second thing... You always tell this in a context where you are saying "if you read the book you will hate Snow, you like him only because Tom is hot" and FOR FUCKING SAKE I read the book after seeing the movie and the book make me love Snow more. I fucking love his inner monologue, I find him sarcastic and sassy and unhinged, the book make me wanted to be his fucking friend "irl", I am quite sure that if I meet someone as Snow and that someone say the things he thoughts out loud with me I will die laughing fr.
You all just can not see the younger 18yo traumatized and starved and sassy Snow as a different person and you see the cruel 82yo dictator/monster instead. You are biased by the future in a context it doesn't apply.
And mind you, I am not justifing his action in the book/movie, I am talking only about his inner monologue and the quote I keep seeing as haters try to tell everyone "see??? He is bad because he thoughts X/Y/Z!"

THIS!!! âď¸âď¸âď¸
I think that the world became too pure for our books... I really want to see inside of one the antis mind because... I just can't.
Really? Really did you have not one single without context evil thought?
Once again I am here to expose my self (and my bestie, bless her) because I am now quite sure that this... Repression even in our own mind that seems to be happening now... Blind ourself to the word. We are past the reading comprehension not be strong, we are in uncharted lands now.
Okay so: me and my friend have a mental "hut" were we put everyone we have/had a crush on. You can say... A cage. A MENTAL one. Everytime one of us find a new crush we always tell to each other "this person is going to the hut". We even have ranking inside the hut, with the best crush having more privilege, and if someone does something we don't like he lost his privilege or even he is thrown outside the hut. And the person in the hut could be anyone: irl crushes, actors, fictional characters. Doesn't matter to us. Because the whole hut, the whole cage, is a fun concept that it's not real. We can punish our People-in-the-hut if they misbehave because nothing real happens to them.
But if one of the antis or purity culture people can see my mind at some point, and see me thinking like "oh yeah, I want you, you go to the hut right now and then I will *insert something brutal here, sometimes even sexual* you" or worst, texting my friend this, I think this person would have not the abilty to comprehend that THIS IS NOT REALITY FOR US. This is a funny game. If tomorrow we will be able to build the hut, to hide the hut, to go and grab the irl people we want to put them to the hut, to do everything to said people, with the certanity we will not be discovered ever, STILL WE WILL NOT DO THAT.
BECAUSE WE WILL NOT HARM PEOPLE IRL THIS WAS NEVER THE POINT, NEVER. EVER. NEVER.
We are not bad people if somethimes we fantasize to do even bad thing to others, because the word here is that, fantasize. It's all in our mind with no intention to make it real, ever.
And sometimes we can use metaphores too to describe some concept we have in our mind, and a metaphore is just that, an example, something unrelated that can drive a concept. It's not real. If I think "I am sly as a fox" I am not thinking I am a real fox. Even if I only think "I am a fox" it means I am sly, not that I think I am a real fox. And if some antis look inside my head and see "I am a fox" I start to think they will think I am mental, because they can not understand. Really can not understand.
And I am worried about this.

Coriolanus: *currently being attacked by Bobbin*
Lucy Gray: Itâs like heâs in the arena with me đĽ°
In 18 years of his life, Coriolanus never meets his soulmate, unlike Tigris and her sweetheart, Festus and Persephone, or even Pluribus and Cyrus. He doesn't mind it, though. Soulmates would just distract him from what matters the most.
That changes when he sees Lucy Gray Baird getting slapped on screen and he feels the sting on his cheek.
or
Soulmate AU of Snowbaird
Yes, so, can someone please write this? lololol
My friends and I talked about this and I can't hold it back any longer.
We think that the connected pain kind of soulmate system would be the most interesting in a world with Hunger Games.
We also think that all this time, with the classism this world has, the Capitol taught the children that soulmates only run with blood/heritage/class whatever so Capitols will only have Capitol soulmates; and District with District soulmates, but it's not rare to not have one.
But no, actually Capitols can have their soulmate somewhere out there in the Districts. They never find out because, well, Capitols never really meet/see District people. (Propaganda: the Capitol desperately wants to hide this because it will break the "balance". They need to divide the Capitol and Districts, you see.)
Coryo has the pleasure of meeting his "District/Covey" soulmate via Hunger Games and it will bend his mind and turn his beliefs/mindset upside down. It will challenge his worldview of the Capitol and District and what is safe and not.
He has the pleasure of feeling all the pain Lucy Gray gets from the Games. The hunger pangs double and somewhere in his teenage mind, he thinks that starving together is romantic. Eating comforts him, though, because then her hunger will lessen a bit. Lucy Gray feels his pain too, from the bombing burn (the moment when she realises he's her soulmate) and, depending on where you derive the source, from the stitches he pulls out to save her.
He has the pleasure of thoughts (terror, horror, dread) assaulting his mind of what will happen to him if Lucy Gray dies in the arena and he watches helplessly as that happens. Cheating suddenly has a stronger basis for Coryo, because she needs to live or he dies, figuratively.
And for the same reason, Lucy Gray has one more reason to fear death. His pain will comfort Lucy Gray ironically, because feeling his pain will feel like he's there with her in the arena. It keeps her going.
And so he cheats and what you know happens. Coryo is banished to the Districts. But the sweetness will start there.
(Coryo's "his girl"ism will be official (officially written in the stars, I mean they are literally soulmates) and he will "HIS GIRL" so hard in this AU.)
The ending? Well...it can be a happy ending. Sweet, happy, sugary. It takes a soulmate system for him to sort out his priorities, it looks like.
Or Coriolanus can fight against the stars. And what happens in the woods happens.
He kills his own soulmate. Dead. Gone. Silence. And nothing happens, it seems, this soulmate thing is such a joke. He feels stupid for worrying about it in the past, because it turns out it has no effect on him.
(When actually his heart dies.)
But in the decades and decades after, he still feels pain from invisible wounds. Phantom pain, tactile hallucination, hauntings, or real? Is this a mental thing, is this punishment from the stars, or is she alive and well?
If she's still alive, when he harms himself (poison, dying, mouth sores), does she feel it too? (Does he haunt her too?) Should he tear up the woods, to cut the loose ends and to stop the madness of this uncertainty?
Well.
We will never know.

Snowbaird Arena AU fic idea Iâve been thinking about for weeks now but donât have any writing talent to make it come to life so if anyone out there wants to take this on please do!
In this AU Coryo doesnât manage to escape the arena when heâs sent in to get Sejanus. Sejanus does get out (because this fic is about Snowbaird and I donât want Sejanus to be third wheeling the whole time lol) but maybe Coralâs pack corners Coryo and he has to take a detour through the tunnels and Lucy Gray hears him and leads him to safety. Gaul couldnât care less about getting him out because if he dies at least itâll be off camera and everyone will be none the wiser.
The majority of the games will play out the same but this time Lucy Gray wonât be alone, when Jessup becomes rabid they bolt into the arena together to escape and thatâll be when the viewers see for the first time that one of the mentors is trapped in the arena (Gauls probably been going around telling people Coryo is off with the flu - Clemmie will be the only one who suspects something shady is at play since that was the same excuse they used for her). Everyone in the Capitol is up in arms about one of their own students being in the arena (Crassus Snowâs son no less!)
Lucy Gray and Coryo survive the games. I know in this AU heâs not around the drop the handkerchief into the snake tank but heâs been with Lucy Gray in the arena the whole time - and maybe to keep her warm at night heâs leant her his blazer (I know in the book he wasnât wearing it but letâs sayâs for this story he is) - so his scent would be on her and when the tank explodes and the snakes reach them they donât attack. Lucy Gray still sings still because that song slaps and maybe this time Gaul is the one to suggest the singing is calming the snakes because she canât exactly say âyeah theyâre not attacking because they already know Snows scent from that time I used it to test my students honesty which resulted in one of them getting bitten multiple times and almost dying lolâ itâs already bad enough that one of the students is in there, canât let the Capitol know sheâs using them as test subjects for her mutts too!
Theyâre out of the arena and Gauls stuck between a rock and a hard place because she can either tell people she willingly sent a Capitol student into the arena mid-games and left him there to fend for himself OR she can say Coryo broke in himself to protect Lucy Gray because young love blah blah which sheâll absolutely hate but may not result in her getting fired so thatâs the story she goes with.
Dean Highbottom will actually for once try and do something decent and sees this as an opportunity to potentially end the games for good by playing up the Capitol Boy/ District Girl in love story blah blah look how District and Capitol can work as a team blah blah weâre not so different you and I blah blah Gaul wants everyone to believe that all humans are inherently monsters but look how these too worked so hard to protect each otherâŚyou get the idea.
The games are cancelled, Gaul probably still gets fired (Sejanus and Strabo probably corner the President and tell him âlisten, you need to fire this bitch, we all know what really went downâ), Snowbaird have their happy ending, thereâs an emotional reunion between Coryo and Tigris, the Grandmaâm is actually relatively pleasant to Lucy Gray since she saw how hard they protected each other in the games, maybe the covey come to the Capitol and perform and Plubrisâ nightclub.
Anyway, thatâs pretty much it. If anyone wants to adopt this baby, please do and let me know where I can read it. It would be much appreciated âşď¸
I have read Saving Each Other by flipflop_diva (which Iâll include a link to, I definitely recommend you read) but if anyone knows any other similar fics please message me!

Desperately want a similar time-travel fic where Coryo isnât a dumbass and is honest with Lucy Gray about the third being Sejanus and they carry on heading up North where I donât know how, maybe they fall through a pocket in time or something, they end up in District 13 but during the second rebellion. And Coryoâs totally horrified by what he becomes in this timeline (in the book he was so worried about Lucy Gray thinking he was a monster after Sejanus was hung) and they end up helping Katniss with the rebellion and taking down old President Snow (and Coin cause they clock early on thatâs sheâs no good!)
Imagine instead of Katniss reaching out to President Snow as a distraction when theyâre rescuing Peeta Lucy Gray instead sings PATDS and Snow has a mini heart attack.
And Prim and Finnick DONâT die!
And the story ends with everyone happily frolicking in the meadow or the lake with little everlark and snowbaird babies (and Haymitch and Effie have their happy ending too because)
I just want soft snowbaird and badass Katniss/Coryo friendship in one fic, is that too much to ask??
I want so bad a Time-travel fic where just after Coryo say the fucked up line "my old self" he and Lucy Gray were pushed in the post-war woods outside Disctrict Twelve only for them to be found by my woman Katniss Everdeen out for a little hunt and they so will discover that Disctrit Twelve is now destroyed and in ruin because of president Snow and Coryo will be hysterical and dying inside meanwhile Lucy Gray simply forgets how to speak and-
The pure horror. Oh my god. I want this.
