Hundreds of union employees at three U.S. Nabisco bakeries that make Oreo and Chips Ahoy cookies and Ritz Crackers have gone on strike to protest proposed changes amid contract negotiations with parent company Mondelez International, Inc.

Approximately 200 workers at a factory in Portland, Oregon, have been on strike for two weeks and were joined on Monday by about 400 employees at Nabisco's bakery in Richmond, Virginia. On Thursday, workers at Nabisco's bakery in Chicago also walked off the job to go on strike.

Employees at a sales distribution center in Aurora, Colorado, also joined the strike on Aug. 12. All of the workers on strike are members of the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers, and Grain Millers International Union, which announced the Chicago strike on Thursday.

"This fight is about maintaining what we already have," Mike Burlingham, vice president of BCTGM Local 364 in Portland, told TODAY Food. "During the pandemic, we all were putting in a lot of hours, demand was higher, people were at home, and the snack food industry did phenomenally well.

"Mondelez made record profits and they want to thank us by closing two of the U.S. bakeries (last month) and telling the rest of us we have to take concessions, what kind of thanks is that? We make them a lot of money. It's very disheartening. How is that supposed to make us feel?"

The union is in the midst of negotiating a new four-year contract with Mondelez after the previous one expired in May.

Union leaders say that Mondelez has proposed switching from eight-hour shifts, five days a week, to 12-hour shifts, three or four days a week, without overtime, and with increased mandatory work on weekends without extra pay.

! Alright, not sure if one of you saw or was told, still apology for taking so long to get back to the both of you.

That's also what I was thinking for mine. When I made up the 'Blood Sports.' Although, I wasn't sure how common it was for Irken to have repeat visits like Sivark.

I like to think there many reasons to partake, though.

1. A love for violence or suffering.

2. If your good enough and you proove your worth (also aka entertain the crowd and Tallests) you can be noticed and get promotions. It doesn't happen a lot, but happens, so it's worth it.

3. It's away to blow off steam.

4. Humiliate another. [I like to think, you can do a Call Out thing (Irkens who want to save face have to partake.) - Not sure, yet, haven't gotten this far before. - where its possible to challenge another Irken despite rank or even height to a sanctioned dual.]

5. Arrogance (Show off how good you are have other awww and cheer for you.)

6. Keep your battle senses sharp during off times, so you don't die the next time out. Training is never the same as heat of real battle. (This is one of reason Sivark part took.)

7. Possibly even asked as a guest like - say they request Zim as the esteem honored guest . . Really it's only a ploy to get rid of unwanted Irken without going through official channels.

8. The thrill (The other reason Sivark took it. Although, a bit of violent and steam in the mix.)

Another thing wasn't sure of the rules. I was thinking for 'Blood Sports' Dual until your opponents down, but you can't kill them. Cause killing is a lot easier then beating them until their unconscious, especially with an Irken.

Question one: are prisoners only other Irken or are there other species?

Question two: does Irk import the creatures from the black market or do irken explore vessels collect the nastiest things they find and transport them for this.

Also, absolutely love the idea of pure and utter entertainment part of this deal. I mean if you think about it. We do the same in human sports. Death and issues are just never/barely spoken of or are so far into future nobody, as in public eye, cares or connects. Think of issues with boxers. And that's just modern sports, not even mediaeval. - Think of history. At one point, we as humans used to go watch public executions (we considered this a family event: Mom, dad, and little Timmy too.) So really Irken's just happen to be openly violent and unhypocritical of what they find entertaining, unlike us.

Also the pro cons deal with your ability to logically reason at a level of understanding, given the creatures cannot the way the intelligent prisoners or those who choose to partake can.

Maybe it has settings? Normally it sends a current small enough to warn, such as 'cut your shit out' But can be dialed up for those who continue, all the way to a stun function (as it interfere with nervous system in the organic body) and it can be switched to a kill switch, as well. Given the point of prisoners is to prolonged suffering at expense of your entertainment, im guessing, so killing is last option.

Jdtdtjxi - OK, I've been sitting here for a long while. Thinking of asking, yet never do. If someone else's asked one of you. My bad, haven't really been on, (crying face) Your guys Gladiator AU - I absolutely love it. All your OC's for it are to die for. Honestly, I didn't think anyone remembered that fact in IZ. So it's exciting to see others use that concept. I was wondering if writers may work with your version of it & Oc's. My irken Sivark/Kravis I created his past with as I called it, 'the Blood Sports' as pass a time between his invades. I'd love add on to it. I understand if not. And completely respect that. Also a question. Can you tell us more about the GG - rules, reason it was created, fighting to the death or not, disadvantages or pros of fighting in it, and such. Also that metal circle on Kryn's chest is that a simple medal brand for humiliating him or another inhibitor like his PAK has to weaken him?

Since @aperfecttimeforscreaming really helped with the actual world building, i’ll pass the mic to him for a moment.

 First of all, thank you for saying so! It's really cool people are still interested in this despite my hiatus. So Invaders proving themselves in the arena definitely isn't unheard of. I expect it's somewhat uncommon for one to keep making return trips to the arena, but it definitely makes for a really cool character idea! 

The Bowl of Bleached Bone is the nicest, highest  status combat bowl, but there are 9 bowls in total and 7 of those bowls are unspoken for. If you wanted to develop a bowl purely to run the bloodsports out of, that's an option! If you imagine blood sports as like a once a month event, then it could certainly be hosted by Skeeg! That'd be fun :D 

I'd love to talk with you in depth about the blood sport rules and how the games are run. Feel free to Dm me or enter my ask box to talk about some of your ideas. I'm pretty sure Gnoust can fill you in on the rest - aperfecttimeforscreaming

But the rules are pretty simple, it’s kill or be killed. You can be pitted up against fellow prisoners or feral creatures. You are there as pure and utter entertainment. At least thats what its like for Kryn since he is there as a punishment and not by choice. He doesnt have the best of times in the arena.

But pros and cons of fighting in the arena are definitely based on your reason for being there lol 

If you are there by choice, where the rules aren't life or death or you fight a creature, you can use your time in the arena to prove yourself as a worthy warrior and have the audience sing your praises. 

As for the metal on Kryn’s chest you are correct that its like a brand! In part its humiliation to show where his place is and it doubles as a device that could cause harm if he gets too rowdy. Could be a simple zap or straight up make you explode.

Once again. . .

I won’t make this weeks chapter, aksdhas I really am very sorry. I also will aksjdaksd reply to the post from Screaming & Gnoust - if you two see this. I see you <3333 - I’m just super warn out. It’s been hectic and new sleeping times and five billions activaties to and very little time to do them in. Also, roomates hammy is sick and I’ve been desitainted nurse, why they work, which I think has been the bigger stresser.

Decided to post my headcanon ramble. - PAKs are made up of mechanical neurons/brain cells that operate like biological ones. - IRKENS have developed a metal alloy that is surprisingly lightweight in order to make PAKs. - The mechanical neurons all receive signals from the CONTROL BRAINS. - PAKs are like MACs, difficult to mess around with but ZiM has learned to do this which is incredible. - I am assuming the PAK works like a bag of holding in DnD, there is just so much shit that can fit in there including the spider legs. No one quite knows how it is possible but it is. - Surgery is performed on IRKENS at birth to install literal holes in their back so the PAK can plug into their squeedlyspooch and send signals to their brain. And yes, you can literally see into their bodies because of this. - Yes this terrifies DiB.
