I think that the best ending Gelphie shippers can hope for is some kind of implication that Elphaba has/will come back.

Because there's no way they're going to do anything with Gelphie out of subtext like a kiss or confession or something. But I can definitely see them doing a more hopeful ending than the stage musical.

My most optimistic theory is that the end shot could be some glass breaking next to Galinda as a way for Elphaba to let her know she's alive. The glass breaking is such a specific thing to bring back from part 1 so I really think this is a possibility, but I'm going to try and not get my hopes up too much.

But no matter the ending I'm so excited for the insane amount of fix it fics this fandom is going to generate.
