Cuckoo is a neat movie because it's like a little bit about how moving on for grief and loss makes you feel like you don't belong in your real life, and also a little bit about how any major change can make you feel that way. But also it's a bit about how if you're a queer person, sometimes it feels like you replaced the nice child who was supposed to be a part of a straight family so you end up kind of disappearing out of your parents' lives if they're not fully accepting.

But also it's like a discovery that there are people who care about you, or need you, or want you to feel cared for, like once you're outside of things in that way grief or queerness has of pushing you to the edge of people's care, anyway you get there and discover you aren't actually alone. Like, there's people here, some of them have been here longer, others are still lost like you. And the whole like catharsis of Cuckoo is this queer kid and her baby monster sister tiptoing between two people who want to kill each other and one of them, shileding one another, unwittingly keeping these two screaming, enraged opposing sides alive, until they can be free of both of them, they each leave their families behind to make something better and new, understanding one another in language that exists without words.

she’s a conspiracy theorist and a cryptid hunter, with an unhealthy fascination on things that are uncanny valley like kelpies, not-deer, and “those-things-you’re-not-supposed-to-say-the-name-of”

her inspiration was literally just “little weird girl” bc why not

she has 2 dads and one of them introduced her to cryptids and the other one blasts his music in the car which is why she likes Rob Zombie and KORN at age like 12

she thinks the raccoon that took her granola bar had “human eyes”

They’re the white cat, an American shorthair or however that translates into D&D

They’re deaf in one ear (the one on their blue eye side)

Surprisingly not surprisingly, Fleaspitz is not their real name. It’s a stage name they came up with after being kidnapped by a circus and stolen away from their gf

Bronwyn “Wynnie” Mudtooth

she/her - 20 years old

She’s a Norwegian forest cat or again however that works in D&D idk

She makes all her own clothing and is the one to fix up “Spitz” clothes (she does not know that her stupid gf picked the world’s most insane person name after being kidnapped- she called “Spitz” by their actual name but you all don’t get to know that yet ;)

She tries to help the night that Spitz is kidnapped, fighting off attackers and whatnot but she ultimately fails … and pays for it harshly
