I regularly think about Moiraine's quote about "A tool made for a purpose is not demeaned by being used for that purpose." About Moiraine as one of the Moirai, or all three at once, for the Emond's Field 5. About forging people for great purposes, throwing them, and herself, into the fire. About the weaves of fire Moiraine uses so often. About the fact she is described as ice, when it's the fire of her hope, her belief that fate could be gamed to save the world, that kept the embers burning for 20 years.

It's very important to me that moiraine is so weird and so repressed and so off-putting to everyone she meets. she has catholic guilt in a world without catholicism. she has lesbian sexual repression in a world where being gay is allowed. everyone wants to fuck her but in a way where they also hate her. she has like two friends and one of them is her wife. she's lowkey doing bdsm with said wife but they've probably never had sex with anyone else and also grew up in the fifty shades of white tower so this is like just normal behaviour for them.

I do love when people ask silly questions of Moiraine like why did this woman who grew up in the corrupt and deeply evil royal family of one of the most repressed societies in the world and then went to train in the rigid and demanding standards of the White Tower and then spent the next twenty years in a state of constant fear and paranoia not treat Rand, a complete stranger she just met, with warmth and trust

A few weeks ago I got to visit Scotland for the first time for a quick vacation. When I travel now I try to make a piece of art. I was very excited to see all the graveyards especially the Necropolis in Glasgow. So this is my graveyard queen, with a crown of headstones.

This picture, previously unrecorded in literature on de Troy, would seem to belong a series of the seven Liberal Arts, of which four others are known, each signed and dated 1733: the circular Allegory of Music and Allegory of Poetry (both Museum of Art, Portland), Allegory of Prudence (Private collection, Paris) and  Allegory of Painting (sold Christie’s New York)
